I can't be here right now. I need to go back. There are things happening back home. Important things. I need to be there, not here. I need to check on the others and I need to go back home to do that because that's the only way I can check on them since they aren't here. So I need to go back.

Oh! And there's zombies here now. There aren't supposed to be zombies. Or mummies, either. That's unnatural.

I got here a few days ago.

No. No, I wasn't supposed to do that. It is something I deeply regret.

Right. I know that now. I found your post. Oh. You met Claire. She's nice. You can't kill her. She has kids.

You shouldn't do things you regret. If you feel bad about doing things that means you shouldn't do them.

Whatever you may think of me, Gary, I would hardly harm someone simply for the sake of it. Claire seems like a kind young woman. What cause would I have to kill her?

Perhaps. But you do not always know what you'll regret until action has already been taken. Hindsight is always far clearer than our view in the moment.

I don't know. I'm not you. I don't kill people.

Yeah. Okay. Fine.

No, you don't. But you work with people who do. Surely you're aware that things are rarely black and white.

Okay. How are you?

Unlikely. The world's variable morality doesn't register with Gary. We'd probably be better off if more people were like that.

So. I heard you happened. Care to clarify whether there is an issue that needs to be settled here?

Call me old fashioned, but I was under the impression that introductions really ought to precede questions meant to carry an undertone of threat.

I don't hold so strictly to such rules. I prefer to threaten, then maim, then maybe introduce myself if I haven't immediately escalated to killing.

Be glad that you caught me after I've been here so long. I wouldn't have been kind enough to even give you a chance to explain before.

I suppose you could try that, but I do not imagine it would work too terribly well for you, not to mention that it would hardly get you the answers you seek.

Now, you could continue to be crass, or you could introduce yourself and we could have a polite discussion. It really is up to you.

Erik Lehnsherr. There. Happy?

Very.

Now, what precisely did you wish to know?

The end game, and whether we're going to need to be concerned about it playing itself out again.

They only kill people if they have to. You didn't have to kill Dani. It's not the same thing.

I'm angry. How are you?

I believed it necessary, just as your friends believe their actions are justified. There are always those who disagree. And, as I said, I realize I was wrong.

I am fascinated by this place, to be quite honest.

I like this place. Except for when it changes people or makes monsters real or makes it snow in July when it isn't supposed to snow in July because it's summer and it doesn't snow in the summer.

I can see how that would be unsettling for you. But I'm glad you're happy here.
