It was difficult, working without leads, contacts, allies. He was good, he was one of the best, but he wasn't a magician. He couldn't conjure the man out of thin air. Still, all his intelligence pointed to Harkness being here. They wouldn't have sent a top agent if they weren't completely sure; at least, he hoped they wouldn't.

He'd settled into his assigned flat, although that hadn't taken long. He didn't expect to spend much time there, it wasn't like wanted assassins just came up and knocked on the door. Once that was done, he headed out into the streets, not sure what he was looking for. Yet.

OOC: Meet Jones. Ianto Jones. Ianto was fired from Torchwood One and had his memory erased for voicing doubts about the use of the Ghost Machine. The government was still interested in him, though, so he was transferred and became a secret agent. He never returned to Cardiff and never worked for Torchwood Three. As far as he knows, Jack Harkness is a suspected assassin he has been assigned to track.

	Despite the fact that this was the guy who'd made clear he would arrest Jack and didn't care what happened, Jack snapped right to concern and ran over to Jones, bringing an arm up and ready to ease Jones to the floor if his legs gave out. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	His brain felt like it was...melting, or breaking, and he kept hearing things and seeing things that he knew couldn't be real. But that, "if it's alien, it's ours," someone was saying it, again and again and again....it had to be important, somehow... (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Jones had reacted badly to the medical scanning before, so when Jack ran another, he made sure not to display the hologram. He took the readings silently, an arm around Jones as he reviewed them.

There was a chemical compound in Jones' system, and if the scans were right, it was a memory suppressant. Something to do with the government, it must be, because how the hell else would anyone in this time have access to substances like that?

	Well, this was a strange situation to begin with, so what was a little support with all the other strangeness? Jack kept quiet in case speaking just made it worse, using his wrist comp to monitor Jones' vitals in case something went wrong. He eased them both to sit on the floor, backs against a wall.
