I have consulted the calendars and I have discovered that tomorrow is Palm Sunday. I realise that Mr Hume is no longer present, and that I am no clergyman. Still, I should like to mark the occasion, and so I will be making use of his multi-faith prayer room, if anyone wishes to join me over Easter week.

Palm Sunday (14th April) - 11am prayer and eucharist.

Maundy Thursday (18th April) - 11am prayer and chrism mass. I do not have holy oil, of course, but I will see what essential oils I can find, and provide water basins.

Good Friday (19th April) - 9am - meditation on Seven Last Words from the Cross / 4pm - evening prayer.

Holy Saturday (20th April) - 9am prayer / 4pm prayer.

Easter Sunday (21st April) - 5am dawn prayer / 11am eucharist / 6pm compline.

Thereafter, I shall recommence Sunday morning and Wednesday evening prayers. Even if you are not Christian, Mr Hume was very specific that this was a place for people of all faiths or no faith, so please do use it whenever and however you please. This is simply to let you know when there will be someone else there if you wish to pray or read together.

	Math isn't exactly my strong suit... I'll give you about a quarter of what I've got, that should be more than enough so you will have some for future use. If you need more I'll give you more, at least until I'm dangerously low, because I've gotta have this stuff just in case, because it's the only thing that will trap... things. 	Do you mean why does the date change? Or why stick to the date when we are in space and cannot be certain of the exact Earth date? If the latter, then a similar reason to why people continue to observe their birthday on an arbitrary date, I should imagine. The date is less important than the observance. Apologies, I was referring to the birthdays that time. Although, admittedly, I do take some comfort in structuring the passing of year this way. The church was very central to my life at home, and Easter is a festival of rebirth that is particularly poignant in the spring.

That point aside, I know the date is a guess at best, but it is the observance that is more important to me. Easter week is a period of reflection, meditation, gratitude, mourning and celebration. I wish to continue regardless of where I find myself, it gives me hope and strength. I do not expect anyone at all to join me if they do not wish to.

	I’m not sure. We used to dip dye them, and use string to make patterns. I suppose there are all sorts of different paints and pens now, we can experiment. I never even considered it. It is not particularly difficult, but it never seemed a good fit for me. Public speaking, for one. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	We used to have to set them in dye for ages, and you had to be careful that the shell hadn't cracked just a little while they had boiled or you would end up with dyed white too. Now the question is, who's kitchen do we make a mess in? Well, here, you wouldn't have to do too much public speaking. More one on one in a time of crisis, and what have you. Would it matter if the white dyed too? We tended to just roll ours down hills afterwards, not eat them. I do not mind us making a bit of a mess. ~~The kitchen is rarely used so~~

That is true, indeed. I think many of my views are quite outdated, and I'm not particularly good with most people. I suppose it is a 'calling', and I do not feel I have been 'called'. But I will do what I can in my current capacity, and make sure I keep listening for it just incase.

It would give the egg an odd taste, enough so that people wouldn't want to eat it. Unless they had an iron stomach. Most of our red dyes were got from scale insects, as it was rather hard to get madder root. Why would you roll the egg down a hill? I'll bring the eggs and the food color.

You know, I didn't even think of the 'calling'. I was... You're so kind Darcy, I suppose I haven't really seen that 'not good with people' side of you. And you put this thing together all on your own.

As I say, we never ate them. Which I'm only just realising was awfully privileged of us - to be able to throw eggs down a hill rather than eating them. I believe the scraps were given to the animals. We also usually dyed them with beetroot and that sort of thing, so it would do them no harm. Partly because it is meant to symbolise the rolling away of the stone from the tomb, partly because it's a bit of fun after the rather dreary period of lent.

I'm genuinely very pleased to hear that you think so. I am not very good at flattery, or feigning interest when I have none, or... sugar coating, I suppose. It rubs some people up the wrong way. Also, this was partly a selfish desire to desist in my hermiting away for a while.

No, it sounds like you and the people in your lands were well fed, and mostly happy, that you could afford to toss a few eggs down a hill for fun. There's nothing wrong with that. I am envious though. We only had dyed eggs. Now there are egg hunts. And for a number of years on the island we woke up to baskets full of goodies. Speaking of lent, which has seemed very long this year, how would you feel, after the midday eucharist, a feast of a roasted something, and some vegetables? Perhaps some deviled eggs? unless you have other plans, or think it would be best after evening prayer.

All good traits I assure you. I rather prefer something truthful over something false and sweet. And I think you could be forgiven the selfish desire, because you're also offering a service to others which is hardly selfish.

I have yet to experience Easter here. I must admit, I have not been as strict as I ought to have been over lent. All the switching bodies ~~and the grief~~ rather put it to the back of my mind. But still, I like your suggestion very much, and I have no other plans.

Good. People generally seem easier here. I certainly struggled with some of the social etiquette of my own time. People are less easily offended by the odd slip up here.

They are. No nobel houses to send in an uproar. Very few people actually care about status and houses. And you can see who you want, that is always grand.

Oh, Robin was twelve for a day and a half, and I woke up the other night to Guy screaming for me, but I've been here long enough to know to check phone before freaking out.

I might borrow the ovens of the unoccupied apartments close by and do pork, poultry and beef, and quit possibly fish halfway around the corridor, and we can all have sandwiches for a week or so. Haha he says now you have to learn soup.

Oh yes. I was never one to keep my tongue, but it is nice not to get in trouble for it.

Mostly yes. There are thing that I greatly miss, but I try not to let that weigh me down, or the good things here down either. I would ask you the same, but I think I know the answer to that question.
