Selfie Sunday!

Make a funny face! Post a pic! Show me those warm winter sweaters! Unless you're like me and don't wear them.

It's definitely difficult sometimes, deciding what should or shouldn't be slain for our own use. As hunter-gatherers, though, every thing at least gets put to good use. Even the bones are used for carving or instruments! At least...that's what I've heard. My ocarina is carved from whale bone.

Does the pretty eyed (and hair) lady have a name? I haven't properly met 99.9% of the island from this time!

I tend to wait for something to attack me first, at least until I find a willing participant. I used to have an elk bone flute.

I am Brynhild, but you, my charming boy, may call me Bryn.

A solid stance! I'll agree to that. And an elk bone flute sounds great. I had a small collection back home of my instruments. Whale bone is best to use when making magic making instruments.

It's a pleasure to meet you, Lady Bryn. I'm Rohan. Though I ask you not call me boy! ;) I'm a man for certain.

I do attempt to draw them in shamefully though.

Sadly the sounds that came from that flute were neither great nor magical, they sounded more like a goat giving birth to a backward kid. Well, when I attempted to use it anyway.

The pleasure is all mine Rohan. And I promise I meant no disrespect in calling you boy, your youthful exuberance was what prompted it. I do not doubt you are all man.

Oh! Fore shame! My heart is crushed!

That is sad. I'm sure at some point my music sounded that way, too. Most people start that way! It's a learning experience!

I'll forgive you just this once~

Predators only find prey tasty, and pretending to be a damsel in distress can be fun.

By daughter was better with it than I was, I didn't have the patience. I was more inclined to be part of the raiding party than I was to do anything that required a gentle hand.

I thank you for your forgiveness.

I do love to pretending to be a damsel in distress. It's one of my favorite past times.

Raiding party?

Oh? Do you swoon well?

Yes, I was, or am, a Shield maiden. Though I haven't been a maiden in a long time.

I am the best swooner and crooner you'll ever see.

That's a lie, I cannot sing very well despite my heritage.

That sounds like a fascinating career. Will you come and tell me about it? I've never met anyone with that kind of glorious story.

Would you out swoon me though?

Well, you are good at musical instruments aren't you? I think that takes more talent than singing does.

If you'd like, where can I find you?

Well, I think men and women swoon very differently and for very different reasons. No doubt you would win, though. You likely have FAR more practice than myself.

I am, and I think that's debatable. Don't tell the mers who descend from Miromara; they'll probably be pretty upset. I've heard in their true world's past that singing was the only way to produce magic and if they could not they were basically outcasts!

Depends on how cold you want to be? I think it would be okay to have visitors, so you could come to the Temple. Or I can come outside and meet you around the pier. The Temple might be easier. It's definitely warmer. You could even join me for a swim.

Well it would absolutely depend on the dramatics put in the swooning, if it were just for playful sake. Though I only did it in the sixteen and seventeen hundreds. When I didn't have a thrall.

Oh dear, so they didn't have anyone to accompany their vocals?

Whichever you are most comfortable in. The cold doesn't bother me. But I'll bring my swimsuit.

That's quite a history!

They did, I think? But song magic is different from performance.

Come on over to the temple any time. I'll be cutting diamonds out there in the ice water!

I am quite old.

It seems rather cruel to ostracize someone just because they can't sing.

I definitely will.

As long as I feed I'll stay pret I was changed when I was in my twenties.

Were you born here, or there?

Changed? How so?

I am from the island, but many of my family and friend's families are from Miromara the original. But I guess I shouldn't make it sound like they're the only mers there. We have people from all over. There are people from Atlantis who talk about very different cities, even if they're both from the same named lost empire. If they use songspells they're probably from Miromara. If they don't they're probably from somewhere else.

I am a vampire.

Ah, well, if they ever banished you, for not being able to sing, it would be a grave loss. I've had to ban more Siren from my club for using their songs than I have any other species, even the more violent ones.

Oh. Okay then!

The songs from my family don't really work that way. We're not hypnotic or suggestive like sirens of stories. It's more like saying an incantation to cast a spell. Abracadabra kind of thing.

If I didn't feed I would shrivel up into something that looks closer to my age. I assume anyway, I've never tested it, nor do I want to.

Well that's good. The ones I have come across are... Well they aren't the sort to wait for permission to do anything.

I think it's best not to test the theory, either, for your health!

I've never met anyone like that. At least not here, but you certainly hear about it.

Well it wouldn't kill me, but I wouldn't be very comfortable either.

If there was, I'm sure a few people would be a little more than angry about it.
