Our histories are not valueless entertainment meant for mass consumption. They are private sufferings, and the details of our lives are not supposed to be shared with anyone who wants to thumb through a book out of mild curiosity.

I understand. There is a book about my own sufferings, also. It is a bestseller, and I was- distressed to discover that many people on the island knew so much about me without ever speaking to me. But I have found that for the most part, I haven't been judged based on what they have learned through the novel.

The gentleman who- ~~created me~~ was the author of the book is on the island, now.

	Well, the book wasn't published until a few years after my death, and it seems that in many worlds I am considered to be a work of fiction. They could never imagine that they would meet me, as a real person. With hostility, initially. Yes, I have tried to explain this to a couple of readers. That I have memories even outside of the events detailed in the book. It only exposes the events of a single summer of my life, and yet it is what I will be judged on. A single summer through the eyes of someone else.

I've grown used to the idea, but I remember well the horrible feeling of violation that accompanying first discovering the truth. I'm sorry that you are having a similar worry. It's a terrible feeling.
