The Bidding Starts...... NOW!
For those of you who are new, I explained a few weeks ago that we'd once had a auction for women to bid on men for a date. It's not as desperate as it sounds. It was done for the good of the community. And it was fun.

The men listed their names ages and something special to that made them stand out. And then the ladies got to bid on them. And they treated the women who won to a day, or a night, on the town. It didn't have to be romantic, just fun and, or, enlightening for both parties.

I decided that it was time to do it again. Only since the female population is much smaller than the male that i'd ask the girls to offer up a day of their time to entertain whoever the winning bidder was.

What are you bidding, do you ask, since we don't use cash, and we work on the honor 'take only what you need' code? Well, see, we're a working community. Thinks don't just appear for your enjoyment. Turgon does a lovely job working around this place making it pleasing to the eye, Mitchell, me and Merry work to keep the pub stocked with nice cold brews, and delicious junk foods, and Applejack and Big Macintosh keep the farm running so all of that is possible. (Isabell and Briseis run the Diner and Bakery, but since they didn't put in a request for help... Well they can still if there are fellas that get overzealous with the bidding!) This is what you'll be using to bid with, work. You will do the things that they tell you to do. Or I tell you to do if you don't make it passed pub level. Who knows! You might like it.

The bidding is actually open to both sexes. So ladies if you see a lovely girl that has marked both on her application, you can throw your hat in. Or if you just want to give one of the menfolk a run for their money go right ahead, because you can't let them have it too easily. Right?

Anyway! Go here! And let the bidding begin! Once the bids slow down, or Wednesday comes (Friday if things haven't slowed down by Wednesday!) the bidding will be closed, and the winners will be annouced the following day.

Remember this is all in good fun! Happy Bidding.

Oh, be evil to me. I think I'd like that.

Huh. I wonder if there'll ever be one to Pern.

Hah! You want me to tease?

It's possible. I don't see why there wouldn't be.

Well, as long as it isn't during Threadfall, I'd love to show people around.

Do they all have riders?

Oh, of course. Riderless dragons die.

Because we are meant to be a pair.

Golanth - you see, at the moment of Impression, we are forever bound together, our lives and our minds one. He is not a pet or a servant, but an equal, a partner. A part of yourself. It is an intense bond, nearly impossible to describe to one who has not felt it.

He's my best friend, and always will be.

I had a twin brother... The bond sounds familiar.

I'm truly sorry, Miss Maryanne. My deepest sympathies.

Do you have other family here?

What doesn't kill me makes me stronger, you know? But thank you.

My son. And the people I've adopted as family.

I don't know how I feel about that statement, really. I think people are perfectly capable of being strong without pain.

You have a son? How old is he?

I...well, my biological parents are really famous where I'm from. But honestly, I don't know them all that well - I was fostered from the time I was a baby. Normal, really. They were important, and had a lot more important stuff to do than care for a child. My mom almost died giving birth to me, so I don't have any siblings, either.

But my birth father is here, and his half-brother. So I guess that's something. And I've got Golanth here, and he's closer than family.

Some day, maybe...someday maybe I'll tell you about Golanth's hatching. But that's a story for another day.

That's probably true, but there's been a lot of pain, there's no backing out now.

I do, he's seven months old today.

That's really cool that you have all of them here. Are you getting to know them?

I'd love to hear it.

I'd love to meet him. I like kids, although I haven't seen many. Don't have any of my own, that I know of, either.

A little. I mean, I know my father. He's my Weyrleader, after all. But he's just...not my dad.

Sometime. It's...a really intimate story for me. Let's get to know each other a bit first.

That you know of? Maybe I'll bring him down to see the Dragons. Once they've got Mommy approval of course.

More someone that you'd go out for a beer with, rather than someone waiting up for you?

Well if that's the case, I might have to share some secrets of my own.

Yeah, that I know of. I might. I don't know, but I doubt it. I think the girls I've been with probably would have told me. I hope they would have, anyway.

That would be great. I'm not sure Golanth's ever seen a human baby before. He'd probably be fascinated.

Uh, well, he's my weyrleader. So...not even that, really. It's more like...I follow his orders. My foster mother's the one who waits up for me, really. The one who did all the work of raising me.

I'd like to know them all.

I only have the one. And I don't have to worry about having another until December. But I'm considering wearing a chastity belt for three months.

Well, if Tim is going to grow up here he needs to get used to seeing things like dragons. He's already used to me.

No? Really? I've never been in that sort of situation, I guess. But them I'm not the leading nor the following sort. At least I don't think I am people l

All of them? Wouldn't that take away my mystery?

[info]felessan

Well, what's the fun of that?

We have to be, really. When thread's falling, we can't handle leadership disputes - people will get hurt if we do. So we need someone in charge to tell us where to go, someone to organize the firestone drops. It's like war, really. You need leaders and discipline when you're in life-threatening situations so that you don't lose more than is absolutely necessary.

Mystery? You're talking to someone who's bound for life to someone who knows every one of their darkest secrets. Mystery doesn't make someone sexy or alluring, it makes them distant. I don't want distance. I want to know the woman you are, in her entirety. That's what's the most beautiful and most romantic, you know. Knowing someone wholly.

Hey it means I wont be having loads of babies. I'm happy with my one. Right now.

I'm just not one to sit around and wait for someone to decide how to figure out what to do. I think on my feet, and stress when I have to wait for someone else. I mean I might make a good scout, but I like... The trill of the battle too.

You're not bound to someone now, are you?

I don't have a whole lot of moral principles but one I stand by is: I refuse to be the other woman. Knowingly. If I do it unknowingly and find out, the culprit better hide.
