The snow's about to get cold, isn't it?

Yeah, it is.

Hey, think of it as a chance to start a fire(hopefully in a fireplace), and cuddle up with your wife to keep warm.

Sadly, I don't think I'd be allowed to do that for the next two months.

I never have before. I can't see it starting now.

You guys have never cuddled before?

Seriously?

I don't think I'd be allowed to do nothing but hibernate with Brenna for 2 months until the snow is gone, because any time I've suggested it before, I've been told "No".

Who doesn't cuddle with their wi--

Oof. Alright, that's fair. Not trying to pry to much into your private life, man, I was just curious. Then, I don't know... Just sit next to each other near the fireplace in awkward silence? Keep warm, bud.

You bet your sweet backside it is. But I know you don't like it, it just makes certain things a bit easier on me, especially now that I don't have Clint or Tony.

Sorry if that's TMI. But I'm also Southern so.. cold snow has always been more of a novelty than a pain to me.

It was August less than two weeks ago for me, and then straight into Christmas and the week where nobody knows what day/date it is. I can't get things sorted at all.

Very true.

So, did I miss anything new with you?

It's always cold? Unless what you call snow isn't the same substance as the snow where I'm from.

Where I'm from, snow is always cold, yeah. But in this place, it's not cold for the first month, then reverts to form for two more months, and then it's gone.

You're new. I'm Dan, hi.

Then it must be a different substance here, even if it looks the same. Something that melts at a higher temperature. Whoever is in charge of station climate control should know.

Is it that obvious? I'm Liberty. I have no idea how I got here.

I think it's automated.

It's only obvious because I'm not new. And nobody knows how we get here, only that we show up here suddenly.

Are you used to space stations, then?

[info]libertybecket

That figures. Maybe it doesn't need much in the way of maintenance. I'll take a sample of the 'snow' just in case I go back and can get it tested.

It doesn't bother you that nobody knows how?

Not exactly. I've never been on a space station before, this is my first time off Rica - but I've seen a couple of old videos, and I read a station handbook once. So I know a bit about how they work.

There are labs here, and sciencey people.

It did at first, but I've been here a couple of years now.

Rica? Like Costa Rica?

If they're anything like the scientists at home, they won't let someone like me just walk in and start running tests. They get possessive.

Do you like it here?

Costa Rica is on Earth, isn't it? Valeria Delgado was born there. She's a scientist I know. The Rica I'm from is the planet Ricagambeda.

There are plenty of empty labs. This is a big place and there isn't a lot of people in it.

I do, yeah. I'm not a big fan of all this snow, but that can't be helped.

And it is. It's in Central America. I think it's got decent beaches and some volcanoes? But I've never been there.

Really? Then I'm going to claim one. I have the feeling it's going to be useful.

I don't mind the snow. Maybe it's not so bad if you overlook the kidnapping or whatever this really is. I don't mind being here a while, anyway.

America! That's where the Integrity launched from. Did you ever hear of a place called Texas?

You'll want to claim an empty apartment as well, that's also going to be useful. You might need to clear out some weird stuff from the people who lived here before us, or you might get lucky and pick one that's already been cleared. Once you've been here a night, your stuff will show up.

I'm from America, so I've definitely heard of Texas. I've never been, though.

The station is so big that we can just stay wherever we want? I don't mind that. If you wanted your own home out on Rica, you had to build it from scratch. I'll see what I can scavenge and modify around here. Can I get a field or a patch to grow things in? If you've got snow, there has to be some kind of terraforming, right?

My mother lived in Texas before the launch, but I don't think she was from there originally. Which part are you from? And what year is it in America now? Nobody knows how long the Integrity kept everyone in stasis for before they reached Rica.

Yeah. And you'll need to talk to AJ about getting a patch to grow stuff, but there are stores with food supplies, and a couple of diners and a coffee shop if you don't want to cook (or can't cook very well, like me).

I lived in New Hampshire for years before I wound up here, but I grew up in Florida and I've lived all over the East Coast. It was 2014 when I left, but it'll be different for everyone here. People come here from all different years. We use 2021 for here, though. Or 2022 from tomorrow, I guess.

I can cook pretty well, but I've never seen a diner or a coffee shop before, so I've got to try those sometime. When I'm settled, I'll make you a good meal.

So, here being 2021 isn't that strange, because who knows what starting point the original station inhabitants counted from? It was the year 19 on Rica. But 2014 in America? I know it was 2064 when my mother left, and they were in stasis at least a century. So you're a time traveler? Or I am? This is confusing.

It was 2014 for me, but I think Miguel came from 2099. And Jake's from something like 2160? I'm not sure. And then we've got people from the 1800s, and my wife and her mom and sister are from the 900s. So I think everyone's a time traveller.

That's weird. Do you think there's some sort of time dilation involved in how we got here? What's it like being contracted with a woman from a thousand years before you? I can't imagine that. Do you have children yet? She won't mind if I cook for you, will she?

Being married is pretty great. We don't have kids. And I think she'll only mind if you don't cook for her as well.
