	Maglev's so much easier, you know. Even when we have to revert to using wheels, the maglev still provides propulsion instead of having to sit right beside thousands of tiny hopefully-controlled explosions. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

They know theoretically that it's there, since the city's got to be built on something, but unless you have a very good reason for going there, nobody even thinks about it. No clouds. Nueva York is built on top of old New York. Nueva York's ground level is higher than the top of the Empire State Building. There are some parts where you can go right down through the levels to the actual ground level, but not many and it's thousands of feet down. It's why I was gawking all round me like some bithead when we first went through the New York door. I'd never been Downtown and seen proper daylight before.

Oh so Downtown is literally down. I want to ask a billion and one questions, but.. The one that sticks out the most is: how in the heck did they do that, without the lower portion sinking? A lot of the island the city is on was swamp land, it built on already insane foundation.
