Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:adam young, dean winchester, lucifer, meri winchester (oc)

WHO: Dean Winchester, Lucifer, & Meri Winchester (with a cameo appearance by Adam Young)
WHAT: Lucifer is his usual "genial" self. Dean isn't really in the mood to play nice. Unfortunately, Meri ends up in the middle.
WHEN: October 15th; Evening
WHERE: The Communal Lodgings
RATING: R (violence, callous disregard for human life, character death)
STATUS: COMPLETE

Lucifer had plenty of practice in sitting and waiting. More than his fair share, he would be willing to say, and while he wasn't too keen on just sitting around and allowing whatever machinations were behind this plan of his Father's unfurl themselves naturally, he didn't seem to have too much of a choice in that matter. The people who tried to leave the city only seemed to end up right back where they started, and he wasn't about to risk being blasted into the nexus of nowhere just because he couldn't sit still. Besides, there were plenty of things to poke at here to keep him entertained. Adam had been fun, taunting him and threatening until he'd finally succumb to Lucifer's wishes. Mini golf had been enjoyable in and of itself, but Adam's terrified face as he was forced to play each round had just been the icing on the deliciously wicked cake.

And now, Lucifer was going for the ice cream chaser that was having a go at Dean Winchester.

The man seemed different from the last time he'd spoken to him. Harder, more weary. But really, as difficult as the varying degrees of broken little boy in Dean were to tell apart, Lucifer could still spot that there was something that had happened that he didn't have the knowledge of. And Lucifer was quite intent on filling that gap in the best way that he knew how: whacking the pinata until it breaks.

Sidling up next to the elder Winchester outside the communal building, unsurprised by his seeming unease at being cooped up with so many people at once, Lucifer shot the man a playful grin as he pushed himself in uncomfortably close, just drawing the line at throwing an arm around Dean's shoulders. He was taking a risk as it was, getting within arms length of the man. He wasn't about to give him something to hold onto in order to save an angel killing blade in between his ribs without him being able to twist away. "Dean, Dean, Dean. No baby brother, I see. Did you lose him, too?"

Adam ignored Dean for the moment, instead pinning Lucifer with a look that clearly said he wasn't at all interested in what was being said. "No, I don't reckon I'll be doing that," he replied with a slight shake of his head. "I reckon you can be human, for a while." He paused.

"It's not forever," he added reasonably. As though that was going to make it all better. Or maybe just to add insult to injury. It was difficult to tell. He was the son of the Devil, after all. Still. He felt only right, pointing out that it wasn't all bad. "Just until you've learned you can't go around picking on folks just because you can. That's all."

Finally, he glanced toward Dean. "Hey there," he said with a bright smile. "Name's Adam. Adam Young. Nice to meetcha. I don't think he'll be bothering you anymore, so you can go do whatever it is you were going to do and leave him be." He paused, considered, and added, "Not that I'm saying you have to go. You can hang around. It don't much matter to me either two ways."

Daddy? Holy shit, this kid was the son of the devil. Because it was pretty obvious that this was different than those demons who called Lucifer their father. When the fuck had that happened and why hadn't anyone told him? Seriously. The devil having a kid, especially one who actually seemed to be against the shit his father was doing, was the kind of thing someone like him kind of wanted to know about. Dean just watched the two of them, staring in blatant shock, taking in what could only be called irritated whining from Lucifer and calm replies from the kid. Then it hit him. Lucifer was human. He could be killed. It didn't matter that he technically wasn't a monster any more. The things he'd done didn't deserve forgiveness.

But then the kid - antichrist...or Adam he guessed - was talking to him. And Dean got the sense if he hauled off and murdered Lucifer when Adam was trying to teach him a lesson, the pint-sized powerhouse would have something to say about that. And Dean might have been kind of dumb at times, but he wasn't stupid enough to face off against the kind of kid who had the power to turn Lucifer human. Besides, this was going to last a while. Nothing said he couldn't take the devil out later if he provoked it. A plan in mind, Dean gave Adam a nod. "Nice to meet you too, Adam," he said. "Got a brother with that name. And...thanks. I'm gonna head on, but if you need anything, you just give me a call, okay?"

Leaving the former angel, now human Lucifer with Adam, he made his way over to the little girl's body, staring down at it. Like hell was he gonna leave her alone out here after she was killed looking out for him. Picking her up gently, he spared a glance at the other nearby child - a boy holding a baby - and tilted his head toward the building they were all staying in. "Come on, kid," he said. "We should get inside." They'd need to figure out something to do for the girl, he just wasn't quite sure what yet.

Lucifer figured he should be grateful, grateful that Adam had made it rather clear to Dean that he wasn't to be killed and that Dean hadn't decided that trying any way (at the moment, at least) was worth it, but he didn't feel anything even remotely resembling gratitude at the moment. Instead, he was glancing between Dean and Adam with a quiet fury and apprehensive raising in his gut. He was human. He was the thing that he loathed the most in this entire existence, and he was just going to have to live with it until his misbehaving son decided otherwise.

Since when was giving anyone more power than himself a good idea? It seemed like the worst idea ever at the moment. Maybe Father had been right in making sure that there was a clear pecking order in their birth order...even if Lucifer would forever be annoyed that meant Michael could keep him well under his thumb given the opportunity.

"I suppose just asking nicely isn't going to work, huh?" Lucifer asked, turning his gaze back to Adam as Dean left with heavy annoyance tainting the words. He wanted to lash out at Adam, do something, anything, but Lucifer knew that if he tried, this would likely only end up worse. Not that he could think of anything much worse than being human.

Maybe being a dog. But at least he could bite people then.

Adam shook his head, watching as Dean carried the dead girl away. The sight of her only made him even more sure he'd done the right thing. He looked back to Lucifer, a decisive gleam in his eyes. "You need to learn," he said in a matter-of-fact way. His hands slid back into the pockets of his jeans as he turned away and began making his way down the walkway leading to the street.

Pausing as he reached the sidewalk, Adam glanced back up and over at him. His expression was an unreadable one, his body language completely casual. He clearly wasn't bothered by how this was affecting Lucifer. Slowly, he arched an eyebrow and tacked on, "Try being nice. Maybe, if you're lucky, you'll find somebody willing to help you out."

Then he turned and headed away from the building, wanting to go for a walk and clear his head. Grown-ups, he decided sometimes, could be so stupid. Especially when they had lots of power. And now a girl was dead. Briefly, Adam thought of willing her back but knew, somehow, he'd get in big trouble for that one. So this was just going to have to do.

Unfortunately, he doubted it would stick. Someone, at some point, was going to kill Lucifer. He was all but sure of it. It was just a question of when.
