So I’m going to bore half of you again. With a steadily growing population and steadily changing population, I think we should have something like regular meetings. How about everyone who takes an interest in the Island every second Thursday of each month? The people who are jobless so far can be assigned jobs.

And I know there are a few people who don’t want to hear it but I would like to assign some organisational posts. It seems like the only thing we do is constantly argue over them. What is our security plan at the moment? Is there even one existing? Or food: one farm with two people working on it and one hunting team for all of us? That’s not going to work out in the long run. If we don’t want to rely on the Island’s mercy, there should be a few more people working on the farm now that spring comes around. We could try to fix the houses around us. Clean them, get electricity there. Maybe use one as a nursery. One of the office buildings could have a hall big enough for meetings or balls.

Last but not least, have we given up altogether? We stopped doing anything to get away from here. Where are the clever scientists? We know that there’s a psychopath out there who locked us into a prison. Are we just going to accept that?

Good to meeting to tell everyone about it? Tell us where we need to be careful and stuff.

Okay, yeah, I'm invisible on CCTV. I think Damon and others from his world can be very fast. The ghosts from my world can just rent-a-ghost wherever they want so if critters with the same ability show up we are going to have a problem. And there are of course shapechangers. If you want to experiment with devices and try to make me visible on CCTV or invent one that can detect me as a nonbat when I'm on bat form, I can play lab Nat. For everything else, maybe try to contact the Winchester guy. I think he spent his lifefighting the supernatural. Or just ask for volunteers at the meeting.

Yes. Well. I don't know. I'm hoping everyone can be of assistance.

You should- yes, thank you. I'll need this all in writing so I can work with it. It's a bit- well, it's complicated. So yes, I would like to experiment with some things. It's more of a detecting thing. I'm a detector, not a fighter. The rest of that will have to be covered by someone else. Probably the Winchester chap.

Then you should work on a plan, kid.

I was hoping you wouldn't try to stake me, yeah. Just tell me when you need me. Oh and if you need a ghost, just talk to my other self.

I have a plan, Mitchell. I'll thank you not to call me 'kid'. I'm twenty seven. I graduated two years ahead of everyone else!

Um, no. I wasn't planning on staking anyone. Whilst I can certainly shoot something small from a very long distance, as I said, the actual physical defence is for everyone else. I should have you and your ghost self over at Bond and I's apartment, whenever you can make it.

You didn't seem to have a lot of confidence in it. And twenty-seven is not a lot from my point of view.

Okay, good. I'll be there when you need me.

Yes, Mitchell, you're immortal and you're over a century old and it's all very impressive, we know. But as I said to Bond just before I gave him two wonderful little gadgets that saved his life on two different occasions, age does not necessarily equate to competence.

Bond provided me with an almost completely accurate scale map of the island and I've laid out the plans for human effective security and surveillance of the areas I mentioned before. The one where people tend to arrive and the forest. But other people's input is necessary, too.

Ah, confidence and sarcasm. That's what I wanted to see.

Okay, yeah, that's good. Could I get a copy of that map?

Trying to maintain a professional air is obviously not encouraged around here. I'll be sure to whip out my sarcasm stick and give myself a good flogging before we next meet.

Yes. I'll send James over with it later.

The sarcasm is optional. But if you want to lead, you need the confidence in your backbone. No 'I don't know's. They must think you always have a plan because they rely on you and you must keep them together.

Cheers.

Mitchell, you're talking to me as though you don't actually know me...

I don't actually know you that much, no. What I know is that you are excellent at handling Bond and you made my greatgreatgrandson quite happy.

Well I'm in charge of an entire department of people who are at least five years older than me and they've done quite well under my leadership as it is. I don't have all of the answers all of the time because you know, things take a lot of working out. Well, in my experience.

I'm not comfortable with being a leader.

I don't question your decisions. I only know how war works. I've been a Sergeant. If things continue like this and if you want to lead the security - and I think you will do a good job, you are a clever kid guy - but you will need to make rash decisions and you will have to at least display confidence in them. If you show confidence, everyone else will be confident. Even if you don't have plan at all, be confident about it and make it sound like a plan. Panicking people won't get you anywhere.

We are not at war. If we were then it would be different and I wouldn't have anything to do with this. My skills are for preventative measures and defensive measures, not military planning. I'm not taking that on. By all means, if it is your forte, you should call yourself leader. I'm not a leader. I devise things, I tell people how to do what I want done, and it works. I work under pressure with what I have created.

You're verging on patronising me, Mitchell. I'm telling you what I do and that is all I am going to do. Your rash assumption that my method is going to panic people is slightly insulting.

I just want to give you tips. That's all. I'm not saying I can do a better job than you. You have knowledge I don't have. You have skills that I don't have and will never have. I'm simply want to share my experience because ever since that damn prison I'm not sure if we aren't in a war and just don't notice it.
