It has come to my attention, that two people were shot... Because we are afraid of each other. Even if that wasn't the reason, I feel it is long past time for a "town-hall" meeting. It has been years, enough years that I don't think, besides a handful, that any of you attended the last one we had.

I would like to see every single one of you in attendance, young and old, men, women, children, and in between. There is a large amphitheater classroom in the University that will seat everyone, and then some, comfortably.

We do not need to be afraid of each other here, because I don't doubt there will come a time that we well need each other, again. I'm not being dramatic, but I'm talking life and death need, not just because one or the other has a useful skill that would make life easier.

So please, help me end this, and bring us all together again.

Edit: There will be drinks and snacks.

I have a better solution, Mr. Black. Come, with Sirius, and sit in the back, as close to one of the doors as you can get. If you hear something you don't like, or feel it's a waste of time, you can leave with Sirius without anyone taking notice. But, if you find it's not a big waste of your time, I'll have my daughter save you and Sirius a seat in the front with my other kids. Barney will be making everything that's said understandable to the under tens, and filter out any naughty language.

And I'll record the whole thing so you don't have to just trust my horrible handwriting. And I'll give you that, if you leave.

When I said I would fight anyone that had a problem with you being you, when you were fourteen, I meant it. This is part of the fight.

As far as what happened in the park, I don't know who smelled of fear, who smelled of pain, and who smelled of blood. I just know the acidic scent of the three was like running into a brick wall. ~~Also someone was terribly unwas~~. I literally tripped over my paws, because I remembered feeling fear like that.

Mrs Maryanne, I can see that you must have suffered shock and distress when you sensed what you did in the park, and you have my every sympathy for that, but I do not condone dragging good people through the mud at a public meeting because of an incident of which you yourself admit that you have not all the detail. Much less giving your mob food and drink for the spectacle.

I would not attend a public meeting open to all and sundry either here or in London, nor permit a child under my care to do so. I have friends here, people I would like to think I can trust and rely upon, and would myself go to great lengths to assist in times of need. There are others here I would not trust to douse me with water and not lamp oil were I on fire, and a larger group who sit somewhere in between. A vague threat that I will someday need all of these people does nothing to endear any of them to me. You cannot create fellow-feeling by force, nor require a man to associate with those whose company he does not desire.

Perhaps I never told you when I was a boy, but I do not use muggle technologies except for absolute necessities where there is no alternative, and a letter that I might struggle to decipher would be far preferable to some machine-recording I will not touch. Naturally, I cannot require you to do this for me, but I would consider it a sign of goodwill if you did.

This really is my final word on the matter, and I ask you to respect it.
