Dobson House Warming Party!
Who: Everyone
Where: Dobson manor
When:Week 4, Saturday, evening
Why: Housewarming party at Dobson manor.
Warning: Social party and getting to know each other, but no other warnings yet.

Tabitha took a deep breath as looked at herself in the mirror. In only a few minutes, her first party here at Beacon hills would begin. She'd spent the better part of the week ensuring the whole manor be washed and decorated properly in reds and gold.

All sorts of foods prepared and laid out beautifully beside an open bar filled with various alcohol and even some blood bags for the visiting vampires. Tabtiha made sure there was no expense forgone, no extravagance missed. This was going to be a party that was not quickly forgotten, she wanted to be sure of it.

Smoothing her hands over her cream colored dress one more time nervously, she stepped out of her room and down the grand staircase to greet her guests.

Immediately rolling her eyes when she realized he was making fun of her, she smacked his bicep with a whine, "I hate you." Looking away when she noticed she was going to laugh at his ridiculousness. At first she was going to leave it at that but the truth was nagging at her.

Piper tried to muster up the courage to say it without rolling her eyes at herself and failed miserably, "It's not about your permission," her voice lowered when people started to come in behind them, "It's about if you want me to or not." The brunette shrugged at herself like it wasn't a big deal before she did something like blush and turned to walk towards their guest.

It was Emerson's turn to roll his eyes back at Piper as they waited to greet their hostess, as would be considered proper. Usually the witch wouldn't bother, but with Lucien at the event, he felt like he might have to do some premature sucking up to the hostess.

"Of course I want you to," he answered her, keeping his voice a little lower so as not to embarrass her. "Remember that time Gretchen tried to fucking put peas in the goddamn chicken alfredo? Trust me. You'll know if I don't want something."

Emerson was behind her and keeping his voice low, thank God. She hated how stupid she felt about the whole thing and how it was so much more than a few public kisses. Really, Bowes? You couldn't keep your lips to yourself for one night? Piper fought the urge to roll her eyes and shake her head again. It wasn't that he was saying anything wrong but it wasn't quite right either.

"I know you'll tell me, I just--...forget it," taking her arm from the crook of his elbow. How was she supposed to explain it to him if she didn't quite understand it herself? It was one thing for a slave to be doting on a master and another thing totally for a master to show affection to a slave.

"Piper," Emerson said her name simply, turning to face her as he tilted her chin up to look at him with his free hand. "Whatever it is that I'm not getting? Don't worry about it. Try to relax." He thought for a moment to kiss her, but he wasn't sure if that would make things better or worse.

"Dressed up for a housewarming party. Go figure." He grinned as one of the town witches did a double take walking past him. "I'm lucky I have you to make me look better. Otherwise this whole get-up would just be weird."

Piper gave him her full attention as he spoke and tried to do just that. She wasn't really mad at him anyway, more mad at herself and the insecurities playing on her emotions. It had been too damn long since she'd had to deal with any of this and she was definitely out of practice. "You're right," sighing and mustering up a smile. For a moment Emerson looked like he might kiss her and she sucked in a breath of anticipation but it didn't come. You were so damn close, dummy.

"Well, from the little I know of Tabitha, she seems the formal sort," and the brunette wouldn't admit that looking fancy in a place like this was something else. Shaking her head as they took a few steps in line, she said, "Shh, you look damn good and I don't want to hear otherwise."

"It's probably good that I didn't come dressed like a hobo from a steampunk novel then," he mused, drinking in the sight of the home as he entered. Fancy indeed. He didn't know an awful lot about Tabitha personally, so it was hard to have any kind of a first impression other than what he'd seen of her briefly the night of Roxy's ritual.

"Nah, I don't clean up half bad. I just usually don't like to look so good. Makes it unfair for the other men," the witch said with a crooked grin.

Piper swore he spoke just to hear his own voice sometimes and if it wasn't so ridiculous, she wouldn't mind one bit. He had a deep, gruff and gravely male voice that made her mind wander frequently but babbling was still babbling. She would know. "You know that wouldn't happen now that you're outnumbered by women."

Her first response was to stroke his ego and until she realized he'd had enough of that for one night. Hell, he didn't deserve it either with how insecure she still felt and decided to tease him instead, "I don't know. I'm seeing a few fine specimens so far," smiling up at him innocently, "and the night is still young."

"Don't even think about it," Emerson warned, pretending to be deeply struck by her words. He even sniffled a little bit. "I'm being selfish tonight and keeping you with me."

His demeanor shifted seemingly out of nowhere as he leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to the back of her hand. "That is, if that's alright with you, my lady." He teased asking her permission.

It was like she'd been walking away and he was tugging her back with his words and pouty demeanor. It was pretty cute and she couldn't help it, it'd been exactly what she needed to hear. Piper tried to press her lips together, holding back to giddy smile but she failed miserably.

The brush of his lips against her hand was so unexpected that she sucked in a deep breath an held it. Emerson was teasing her but in the best way possible. Not only was she respected but right now the brunette felt adored and worthy of it. She opened her mouth, still unable to get rid of the smile, to say, "Good. Answer." Grabbing the hand in hers that he so sweetly kissed, she used it wrap his arm back around her in a gesture of consent.

"Now, tell me what we might do at a housewarming party? Is there food?"

Emerson was inwardly rather pleased that he'd managed to convince Piper not to abandon him. He quite enjoyed her company, moreso than that of a lot of the socialites around the house who might've otherwise engaged him. Besides that, she looked amazing, and though the eye candy was certainly not her only attractive quality.

Turning back to the party, he shrugged. "Every one's different depending on who's throwing it, but there's almost always food," he assured her. "Booze too, if you wanna kick this party off right." He raised an eyebrow, laughing.

Feeling infinitely better and dismissing any lingering nagging in her mind, related or otherwise, Piper felt herself perk up and smile a bit brighter and more genuinely than before. There was no reason they couldn't have fun tonight. Chuckling with wariness, she said, "I wanna relax and remember it in the morning if you don't mind. Go wild, if you want though. You'd probably be a pretty fun drunk." Emerson usually said what he was thinking but everyone held stuff back and hearing that sounded like a helluva lot of fun.

"And about that gift basket. Do you just know everyone in this town is a sex addict or are you trying to tell them something?"

Emerson glanced around the house, taking in the decor and the sort of appetizers and drinks that were floating around. "Somehow, I'm not seeing this as a 'get hammered and make an idiot out of yourself' kind of party." Which was why dealing with Lucien when he no doubt did so was going to be all kinds of fun.

When she mentioned the gift basket, he had to grin proudly. "That, Piper, is the DeWitt Family Welcoming Basket that all new homeowners are treated to when they throw these kind of parties. It used to be something a little classier before I inherited the role of Head of the Household."

"No, but it does look like a fancy food and drinks kind of party which can really go either way. I'm trying to stay optimistic," chuckling and wondering how long they could actually amuse themselves here. It wasn't like she could mingle but maybe Emerson would introduce her to some people he knew who were slave friendly. And if that didn't work, there were always lots of fun things to do at home.

Piper slid him a look, "Okay. What did it used to contain?" She'd seen Gretchen humming and putting the pregnancy test and flavoured condoms inside. There were worse gifts to get.

"You'll lose that adorable sense of optimism after at least a few of these," Emerson assured her with a sigh and an eventual grin to follow. "Assuming you'll be up for accompanying me to more of these? Save me from all the socialites and the gossips?" he asked hopefully.

"As for the basket, well... Usually some super ancient wine, either spiced with some sort of enchantment or mingled with fae blood for the vampires. A few charms to bless the home with positive spirit energy or something. Fine cheese, silver platters..." Emerson waved a hand. "Boring, right? Mine's useful for if the housewarming party goes really well."
