All this talk of those who have been returned to their own realities only serves as a reminder of how long it has been since my own family was here. That is not to say that I would necessarily wish them here. I know full well that they are not the best of people, but they are my family and I do miss them.

I cannot say that I am pleased with Elena's absence, but I can only hope she will be happier at home than she was here. I know that she was not especially content here.

So the idea so widespread that everyone who comes to the place starts with a clean slate only applies to those who have not personally wronged you? I find that to be rather narrow-minded, Jenna.

Damon has killed people, as has Stefan. Lexi and Caroline both have as well. So have I. So has Alaric. But everyone here gets a chance. If my brother does show up, it is my hope he will be given that same chance.

Contrary to what you might think, or choose to believe, you were not the only person in this city that Elena was close with. You are not the only one who misses her. You are not the only one she cared for. She cared for many others, Elijah included. Whether or not you want to accept that fact isn't the point. It is the truth. Now if you have a problem with that fact, I suggest you take that up with Elena the next time the two of you meet. For now, though, I feel fairly safe in saying I'm not only speaking for myself when I say that you really need to sit down and be quiet before you make an even bigger ass of yourself than you already have by attempting to pick fights where none exist.

Also, shame on you for besmirching Elena's memory for acting this way. I'm sure she would have expected better from you.

I wasn't speaking solely of your response this time. Merely making an observation at your behavior recently. Particularly in regards to Elijah, who has done nothing since his time in this city but attempt to help others. What have you done, exactly?

As for who I am, I'm frankly relieved that you claim I'm a nobody. Considering how quickly human women tend to wind up dead around you, your not knowing me seems like the best way to ensure I survive beyond your next "slip up".

No, we aren't friends so spare me the false apologies. Or perhaps they're sincere, in which case you should probably look into that. It can't be healthy, feeling authentic sorrow toward strangers, after all.

As for whether or not it's a good time to know you, I think I'll take my chances with not becoming your friend. I'm very close with Damon and Caroline, you see. So much so, in fact, that I'm the godmother of their daughter. As you've made it quite clear that you've little to no respect for either of them, I've really no use for you.

What is "wrong" with me, Stefan, is that I happen to like Elijah. He is thoughtful and caring, and has done far more to try to help people in this city than you ever have. As has Damon, for that matter. Yet you judge them, constantly. Considering you've made it clear we aren't friends, and considering I agreed, but I do consider both Elijah and Damon friends, why would I not defend them against anyone who chooses to constantly vilify them?

Oh! As for my opinion, it comes from the fact that my god-daughter, your own niece, doesn't even know you. Yet you dare to insinuate that you actually care for your brother or his family. So in short? It is your behavior that's led me to feel the way I feel about you. From where I stand, those are really all the facts I need, considering actions speak much louder than words, as the saying goes.

I have not vilified my brother. Name one time that I have done that, and I don't want to hear about things I did before I arrived, or when I was here last. As far as I'm concerned, that wasn't me.

My niece does know me. You haven't been around all the time. I also am not taking chances when I just got clean. I think my brother appreciates that. If I had no respect for his family, that wouldn't matter as much.

Look, I know you're upset about Elena, but you can't just go off attacking people for expressing themselves. Especially people who are important to me.

I know that I don't really have any room to talk in this circumstance, what with having killed your best friend and all, but I would never go off on Lexi now, and there's a line that we have to respect with people who we're close to. Especially when they're just expressing an opinion that they have no reason to think is wrong.

I bit my tongue when you went off on Caroline because I figure it was just a matter of Elena leaving, the grief built up from that and that you would come to your senses and apologize eventually, but come on, Stefan. Randomly digging into Elijah and then going off on Molly when she tries to defend him from something that here he doesn't deserve? That's more than just grief manifesting itself as anger. That's lashing out without any consideration for the consequences, and I know how that goes, brother. It's not a road you want to stumble down even if it doesn't end in a binge and mass murder spree.

You're supposed to be the good brother, Stefan. You're supposed to know better.
