Nothing like three two year olds, and a four year old singing Hi Ho, as they protest sleep.

Wow, that definitely earns my respect. I have had to wrangle a group of young students like that a few times...young kids have a lot of energy, that's for sure.

[He picks up on what she said about one not being able to hear it.] Is the one deaf? I'm sorry to hear that. Although it certainly needn't be an impediment.

Fortunately I'm not on my own. I have my two husbands, and my wife, and between us we manage to get everyone properly fed, reasonably dressed for the nudist stage, and usually clean.

She'll be a year old next month, but already she knows the sign for milk, so she's definitely on a good path.

That sounds like a nontraditonal setup for sure. I'm not one to judge, though. There's a lot out there, and we can't always consider our views and culture to be the only right one.

[He knows that a lot of races have different family structures and things like that, and he supposes it's not unheard of for one species to have differences among populations. He can't even be sure she's human.]

Glad it keeps the kids happy.

She sounds like a smart one.

What was tough for me is that most of my family has...well, special abilities. And when there are three of them who don't know how to control their abilities just yet and have figured out how to use them to get things they want...it's a challenge. Even the communication's not exactly typical at times.

[They were always trying to grab things with the Force or throw things with it, and they were far too interested in mommy's and uncle Luke's lightsabers sometimes. Plus they knew how to communicate mentally. Not always words, but pictures and emotions. It could get very interesting watching them.

Fortunately, they're older now. Independent teens with a double dose of stubborn and adventurousness from both parents, but it's still not too bad.

Either way, I'm still glad I only have one. He's enough of a handful sometimes. You're lucky that it sounds like everyone's here. I miss my wife and son very much.

It's nontraditional where we come from too. But here, there aren't really any rules where that sort of thing is considered. Sometimes you love someone, sometimes you love more than one someone.

They are what's important. They are the future.

Both of her parents are very very smart, so she would come by it honestly.

I only have one that has special abilities. So far anyway. Usually, when our 'special abilities' appear it's not until puberty. But Barney seems to have a handle on what he can do, so far, which is very surprising for a two year old.

I only have one teenager right now. And he's... as sweet as they come.

I didn't have anyone before this place. Besides my brother, and... he's not here anymore. But it is never too late for some to show up.

Yeah, that's true. Our children are the most important thing for us.

Wow, that's nice...Barney sounds like a smart boy.

Well, I'm glad you have them now. It's always hard to be alone. I did hear that it's better here for some than back home...it's a good thing they came here in that case.

He is, he's very smart. We wont know how much of a grasp he has, or even how much he can actually do for a while yet. When he has a better grasp on speaking.

So am I. I'm pretty sure I'd be a raving nutcase without them. But don't lose heart Luke. I'm sure your family will show.

It usually does take a while, yeah. It's easier once they can talk.

I hope they do. Things back home are chaotic at times. It might be a nice place to get away from it for a while, before we all have to go back to it

I don't know if there will be a limit though. He's what my kind would call a darwinian. He pretty much does everything. He hid from ultrasounds, and a friend, he's grown gills when it's bathtime since his very first one... I have a list of everything I've witnessed, but it's not handy at the moment.

This place does get crazy too, but so far it's been a manageable sort of crazy. As long as we work together.

I have to admit that's all a little confusing to me. I'm sure that a lot of things I'm familiar with might confuse someone in the same way, though, if they weren't familiar with my world.

Yeah, that's a good thing. We don't do too badly, overall.

If there were more than just me, Sean and Laura, and now him, he'd be called a Darwinian. But mutants and Jedi are not that far apart, depending on the mutant.

We haven't so far, and we've been attacked by giant Robots, while some of us were powerless, and giant aliens... This year has been fairly quiet. But I'm definitely knocking on wood as I type that out.

Do you mean like genetic mutations? A lot of what my predecessors knew got lost, but there were mentions of something called 'midichlorians' in the blood, so that might well be true. It does seem to be inherited sometimes.

Wow...it sounds like just about anything can happen here. I hope everyone came through all right.

Yes. It's kind of like being a Jedi, in that aspect to. Two seemingly normal parents can have a mutant child, just like two mutant parents can have a normal child, but the odds go up with a mutant parent that the child will have a mutation. But usually it doesn't become active until they're in their teens. Barney is rare.

As far as I know they did, the Dead were revived, the injured healed, in the end.

It kind of sounds familiar, yeah. Something like that.

In our case, it starts when they're babies...although in some cases, like mine, they don't even know they have it until someone finds them as an adult. I knew as time passed that it had always been part of me, but but if my family had told me anything back then, it would have been dangerous.

I'm glad things are going all right so far for you. Your kids seem quite lucky.

That's good, at least. It's hard to imagine temporarily dying, but at least it isn't permanent. That wouldn't be right
