Special, as a word, I've always thought, can be just as positive or negative as most words -- and perhaps most of all, the word unique. To exist above, beyond or outside the norm is never an option, rarely a desire. To be special is to be hated, it is to disappoint, it is to persevere for change and enlightenment, it is to teach, to learn and to lie.

William Carlos Williams once said that poets 'are damned but they are not blind, they see with the eyes of angels.' and I believe that this is true for anyone who is extraordinary. It is a gift as it is a curse, you may exceed all expectations but your own -- or none.

I think that's why I've always liked knitting.

Well, usually when someone's going on about some profound topic or another they don't usually close out their article or post with such an abrupt change of subject.

Unless you're trying to tie knitting into people's expectations and being above, beyond or outside the norm? It's still abrupt but at least it would make sense, kind of.

I've tied it in knots, really.

Oh that's a funny one.

Well you can kick up your heels and relax here, nobody expects anything out of you in this place.

That is both troubling and reassuring.

Well as another newcomer here once said 'There's no fate but what we make for ourselves'. You're free to do whatever it is you want, as long as you aren't going around hurting someone else.
