I guess I should get out with it now, since I'm not thinking clearly these days. I don't remember the name I was given, but certain people throughout history have started to call me Adam or Methos. So I go with those, even if the irony's not lost on me. I'm five thousand years old, if not more. My diaries only go back so far, back to the time when people discovered the written word in all its various forms. Makes sense, yes?

The things you should know about me include the following;

I'm not looking to get hitched, nor am I looking to date anyone- man or woman. Why? Because my dearest Alexa died only a month ago. Should a former ex, wife or husband of mine show up, I'll deal with it from there. But honestly, if the Island knows what is good for itself and all the inhabitants here, there shouldn't be a sudden influx of all of Methos' exes, wives and husbands here. I've had enough of some of my worst nightmares coming true, thank you very much.

I love my beer. The reasons for it are quite self explanatory, although the concoction was quite different from what is served nowadays. Think Egypt. Think slave. Think Pyramid. But I can definitely assure you that no aliens built these. And I always get a little nervous when archaeologists have discovered a new mummy. Stop. You never know who you might unearth.

I sleep with my sword under my bed. I always sleep with one eye open. As much as approach me when I'm asleep and you will feel my sword against your neck. So, do yourselves a favor and knock. I'm also not opposed to using handguns.

So there you go.

I think I'll be going for a walk now. It's a rather beautiful day, isn't it?

I was property. Are you aware of the slaves in Egypt? And I was a Roman slave, bound to the whims of my mistress. Trust me. It doesn't matter. Not here.

Yes. I can't blame them.

It'll sink in eventually.

How can it not matter? Men cannot have changed so awfully much?

Perhaps I did not try to escape because there was nowhere else to go. After all, I had no home to go back to.

I hope so. I think I should like it, being free.

Most of them, yes. Conceptions, ideals and customs have changed a lot since you were alive last. There might be cultural differences, but Greece, Italy and all that's West, commonly share the same ideals. Which means that there's no slavery any more and that women are free to choose.

They had no homes to go back either. We made sure of that. Still didn't stop some of them.

It's bloody brilliant, isn't it? I like it a lot.

am glad that slavery is gone - for all who suffered it. Is it too much to hope that men no longer force women into intimacy as well?

Where would they go?

I think I like it, although it is still very strange.

Rape happens still, although it's no longer an accepted practice. Last I heard, someone was actually sentenced to death for such a crime.

Another village. Another after that if necessary.

I remember that. Give it time.

As they should be. It is a wicked crime, it steals not only your innocence but your very autonomy. I should hope that from now on, my favor will be bestowed only on those whom I choose...if anyone at all.

That is understandable.

I want to thank you for being so kind to me. You've truly made it easier for me to adjust to being here.
