Short answer? A load of stupid shit that didn't amount to much.

I made a deal to save Sammy's life, landed myself in the Pit. Angels- an angel, Castiel- pulled me out, but not until after this prophecy was started, about breaking seals and springing Lucifer from his box. Come to find out, the angels are rooting for it to happen, wind up taking on both Heaven and Hell at once trying to stop the damn thing.

Where I come from, we failed pretty awesomely. Sam took up Lucifer, the angels fucked off, and the Croatoan pandemic turned life into one big Romero zombie movie. Fought the fight for five years, before we took the last run at Lucifer, died, landed here.

Sounds like we were pretty much the object lesson for the Dean that's here- he saw how we came out, learned his lesson, and changed enough to stop it.
