Lack of sleep had not been Issac’s real issue. Everyone had focused on such a small part of a bigger issue that when Issac did awake from his forced sleep, he pretended to the best of his ability to be more himself and less his trauma. While he had appreciated Maddy coming by to sit with him, he had decided to wander to the temples alone- much to the worry of others. When Issac wanted to he had a knack for slipping away. Stepping away from the bustling Cirque long before it would open for the night, Issac wandered through the temples they had situated beside. Each stone and tree that overtook parts of doorways hummed in his mind with a magical energy. Every room had its own song to sing to him to calm him and bring him back to normalcy. Of course, Issac’s normalcy had always been chaotic and being in the supernatural holy place did not change that. Humidity filled the air to drown the world and allow the plants to glow with life. Issac did not mind the swim. Hand over foot, fingers grasped to the dripping roots of a large Banyan tree taking the acrobatic lean body up the side of a building to sit just above an overgrown hall in the middle of a courtyard. Issac tapped his heels against the wood as he snuggled into the curve of the root and took a deep breath. “Good choice,” he whispered to himself. |
