I went shopping for myself in Texas today, rather than bringing back all kinds of general supplies. I now have clothes that fit properly, rather than my baggiest tee-shirt and tracksuit bottoms, and I feel so much better for it. And I think the shop assistant in the art shop must have thought I'd gone mad or something, but I won't be running out of paints, pastels, boards or canvases for a long time. Arthur, I got you some more of those notepads you're always scrawling in, and a decent fountain pen as well. And some ink for it. And some other things.

Also, I found a shop that sells jaffa cakes and Yorkshire tea. Sold them. Sorry.

If anyone wants me to get them something specific from through the door, let me know and I'll hunt for them tomorrow.

Oh, sir, you're obviously missing out on absolute perfection, really! I mean, Jaffa cakes are these spongy little biscuits, more like - well, orange sponge cake, really! I mean, they really are basically orange sponge cake, coated with chocolate! They are so bloody good!

I think you must have come before the Jaffa orange, then, because that's what the cakes are named for...?

I'm familiar with the oranges, I've spent more of my life in Egypt and the Levant than I have back 'home'. When did these cakes come about?

Ah, did you really? Were your parents explorers, or diplomats, rather?

And you know, sir, that's a good question, actually, sir...!

Let's see if this Google.com thing that Mr Stark told me about can help furnish the answer...

[added five minutes later]

Ooh! Not only did I find out that they were first made in 1927, but... there are now Blackcurrant versions, as well! Joy! I mean, I LOVE blackcurrant, for serious...!

Archeologists actually, Egyptologists to be precise, as am I.

1927? That would explain it yes.

Actually, the sponge cake part is plain. Then there's a layer of "smashing orangey bit", which is like a little bit of orange jelly, and then there's dark chocolate on top of that. Sometimes, they release limited edition ones that are entirely covered in chocolate.
