How do you tell your kid brother that he doesn't make it too far past his next birthday? That mistakes were made. The mission went bad. We lost arguably the most worthwhile member of our family.

Then he becomes a ghost that you actively don't tell your siblings about for the next... 13 years because it's not like they take you seriously anyway and he just basically watches you fuck everything up over and over and over again until he once again saves the day and finally crosses over?

Carefully. Probably all at once, like ripping off a band-aid. But what do I know about kids and teenagers? They ain't exactly my forte. I tend to screw up more than I help.

I think so long as we're reasonably quiet, it should be okay. Maybe if I get the turkey drunk enough, it'll shut up or, if not, just read the room and shut up anyway.

	It's understandable, I'm guessing he's fairly young? Is there a chance someone else here could spoil things for him? If it were my brother, I don't think I would tell him. That's a lot to put on a child, but perhaps if he had a chance to grow older, then there may be a better time if there truly is such a thing. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Ah, yes. That I understand all too well. Perhaps there's a way to ease into it, enough that it gives him a choice on whether or not he wants to know. 	Sadly, I don't think there will ever be an easy answer. He's still young, and even this is still a lot to put on him, but it might be one of the better options? Sounds like something you don't talk about yet. It's not the healthiest way to cope, but sometimes it's just easier not to talk about certain things?

...I don't know. Actually, I am the worst person to be offering advice on talking about things like this. I'm more of the 'Hey, lets go play mini golf and video games and eat pizza and what were we talking about again? That movie from last week? Oh, have you heard of this new song?' kind of person.

Also, disappearing into the unknown can be an option. Maybe. Probably not.
