WHO: Enigma and Sirius Black
WHAT:" Ice cream. Why not?
WHEN: After this.
WHERE: Main City
STATUS: In Progress/Closed

Sirius wasn't exactly the best at keeping still and being cooped up inside on a regular day. When he was just getting over the fact that he wasn't going to be locked up for the rest of his life, getting him to stay inside was more or less impossible. He'd quickly scrawled Remus a note explaining where he'd gone, promising to be back in a couple of hours for the moon, and had apparated away to meet the red-headed girl he'd been chatting to over the network. It never really occurred to Sirius to worry about meeting strangers, even with all the mentals who ended up in Colligo. He was pretty used to taking care of himself, and if he was honest, the worst thing that could happen to him had already taken place. What more did he have to be afraid of?

He arrived in the street with a faint pop, nearly giving some poor old dear a heart attack. Sirius shot her what he hoped with a reassuring smile, although it probably came across as just alarming, and looked around for the girl with the odd name. Finally he caught a flash of the red hair, and had to fight back the image of Lily lying cold on the nursery floor. The memories didn't seem to want to leave him, even though he'd seen Lils and the baby only last night. He didn't think they ever would, and that thought made his stomach twist painfully.

Shaking his head to try and remove the image, the young Wizard shoved his hands into his pockets and loped towards the figure. He bloody hoped it was the right girl, anyway, or he was about to yell at a random. Oh well. It was all worth a shot.

"Oi! Red!"

"Uh, no...that came from my birth father," Enigma said and for a moment, her entire body actually stilled, the small, manic bouncing she had been displaying vanishing. "It was my only connection to him for quite a while," she added before shaking her head, shoving off the memories of longing and pain.

"My foster father named me Effie, actually. Since I needed a first name for my school records. He said he opened a baby name book an picked the first one he saw, since the name didn't matter for anything but a line on a form...I've been called Enigma by everyone around since I was born."

"Huh." Sirius looked down at her. That was weird. But then, loads of the people here were weird. He needed to remember how to stop being surprised by it all. Anyway, it looked a bit like this conversation was bumming her out. Sirius shrugged and shot her his infamous grin, lazy and slightly crooked. "Well, count yourself lucky. All my family are named after stars. Family meals used to sound like a really crap astronomy lesson."

Not that Sirius had been to any of those since he was about fourteen and learnt how to piss off out or lock himself away without them being able to force him to join in. Just thinking of that house put Sirius on edge, as a matter of fact, and he was glad when the queue they were in stepped forward. Instead he reached up and shoved his hair back from his forehead.

"Go on then. Recommend me a flavour now. Before we get to the front and I piss everyone off by not knowing what to have."

"Well, if you want to be boring there's vanilla," she said, grinning up at him. "Or chocolate, but for daring...I see they have a bacon flavor," she said, giggling. "Think you're in the mood for that?"

She reached out, sliding her hand into his, her fingers loosely wrapped around his, making it more a friendly gesture then a romantic one. "I think I might try the licorice," she said, pointing to a deep, black ice cream.

There had been a time when Sirius wouldn't have thought twice about attempting to pull her. When he'd first arrived in Colligo the first time, he'd been sleeping with a bunch of people. But he'd never lied to any of them, or think it was anything more than it was. Still, the hand in his was more friendly than anything else, and he held on loosely.

"You sure?" he grinned, nodding into the cabinet. "Not sweetcorn?"

"Na, I'm in the mood for bittersweet, not savory sweet," she said honestly, moving with the line as it shifted, pulling him along with her by their joined hands. "So, while you decide ice cream flavors...tell me about his boyfriend of yours that is keeping me from jumping on you like a limpet," She gave him a grin, a bit of wickedness peeking through the innocence. "Is he any good in bed?"

Sirius blinked down at her, for once taken by surprise. Then he let out a bark of laughter. "Merlin. You don't beat around the bush, do you?"

Still, luckily he found that kind of thing kind of funny rather than completely mortifying, and offered a bright, if suddenly slightly shy grin, pushing his hair back with his free hand. Sirius didn't really discuss his and Remus' relationship much. It always felt too... personal to be brandishing about like he had when it came to his previous conquests. Still, a straight question deserved a straight answer. Or as straight as the situation would allow, anyway.

"Yeah," he grinned cheekily to himself. "Yeah, he is. Only he doesn't remember because he got sent home and had his memory of it wiped before coming back again. So I had to kind of win him over all over again and... well, I can remember sleeping with him, but he doesn't remember sleeping with me."

"Why bother playing coy, it just takes forever and often doesn't get what you want. In my mind, your hot, I'm interested, why play games?" She said with a shrug, before wincing at his description.

"Ouch, that sucks. At least he still cares about you, it would be worse if he came back and didn't fee the same way," she said, giving his hand a gentle squeeze. "Hopefully this time you guys get a nice, long while before either of you are sent back."

Sirius grinned. He was aware of what he looked like, and who didn't love a bit of flattery? "Well, if you'd met me a year or so ago..." he laughed, shaking his head as the queue moved forward again. She was hot, after all, and he wasn't blind.

He shrugged. "It could definitely be worse," he agreed. He could be at home, locked up in that cold cell. He could have forgotten Remus, or Remus could have decided he didn't want him. Having to start again seemed a small price to pay, really.

"What about you?" Sirius asked, turning back to look at her. "Completely free and single?"

"You're a wizard, can't you turn back time?" she teased. "And completely, not even a boyfriend back home to pine away over. Then again, most guys in mine line of work don't live long and those outside of it tend not to be interested in people like me," she said with a shrug. "Either the crazy puts them off or the fact I kill people,"

Sirius snorted. "Doesn't quite work that way," he admitted. "Plus, I don't have a wand at the moment, so..." He wriggled his eyebrows playfully in her direction. It was easier to make a joke of the whole thing, after all. Easier than admit how it felt, having them snap it in front of his eyes and shove him away into some dank, dark pit. He held back a shudder, staring instead into the collection of colourful treats in the cabinet.

Then she spoke again and Sirius' head snapped round to face her, gaze searching out any hint of a lie or joke in the young, pretty features. Had she actually killed people? He'd been arrested for mass murder, but he'd been innocent. And there were Death Eaters that probaably hadn't come off too well from clashes with the Order but... Sirius frowned at her. "Eh?" he asked. Perhaps he'd misunderstood.

Enigma, for all that she played it off, wasn't an idiot. He tried to hide it but she could see a flash of pain across his face as he spoke of his wand and she gave his hand a gentle squeeze, not pushing the subject, unwilling to force more pain on him.

"Eh...what?" she asked, looking up at him, curling one of her pigtails around a finger. "Don't tell me you're judgmental too, that would be such a disappointment."
