Well. While certainly interesting, this definitely isn't Peru.

Would someone mind explaining to me where it is that I am and how I came to be here? I suppose I could always peruse the entire message board but anything to inform me faster than the time it would take me to do that would be greatly appreciated.

You're in Colligo, and you came to be here because someone wanted you here. We're captives in a gilded cage. Settle in.

While that was certainly a succinct recitation of the basic facts, it really does very little to truly explain the situation.

There's not really much else to say. You're here until the person in charge decides to send you back home, and unless there happen to be other people here from your reality, you're here alone.

Settle in.

You do realize no matter how many times you type 'settle in', it isn't going to make me any more or less inclined to do so, don't you? It's completely against human nature to simply give in to the will of others, particularly in kidnapping situations.

And you do realize that if you try and fight back or find some way to leave, you'll only be wasting precious energy, yes? I am simply trying to give you the information necessary to not make such a wasteful choice.

Considering, if properly maintained, energy in a human is all but endless until the moment of death, I hardly consider any effort to be wasteful. And, as I said, it's simply against the nature of humans to simply accept their fate and be done with it.

Do what you will, then. And once you've exhausted all the options that you can come up with, there's a map and a residential listing on your PDA that will show you where you're staying. There's also a bank account set up in your name with a minimal amount of cash to help you until you find a job.

I've already discovered both the map as well as the listing of my assigned housing. Another post I was shown also covers the amount of cash I'm to receive as well as how to retrieve it. Thank you, though, just the same.

I see. Best of luck to you, then.

There's a comprehensive explanation here that is probably better than anyone could put together for you.

Thank you. The explanation you've offered does explain a great deal. It's very hard to believe, of course, but that's neither here nor there, I suppose.

It is rather hard to think there is any truth to it, but if you're around long enough, it becomes pretty clear that there is.

I suppose for now, I'll simply have to take your word for it.

Either way, your willingness to offer the information is appreciated.

It's the least I could do. It would be cruel to just leave you trying to figure out what's going on here on your own.

[info]gruesomegrissom
2012-04-23 04:37 am UTC (link)
I suppose, to some, it would. To others, it would likely be considered far more fitting than cruelty in any fashion. Either way, I'm grateful for the assistance.

Good for you, Canton.

No. No it's not Peru. Very good. Observant. I like that.

It's all very complicated. Time and realities and other bits and bobs. Basically you were kidnapped. Someone wrote up a thing. Very useful. Explains a lot. She's observant too. Good quality in a human.

Good quality in a human? As opposed to what, if I might ask?

Anything not a human. Obviously.

Like me for example. Rather human shaped...though, as a point of reference, you look like us and not the other way around...we definitely came first...but not human.

Right. Hello. I'm the Doctor.

Considering where I'm from, humanity is rather firmly at the top of its food chain, as well as the only species to achieve true understanding of consciousness to date, you'll pardon my ignorance in these matters.

So. Doctor. If you aren't human, what are you?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]amadmanwithabox
2012-04-23 05:03 am UTC (link)
Well, yes, you think you are, but you're probably not. Then again, you might be. Hard to say without knowing what your reality is like. But there are probably things out there and you just haven't found them yet. Humans are really quite good at not seeing what's in front of them.

I'm a Time Lord. Well, really that's a title. In terms of species, I'm Gallifreyan.

Wait. Time Lord? The Doctor?

Provided you're telling the truth, it would seem that information I was given is more accurate than I'd thought. Things considered fictional in my reality are quite real in others. Intriguing.

Oh good! You know about me. Well...unless you want to shoot at me. Then not so good. I really don't like people shooting at me.

Of course I'm telling the truth. That would be very easy to disprove if I wasn't, what with the two hearts and the other things and just...yes. Yes I am.

Shoot at you? No. I definitely don't want to shoot at you. I'm not overly fond of guns in the first place. They're much too messy and loud for my taste.

Gil Grissom. I think here is where I'm supposed to say it's nice to meet you, Doctor.

You'd be surprised at just how many people do. Or maybe you wouldn't be. And thank you! Guns are rubbish, aren't they. But try convincing my wife of that.

Do you suppose? Or is it actually? Or have you not decided yet? I'm reasonably sure it's nice to meet you, Gil, what with not wanting to shoot me and all.

Grissom, right? Gil Grissom?

If that is you, I'm Detective Mac Taylor. We spoke a few times, over the phone, about cases that crossed both our paths at various times.

If you'd like, there's a position for you at the crime lab in the city. Supervisory, much like your position in Las Vegas. To be frank, I could definitely use the help running this place. I have to sleep sometime, or so I'm told.

I suppose you could put it that way. He ran the crime lab in Las Vegas, night shift.

And I wouldn't say he's an Anderson, Sherlock. More like, well, you, for lack of a better comparison.

Nobody listens to their siblings, Mac.

I take it when it comes from other people I trust.

Sherlock

Alright. Fair enough.

Then take it from me. You and Gil Grissom are far more alike than you realize. Unless you don't trust me, of course. In which case, I can't help you.

If you do trust me, though, all I ask is that you give him a chance. Or not. It's your call. But keep in mind, Sherlock. Sooner or later, you're going to be cleared to come back as a consultant. Do you really want to risk being ousted from cases that come in during the night over something as petty as your pride?

Of course I trust you, Mac. You're probably one of the people here that aren't from my own reality that I actually do. And since I know you don't make threats statements like that lightly, I will do my best to deal with it.

As long as he stays out of my way, I will stay out of his.

So he's from where you're from then?

If he's anywhere near as good as you, he'll be a great addition to the crime lab.

The same reality, at any rate. He ran the Las Vegas crime lab night shift, for a while.

He's a good man. Very intelligent, extremely good at what he does, and a very good addition to the team.

That would be me.

It's nice to speak with you again, Detective, even if it's not voice to voice. I most certainly remember the cases, especially the one involving the girl who overdosed without a trace of drugs in her system. It was certainly... intriguing.

I'd like that position. It's been a while for me, but I suppose old habits die hard. Thank you.

Mr. Grissom, it's good to meet you.

I'm Nathan Wuornos, chief of police here in Colligo. I'm told you're extremely good at what you do.
