Why do humans pierce their ears?

I should think it would be very painful.

I was thinking that might be after reading the other comments. I'm used to having mine pressed pretty close in to my helmet and they never bothered me.

Ours have a great amount of feeling, both for pleasure and pain.

Well, ours can't really move on their own so I imagine they must be very different to begin with, so I can see how they would feel differently as well. I don't think many humans have too much sensitivity, though I've heard they can tickle or feel good under.. certain circumstances.

Ours move with our moods - but they are not always under our control. You can always tell an elf's true mood by their ears.
