Who: Eames and Morpheus
What: Teatime!
When: Last night after this
Where: Sixth floor corridor, Building A.

Eames only realised after he'd made the two mugs of tea that he hadn't bothered to ask Morpheus how he took it. He'd just automatically made two mugs the way he liked tea (strong, no sugar, a spot of milk) and he had to hope that would be okay. Digging in the cupboard, he found the last packet of Jaffa cakes and decided that he should introduce the boss to the reality of the lovely little biscuitty-cake things.

Armed with his tea and biscuits (one mug in each hand, and the box tucked under his arm), he went round to Morpheus's front door and kicked it twice. He had no free hands, after all. "Come on, boss, open up," he said, just loud enough to be heard in the flat, "I've got tea and Jaffa cakes. This combination can cure most things that ail you. Proven fact." The only other biscuits that came close were either custard creams or chocolate hobnobs, and they weren't that close, in Eames' humble opinion.

Morpheua--or Murphy, as Ariadne had taken to calling him, in his present state--had to actually walk to the door to open it, but he was expecting Eames, so it didn't take that long. He'd made sure he wouldn't be too busy with anything else.

"I'm human," he said, as he swung the door wide, though he respected Eames' request not to invite him in. "Not deaf." He held out his hand to relieve the man of one of the mugs. "Let's see if these snack cakes are anywhere near as good as you believe they are."

"Oh, ye of little faith. These are the best things to have with tea, except maybe toast," Eames replied as he passed over the mug, before taking a drink from his own. "I forgot to check how you like your tea, so this is how I take it. Hope that's okay."

Once Morpheus had taken the mug, Eames kept moving his hand forward, frowning as it quickly became impossible for him to go any further. "Huh. Same as usual. This is all such shit."

"This is fine," Morpheus replied, raising the mug in toast. He wouldn't have had any fear for his safety under normal circumstances--after all, he had survived a week or so of marriage to a particularly willful vampiress just fine--but these were far from normal circumstances. But he did find himself a bit more concerned and sympathetic for his friend.

"Would you like a chair? I could push one out for you. Or we could both be as miserable as possible and sit on the floor."

"The floor is fine, thank you," he said as he dropped down to sit cross-legged on the floor. "So, how's being human working for you? Because being a vampire is horrendous," he started, opening the Jaffa cakes as he did so. He took two out, then passed the rest of the packet over towards Morpheus. Well, as far as he could pass it, anyway.

"The obvious things aside, I can't dream properly. I'm just... there. Completely inert. I show up in whatever I'm wearing when I fall asleep, I'm stuck as myself only with the stupid eyes and fangs, I can't change anything, I can't summon anything, I'm just... useless. So that was unexpected and completely awful. This is by far the worst experiment yet," he rambled, clearly still feeling slightly giddy from the effects of the blood he'd had earlier in the evening. "Have you tried anything?"

Morpeus sat in the doorway, just inside the threshold, and pulled the package of cakes inside. He shrugged his shoulders gently as he sipped his tea, then shook his head.

"I haven't tried anything, aside from eating, sleeping, and walking in the park. And keeping up with my theatre class, of course. You know, it's so much more work when I can't just nudge an idea into their heads to direct them the way I want?" He laughed. "They actually have to act now."

"Good Lord, having to teach like a normal person," he said with a smile. "If I could do what you usually do with my art class, we'd be churning out masterpieces every week. I haven't been near my class, actually. I didn't want to risk it, so Mr. Earnshaw had an unfortunate relapse of his nasty flu."

He took another mouthful of tea and then gestured towards the Jaffa cakes. "Try them. I won't be offended if your opinion of them is wrong."

"It's a good thing your students know that Mr. Earnshaw has a cousin, so they won't mistake your roommate for you, playing hooky." Though it seemed Eames wasn't all that unlike his nineteenth century counterpart.

Dream picked up one of the cakes and nibbled on it thoughtfully, savoring the chocolate and orange, then nodded, and finished it off. "It is good," he said, "But it would be better if it was baked from scratch and warm from the oven."
