WHO: Juno & Ariadne, with guest appearances by Regulus & Eames.
WHAT: Juno goes out to play in the snow. Merry Mistletoe Madness ensues.
WHEN: Thursday afternoon, while Reg & Eames are out pub-crawling
WHERE: Outdoors
RATING: PG13 for girl-on-girl smoochin'?
STATUS: In Progress

Juno had finished wrapping all the gifts that she'd collected, and bundled up to go play abdominal snow-monster. Yes, abdominal, because she was so round in the middle. There was really no hiding the bump now, even in her big, puffy jacket.

She'd tossed a few snowballs with some random kids, built a series of snow-persons, and miraculously managed to avoid being accosted by any stray mistletoe. She was feeling pretty pleased with herself as she tromped through the sparkling white drifts, finally finding one that was unspoiled by boot-prints.

It sloped gently upward, so that she could lean backward and fall onto it without too much difficulty, arms and legs akimbo. She wiggled them a little, giggling as she created her snow-angel. It would probably have a slightly deeper indentation in the middle where her butt had hit first. Getting again up would be the tricky part.

"Those things are so bad for you anyway," Juno rambled, dusting the snow off her backside. "They were probably designed by men to make our asses stick out where they can grab it. Not that mine doesn't stick out anyway, under the circumstances, but thank god I just get strange women grabbing my stomach."

She smirked. "Who knew I was such a chick magnet. You want to get some hot chocolate or something, while the guys are out getting marinated, or whatever?"

"Oh, totally. And when you're this short it just makes you look like you're trying too hard." Ariadne glanced at Juno's belly and shook her head. "If someone tried that I'd break their fingers." And Eames would show her how to do so, no doubt. But that was a hypothetical situation she didn't want to pursue.

She smiled, putting her hands back in her pockets. "Sounds good. I know I'm definitely looking forward to spending Christmas Eve with a hungover Eames. I think I'll suggest to Phillipa that she have him recite 'Twas the Night Before Christmas."

"''Twas the night before Christmas, and out in the garage, not an engine was running, not even the Dodge,'" Juno recited with a smirk, "'The tires were hung by the rafters with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas would fill them with air.' The question is," she added, without segue, "Do you want to head back to the apartments, or tromp down to the coffee shop?"

Ariadne giggled. "I think the apartments. It's pretty nuts down there. Apparently the locals procrastinate on their shopping just as much as everyone else." She felt a sharp, sudden pang at the remembrance of Christmas spent at home and in Paris. No use thinking on that now. "I'm sure we can rustle up something, anyway."

"Yeah," Juno agreed, heading in the general direction of what was now home. "Reg keeps me pretty well supplied with chocolate in all its various forms. I think someone told him it was the best way to kiss up to hormonal females. Not that he's a bad kisser, mind you."

She grimaced, realizing that Ariadne was one of the reasons Regulus had felt he needed to kiss and make up lately. "But I guess you'd know that."

Ariadne put her hand over her eyes, rubbing them and making a similar grimace. "Yeah, about that. Should I apologize? I mean, it wasn't either of our fault, and he seemed pretty upset about it, but he said he wasn't actually going to kill Sirius, since we figured it was his fault." She shut her mouth to stop the babble with an audible click. "Sorry, I'm tired. Long week."

"Nah," Juno hedged, fidgeting with the ends of her scarf. "I mean, I was a little upset, but not at either one of you. And Reg already apologized pretty eloquently, so to speak..."

She paused near one of the side entrances, hardly noticing the beribboned holiday wreath, festooned with holly berries and other seasonal flora. What she did notice was that Ariadne was damn cute when she got flustered. She wondered if she looked that cute herself, with the rosy cheeks and the button nose...

"I mean, for all that we look alike, it's not like you and I are identical twins or anything." And Ariadne was hardly feeling sisterly towards Juno. The cold weather had pinked the cheeks of the younger girl, and perhaps it was narcissistic to say so but she thought Juno was pretty adorable. Of course, her thoughts would never have turned this way if it weren't for the mistletoe on the wreath.

"I wish I could make it up to you somehow, though," she added, stopping near Juno and flicking some snow off her shoulder.

It was true, they did look like sisters, but not identical. Ariadne had a much more elegant--if practical--sense of fashion, and Juno still had some baby fat in more than one sense of the word. But if it was anything like looking into a mirror a few years down the road, Juno was starting to feel pretty good about herself. And she could totally see why Regulus would want to kiss that face.

"Maybe you can," she murmured, moving a little closer. She already had some practice maneuvering around the baby bump, and Ariadne was much closer to her own height than Regulus was. "What did you have in mind?"

Ariadne brushed a lock of Juno's hair back - straight, it always mystified her how her own hair could be so curly while the other girl's was much straighter - and smiled slightly. "Oh, I was thinking something simple. Like this," she said, leaning in and pressing her lips softly to Juno's.

Did they, or did they not discuss what had just happened? It seemed Regulus and Eames were opting for the latter and were even going so far as to throw in a dash of awkward, complete non-talking as well. They walked in silence, both slightly buzzed from the few drinks they'd had previous to falling victim to more Christmas weeds. It was for the best, probably, as this coupling carried a bit of cruelty to the whole thing that Regulus could neither apologize, it wasn't his fault, nor make up for, unless Eames wanted his memory erased, which Regulus was sure the man would not appreciate.

Yes, silence it was.

They rounded the final corner and came upon the a sight that did more than make Regulus speechless, it stopped him in his tracks. Juno and Ariadne. Kissing. That was... A sight. And Regulus' response to it all was open-mouth gawking.

What a night.

Ariadne's lips touched hers, and at that precise moment, Juno couldn't think of anything she'd ever wanted more. Her hands slid to the older girl's narrow waist, head tilting, and lips parted to return the kiss. It was simple, tender, and the moment seemed almost endless, receding like a gentle wave as Juno slowly withdrew...

And blinked, first at Ariadne, then down at her hands. And then at the pair that had just rounded the corner. She let go of Ariadne, one hand flying to her mouth as she realized what had just happened. She too had been momentarily stupefied.

By this point, falling victim to the mistletoe two and a half times, that moment with his brother, of which he would never speak counted for something but considering they had not kissed it couldn't be considered a whole defeat, by this point Regulus was more or less just simply stunned with a side of resignation. He sighed, tried to say a few things but nothing of real coherent importance. So he stopped for a moment, taking in the stunned look of both girls, how eerily similar they were, and then sighed again. Long night.

"There's mistletoe behind you," Regulus nodded to the wreath behind them. That was as good an explanation as this place had to offer.

Eames wasn't actually annoyed about kissing Reg. Not really. Well, he was a little bit, but it wasn't Reg's fault that for a split-second, Eames had been more than willing to let himself ignore the now-obvious differences between his friend and Arthur. And it had been after they'd kissed, as well. This place hated him at times, it seemed. But he didn't think Reg would appreciate being told that Eames was trying to see him as someone else, so he stayed quiet.

And then they turned a corner and holy shit that right there was impressive, wasn't it? He didn't gawk at the two girls, but he was very definitely enjoying what he was looking at. He was more than careful to keep his enjoyment off of his face, though, since he didn't think Ariadne would be too pleased if he looked like he was perving all over her. Neither would Juno, come to think of it, and given that Reg was quite taken with the younger girl, he wouldn't like it either. So Eames just decided to enjoy it properly later, and watched until the girls pulled apart, and Reg spoke to them.

"It's everywhere tonight, my dears. I wouldn't let it bother you too much," he said, well aware that he was doing exactly the opposite with regards to Reg.

Ariadne's hand went to cover her eyes rather than her mouth. She was suddenly even more tired than she had been before. "Regulus, can you set it on fire?" She'd left the book of matches up in her apartment. Maybe Eames would let her borrow his lighter. Or she could just tear the offending weed to pieces. "Before anybody else gets... affected." Oh god, she really did not want to think about that happening with the three of them there. Their little circle of friends was tangled up enough. This was the last thing they needed.

Juno floundered a few steps through the snow toward Regulus. Not that she was running from Ariadne, she was just attempting to put some distance between herself and the tricksy little wreath. She didn't think she'd met anything quite so unholy as Colligo's brand of mistletoe since she'd first made acquaintance with the little pink plus sign on a certain pregnancy test.

"You're so full of shit, Reg," she blurted out, "Ariadne is so a good kisser."

Regulus didn't need to be asked twice to destroy that particularly nasty weed, though he may have gone a bit overboard and ended up setting the whole wreath on fire in one spell. Anyone who complained might just get the same treatment, or an extremely exasperated glare. Christmas was over in two days, he had to remind himself. Just two more days of this free-will take over and then they might be done until the following year.

He was about to echo Eames, who he was rather pointedly not looking at, something that he wished he was better at hiding, but Juno seemed to beat him to speaking. And shocking everyone all over again. Damn her wildly unpredictable, and apparently rather kissable mouth.

He shifted his gaze nervously between his three friends, feeling like he'd just walked into a dragon trap that was tentatively being propped open on the worlds rustiest hinges. If he didn't choose his words carefully he would be in a rather precarious cauldron of boiling potion. "I rather emphatically focused on not liking being forced to do something I didn't want to do, by having my will taken away."
