Hello.

It is my very first day at school tomorrow. I have never been to a proper school before, so I am excited and a little nervous at the same time.

Is there anyone here who will be in my class? I have English first with Mr Torrance and Miss Belle.

Yes, I think I did see your father on the stage on Saturday. He spoke very well, at least when I heard. I had to leave the meeting early. Yes, at least that is one subject where we are sure to do well. I have never studied Spanish before either, but perhaps we can help each other study.

The United States is the country we are from. Have you not heard of it? Where are you from?

That's right, I remember. The ~~lady~~ doctor was talking about all sorts of funny things I didn't really understand.

Yes, I'd like that very much! It will be easier in Spanish lessons too if we are both beginners. Easier than being the only one.

I am sorry, I really have never heard of it. You mustn't take it personally please, because I am very bad at geography. I'm from Pretannica.

I think you must be very proud of your father if he is the treasurer of a whole country.

My brother told me that she was talking about things that were not at all fit for well brought up young ladies to hear. It is hard to believe anyone would get up on a stage and say such things! He let me sit in the park and read until the meeting was over instead.
