WHO: Sherlock Holmes, Jim Moriarty, & ickle!Mycroft Holmes
WHAT: Two very inept men attempt to babysit Mycroft. Speculations on just how much they're going to die when Mycroft is back to normal welcome.
WHEN: After this
WHERE: Sherlock's flat
RATING: PG
STATUS: In Progress

It had been quite a chore for Sherlock to get used to having a child around. Even if it was his brother and therefore not nearly as irritating as a 'normal' child would have been, it was still a major adjustment. After several admonishing looks and 'so not good's from John, though, Sherlock was pretty sure that he'd managed to figure out what was inappropriate to say and how to managed not upsetting Mycroft as much as he had during their first conversation. It was odd, having to deal with his brother with a sympathetic touch instead of one that resulted in acerbic banter, but Sherlock was slowly getting used to the differences. It was a small matter to deal with his brother when John and Hermione were around to assist as well since they seemed to have a better idea what needed to be done than he did, but with the both of them at work, Sherlock had quickly found himself floundering.

And that was when he'd gotten Jim's text. While he would have enjoyed running out to cure Jim's boredom, Sherlock did have enough sense of responsibility to know that he had to stay here and be a proper big brother. Of course, that was when the thought had struck him, and he'd decided that inviting Jim to assist was somehow a brilliant idea. John would likely kill him for it, and he knew that when Mycroft was back to himself, he would most definitely give him an earful for allowing such a man anywhere close to him.

But at the moment, he could really use the help.

Mycroft wasn't stupid. He knew that Sherlock was keeping something from him, was saying it in such a way that it didn't sound as bad as it likely was. He might not know this older version of his brother very well but he could see that as clearly as the nose on his face. However, Mycroft didn't push the issue. There just didn't seem any point to it and, if the other man coming over might harm others if he wasn't entertained, well, far be it from Mycroft to stop the potential protection of innocent people.

Besides, if his brother deemed him worthy enough to spend time with, he must be interesting. So there was that.

"Does it matter if it isn't?" he questioned in regards to it being all right. "You've already invited him. It'd be a bit rude to uninvite him." Besides, Mycroft was certainly intrigued at the idea of someone new to meet, even if the man might be a bit dangerous. He trusted his brother not to put him in harm's way. At least, not intentionally.

Before he could say another word on the subject, there was the sound of the front door opening. Turning in his chair, he watched as a man he hadn't seen before stepped inside. The first thing he noticed was how the man held himself, the clothing he wore, even the look on his face. Clearly this stranger believed that looking one's best was important but that wasn't what got Mycroft's interest.

It was his eyes. There was something in them, something wrong, a madness mixed with intelligence that chilled the boy studying him directly to the bone. Seemingly without realizing it, Mycroft slid a bit further down in his seat as though he was trying to make himself barely noticeable. The man noticed, gaze flickering briefly to him and an off-putting smile twisting his features.

"Oh my," Jim said with delight, stepping further into the room. "This certainly looks interesting..."
