I guess I should get out with it now, since I'm not thinking clearly these days. I don't remember the name I was given, but certain people throughout history have started to call me Adam or Methos. So I go with those, even if the irony's not lost on me. I'm five thousand years old, if not more. My diaries only go back so far, back to the time when people discovered the written word in all its various forms. Makes sense, yes?

The things you should know about me include the following;

I'm not looking to get hitched, nor am I looking to date anyone- man or woman. Why? Because my dearest Alexa died only a month ago. Should a former ex, wife or husband of mine show up, I'll deal with it from there. But honestly, if the Island knows what is good for itself and all the inhabitants here, there shouldn't be a sudden influx of all of Methos' exes, wives and husbands here. I've had enough of some of my worst nightmares coming true, thank you very much.

I love my beer. The reasons for it are quite self explanatory, although the concoction was quite different from what is served nowadays. Think Egypt. Think slave. Think Pyramid. But I can definitely assure you that no aliens built these. And I always get a little nervous when archaeologists have discovered a new mummy. Stop. You never know who you might unearth.

I sleep with my sword under my bed. I always sleep with one eye open. As much as approach me when I'm asleep and you will feel my sword against your neck. So, do yourselves a favor and knock. I'm also not opposed to using handguns.

So there you go.

I think I'll be going for a walk now. It's a rather beautiful day, isn't it?

What made you decide to 'Come out of the closet'?

There is no Game here, Macleod. It's just you and me.

You are...very old, sir. How can that be? Are you a god?

They called me that once upon a time.

But no. I'm just a mortal who can't die.

A 'mortal' who can't die is rather a contradiction, isn't it?

It must be a very lonely life, knowing that you will live forever.

Well, we can die. Just not through sickness and old age.

Nah, it's not lonely. Plenty of people on this earth.

Yes...but it would be so sad and lonely to make friends and fall in love when you knew that one day they were just going to die.

I have friends who are like me, if that is what you mean.

Everyone dies. Shouldn't stop anyone from befriending them. Or marrying them.

I do not know if I could bear to lose those I love again and again.

The human heart's stronger than one might think. But I agree that it might not be for everyone.

Rather than that, I would say that the human soul has a great capacity for pain. Too great, perhaps.

Perhaps. But time heals all wounds. And time is something I unarguably have.

I suppose that is true.

But I cannot imagine that wounds are pleasant, no matter how much time you have to heal from them.

I've had a rough few months, but I'll be fine soon enough.

This island seems quiet enough.

Well, let me put it this way- my past doesn't come back to haunt me in an extremely unpleasant way.

You on the other hand, are a very welcome reminder. I loved my years in Greece.

I studied with Plato, dined with Aristotle, won marathons and had a statue erected in my honor. So basically yes. Good years.

I'm just a nameless man who managed to shake hands with history every once in a while. It was only later that I realized the significance of them. Not everybody makes it into the history books, after all.
