Special, as a word, I've always thought, can be just as positive or negative as most words -- and perhaps most of all, the word unique. To exist above, beyond or outside the norm is never an option, rarely a desire. To be special is to be hated, it is to disappoint, it is to persevere for change and enlightenment, it is to teach, to learn and to lie.

William Carlos Williams once said that poets 'are damned but they are not blind, they see with the eyes of angels.' and I believe that this is true for anyone who is extraordinary. It is a gift as it is a curse, you may exceed all expectations but your own -- or none.

I think that's why I've always liked knitting.

Of course he is, sir...! I doubt anyone in Britain or greater Europe would doubt that, after all he's done for them! Even he himself would be loath to doubt his own self-worth with all the good he's wrought...

People have an infinite capacity for underestimating the services they've been rendered, but no doubt you are correct. He is only occasionally given to wasting his time on modesty.

((Ooc: Sorry, i couldn't RESIST the urge, even though *I* know who she's talking to...! X-D))

Oh, indeed, I don't doubt That sir...! I mean, just with the war alone... Well, both wars, really... The one against Grindelwald, and the one against Lord Vold-- er, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named...! I mean, Dumbledore should have been able to bloody well retire on his laurels, after all that... but still, last I heard, he was still protecting Hogwarts for all our children... Well, not MY children, given that I don't HAVE any yet, but...

Well.

I can hardly overstate my pleasure at learning he has such a distinguished career in front of him.

Oh....!

So... you're from the -- well, my past, at least, then, sir...?

I'm Parnel Jugson, by the by, sir... and you are...?

Oh...!

Oh my G-d...

I mean, sorry, sir...! Spoilers; I didn't mean to spoil you on your own future, after all...

To be perfectly frank, that which you describe sounds entirely unlikely to play any part in the my future whatsoever - please, don't trouble yourself over such rubbish. Everyone makes mistakes.

In-indeed... I suppose so...!

Sorry for the misunderstanding, Herr Grindelwald, sir...

Not a bit. It sounds preposterous.

Not that I doubt your distinguished career.

I don't expect to go back to England in quite that capacity.

Hogwarts would not be an inappropriate retirement position, of course. Ensuring proper oversight of such an institution from the very top levels is essential.

Your modus operandi of simply speaking and expecting everyone to keep up would perhaps have to be modified.

You needn't teach, in any case. Simply curate.

Oh, aye, in my time... well, my alternate universe it seems - he started as a teacher, but -- well... he eventually became Headmaster...! And they wanted him to become Minister, as well, but he turned them DOWN-- because he's just crazy like that...!

There is always care, even if there is not perhaps tenderness.
