Hello, my name is Louis. I'm not sure what I'm doing here or exactly how I got here. I was given a phone, computer, some money then dropped off here where I'm to live. This is strange. I would blame some I know, but for some reason I don't think they had anything to do with this.

You aren't the first Moroi vampire we've had around here but the concern is ingrained by this point and not going anywhere.

Quite the opposite. I would have tried to figure out how to arrange for a feeder if you couldn't stomach the bagged blood.

You are not being offensive. I am not trying to assign myself to you. But it's instinctive to make sure you're safe and have blood available. It looks like things are well in hand on both fronts.

I am not immortal. Dhampir have many of the strengths of the Moroi without the negative pieces (sensitivity to sunlight, we don't need to feed on blood, etc.) and I can be killed just as easily as any other human.

I do understand that instinct. We all have different kinds of instincts.

Interesting. Long ago I set out to find other vampires, but it wasn't the best experience. And they hid. They still did in the 1990's where I came from. Being open about it is strange. I wonder what changed, but perhaps it's just time and a different place. Though I'm not naive enough to think that there aren't those who still fear us.

I'm from the early 1990's. Where I'm from...varies. I traveled a good deal, but New Orleans will always home.

At least you're a little familiar with cell phones, but they've come a long way in 30+ years. I've visited New Orleans a couple of time for conferences. Gorgeous city. San Fran has its charms, too, but might be slightly less haunted.

Yes, a little, but they are so different now. I'm still amazed and the computer too. I'm a little lost, but trying. It is a beautiful city. I'm familiar with San Francisco a little, but will get to know it better now.

Why would I lie about something like that? It's more likely to cause everyone to fear me or want to put me away. Science can't explain everything.

Sometimes science and technology are indistinguishable from magic. And you could probably posit that vampirism, at its core, is basically a blood borne pathogen, even if it was ultimately derived from a "curse".

I can't tell you it's origins, my maker never told me. But yes at a basic level it could be seen as a blood borne pathogen when one doesn't know the ins and outs of it.
