Summary: Remus is antsy before the transformation.
Remus had been dreading this night for two weeks. The first full moon since his childhood nightmare had been spit out by whatever magic was bringing them all back from the dead and forgotten past. He'd spent the last day or two in a state of restless anticipation, wondering if something would happen, fearing what it would be, worrying over having all the werewolves in the Forest for the night.
That he would be experiencing the transformation at Hogwarts again at all was simply surreal. A part of him had wanted to see if Pads and Prongs wanted to patrol the Forest border with him, a pseudo-run like old times. Or, maybe Peter, who was already there. He trusted Patrick's potions and the werewolves he knew at the clinic. But, Remus wouldn't stop worrying until morning. He was too wound up over this month's change.
When he found time at lunch to sit with quill and parchment, he had begun what he thought would be the letter he gave Regulus the next Sunday. Yet, as the day wore on and moonrise drew nearer, he changed his mind.
Remus never kept his regular office hours the nights of the Full. He preferred to spend that time away, often with Regulus as he still continued to leave his pendant and Order bracelet with his lover rather than trust them to the clinic's storage during the night. That was one thing that would be easier this way. He could leave it all - jewellery, wand -- with Regulus in their quarters, needing only to banish his robes back there before the change.
As he prepared to make his way up to the Forest, Remus left one item with Dolan, however, not Regulus. Giving Dolan the letter he'd written at lunch, he asked the house elf not to give it to Regulus until moonrise. Then he left to join the others, hoping this would be enough to keep them all safe for this moon.
