All right?

Since things have been sketchy as fuck, and we've lost a load of people as well as gained some new faces- and the night club has been lying empty since the new years party- I thought we could all enjoy a wee get-together.

Since I'm more used to delegating than actually doing anything, one of our new residents you may have heard of, Jay Gatsby, is going to be taking over the club for the evening of Saturday March 23rd. He'll be entertaining you all with some jazz and gin and whatever else they did in the 1920s, I don't know, but it'll be a fucking good night, yeah? Oh, and in his own words, the dress code is "no riff raff".

If anyone wants to contribute anything- or has any questions- you can either pass them through me, or ask him directly. Or I'm sure Mr Carraway will eagerly answer just about anything, as well.

Cheers,
Malc

[ooc: Malcolm has also put up a poster in the foyer of each apartment building, one on the door to the night club, and one on the noticeboard in the pub. It looks like this, but obviously with the information changed to be accurate.]

Because I'm not talking about an actual woman. I'm talking about a string of women who all blur into one. And none of them were called Daisy. I don't think...

I see. You think of her as a 'type' without actually knowing her first?

Pretty much. Yup. I've met a thousand Daisy Buchanans. They're all the same, friend. And, in the end, none of them are worth the trouble they cause.

Daisy is not the same as anyone at all, and you shouldn't speak of her like this without having even met her. Even if there was trouble I I was well aware of It's hardly her fault that I knew the risks and took them. There's always trouble of some sort, anyway.

Oh, Gatz, Gatz, Gatz.... Haven't you even read your Wikipedia page yet? Daisy Buchanan has gone down in literary history as a type and I knew that type before either of you ever even existed.

Please, don't call me that. I'm sorry, I'm not sure what you mean. I haven't seen any page- was I meant to receive something when I arrived? There is a page of- information about me for the whole island to see, is that what you're implying?

Gatzsby, there's a whole book of information about you for all the world to read. Or most of them, at least. The Wiki page is just for the lazy bums who can't be assed to pick up an actual book.

I'm afraid I really don't understand your meaning.

Okay, you have a choice right now, Gatzsby. You can ignore me, forget what I've said, and go on living your life, blissfully unaware of why nearly everyone on this island is acting strangely familiar with you and the people you know.

Or you can click this and have your mind blown.

Your choice, Gatz.

So you clicked, huh? Should have guessed, really. You do seem to like to torture yourself.

Since we've started, we might as well carry on. Click me!

I am simply attempting to understand.

Who is this Fitzgerald? I have never met him, how does he presume to write about me, after my death, despite having never spoken with me? It was narrated by Nick. He sold these stories of me?

Nick doesn't exist in Fitzgerald's world. Or my world. You don't exist in my world. Daisy doesn't exist in my world. In my world, you're characters in a story that Fitzgerald made up. Doesn't mean you're not real in your world. In your world, Fitzgerald probably doesn't exist. But you're gonna have to deal with it, dude - you're one of the all time best-sellers of the 20th century, in more realities than you can count.

This is not helping, if anything I'm even more confused than when you started to explain. I'm a best-seller, by a man who does not exist "in my world"?

Yup. That.

Just like I'm a fictional character from a hit TV show in most people's worlds. What're ya gonna do about it? You just gotta accept it and move on.

I don't want to think of you with any Daisy Buchanans. But you can take me to this party...if I can fit in a dress.

Come on - you know I had a wild and misspent youth.

We'll find you a dress. You'll be the prettiest girl there. You'll see.

But just because I know that doesn't mean I want to hear the stories.

You're biased though.
