Who: Rosalie, Shiloh, and Aaron
What: Looking for the absentee resident of 1007
Where: 1st floor
When: After this and this.
Warnings: None, as of yet.

Knowing that she had upset Daniel too much to have an effective talk with him anymore, Rosalie followed Jude’s directions and left the roof to find Singer, taking with her the bag with the alcohol. She was positive that she hadn’t gotten everything, but since she was also planning a return trip- with reinforcements- then whatever bottles were still lying around would have to wait.

By the time she reached her apartment, Rosalie’s plan of action was to get Singer and return immediately to the roof, where Daniel would hopefully be sleeping. They could finish cleaning the place up so that by the time he woke up, there would be nothing he could do but deal with it. She realized that unfortunately, Jude did have a point: Daniel wasn’t going to recover unless he wanted to. Which, at the moment, seemed unlikely. But hopefully Singer could help with that problem, and either way, Rosalie wasn’t about to let him just drink himself away while he was supposed to be recovering.

Depositing the trash bag in her room, to be dealt with later, she quickly made her way up to the tenth floor, where she was surprised to find Singer’s door completely open and no one inside the apartment. The hallway was deserted as well, and Rosalie couldn’t stop her rising sense of foreboding. Empty. And then she thought of Daniel’s wounds and wondered if maybe whoever had caused them had come back for Singer too.

Frantically, she thought to who Singer knew and her panicked thoughts settled on Shane and 601. Shutting the door to 1007, she rushed to the stairs, where she was immediately confronted with a knife. Why was there a knife? Turning away blindly, she hopped into the elevator without thinking, and by the time she realized how stupid that was, it had deposited her on the first floor and refused to budge.

"She fell?" The worry returned, and the confusion, and they were so mixed up this time that it was difficult for Rosalie to separate her next thoughts as she tried to speak them all at once. "Where did she fall? How? Is she alright? Where is she now?" She ignored the part about the names like she ignored Trenton's insinuation that Shiloh was a prostitute: acknowledging the information and then setting it aside until she knew exactly what to make of it. "I've been to R1," she started to confirm, and then realized that Daniel might not want anyone to know. "I mean-" She paused. "How did you know?"

"She got up again and ran up the stairs, but I couldn't--I don't know what happened after that." He licked his lips. "She was afraid of something... felt bad about something... worried... panic." Shaking out of it again, Aaron blinked at Rosalie sleepily.

"R1? It's all over you. It gets all over everything when you're that depressed. I don't know how anyone can be up there." Quiet shudder. He was sitting up now, at least, relatively alert, and working the tension out of his shoulders. Rosalie reacted to her environment like a well-adjusted person, and Aaron could handle worry and confusion on that level. He frowned a little at her, shifting out of his cocoon and rising. Standing upright on the worn tennis shoes, he touched the air between them with careful fingers, tipping his head sideways. It was hard to get anything off of anyone that had been in or near R1. Suicidal depression was kind of like vinegar, soaking into everything, but he got a little nearer to feel out all the emotion leftover from everything she touched. Puzzled, he asked, "Why was he afraid of you?"

"Ran...up the stairs? But she wasn't hurt? What floor did she start from?" Rosalie tried to make some sense of the scene in her head as Aaron said something about Singer being afraid.

"All over me?" Rosalie asked curiously, actually looking down at her jeans and brushing at them, like something tangible might be left over. "Depressed? Is it really that bad?" Of course it was, she knew, judging by the sheer number of bottles currently in her apartment. Worry about Daniel's alcoholism surfaced again, although she said nothing.

She held still as Aaron reached out. "He was afraid of me?" She thought back to earlier. "I think...he was afraid of me being there. He kept asking what I wanted," she continued slowly, then looked back at Aaron. "Do you know him?"

Aaron just shook his head to all these questions. He didn't have any idea what floor he'd been on, or whether or not she was really injured, or where she went, or why. The impact had been too strong for him to really try to process anything after he landed on his ass against a wall.

He quirked an eyebrow at her, confused. "He's suicidal. Didn't he just try to kill himself up there?" Aaron had been certain Jude's 'fracas' had been something of that nature, broken door or no. He'd put off talking to Vaughn about it, because he knew she'd be upset. "Don't move for a sec." He reached out carefully and brushed her jacket sleeve, a light, almost imperceptible touch, and then pulled back. "Yeah, afraid of something. Dunno what, though. He really hurt himself, huh?" Pain, quite more than being a physical sensation, was an emotion. A very draining emotion, but an emotion, nonetheless.

Rosalie sighed a little, seeing that Aaron didn't know anything more about Singer's hit-and-run. At least she could walk and didn't sound like she had been stabbed.

"Suicidal?" she echoed. C'etait pas bon. "I don't- I think it was someone else." Rosalie was almost positive that he had not inflicted the wound on himself. Pretty sure at least. She froze when Aaron told her to, gazing at him in total confusion to what he was doing and where he was getting all of this. "Are you getting this...from my clothes?" she had to ask.

"Yeah," she answered his last question softly, and a hint of sadness crept up through the worry. "I don't know him really, but I just," sighing and looking at Aaron sincerely, "want to help."

Definitely not stabbed, though Aaron didn't clarify. Actual contact with Singer/Wednesday's blood would have been countless times worse than just a passing skin-to-skin contact. He pulled his hands back and put them in his pockets, slumping down on the edge of the couch glumly. "Yeah, I can tell. That's what I can do, pick up all the feelings. Off people, things..." A vague nod to her that must indicate her clothing. "Sinks into stuff, too. That's why sometimes when you're around somebody like R1, you feel pretty down afterwards. It's catching, in a way." He squinted a little at her. "You want a soda or something?" Sugar always made him feel better when he was down.

Wait, what? Rosalie didn't know whether to believe him or not. Although it almost made sense, if she figured in the new information about the boy in front of her, with how Aaron had been acting since she had come by. She smiled at Aaron wearily, suddenly tired. "A soda would be great, thanks." Caffeine.

Shiloh had come back through the door, knife in hand, just in time to catch Aaron's explanation.

"You can't just tell people that, Aaron," he said, not concentrating on Rosalie at all, the worry coming off of him in thick waves.

Aaron had walked away, into the kitchen, and took out two generic brand--not the name--caffeinated drinks and put one on the counter for her, and took one for himself. He didn't hold it out for her, he just put it there and backed off a couple steps so she could reach it. Looking past her, he blinked at Shiloh, and shrugged. "Why not? It's true."

Rosalie had had too long of a day for this. She opened her soda and took a sip, not really caring if Aaron could sense things from people or not. Just another weird thing to add to the list here.

"Was there anything else strange up there?" She directed her question at Shiloh, nodding at the knife he had recovered.

Shiloh was still looking at Aaron. "People will take advantage of you, Aaron," he insisted. "This is serious. How many people have you told this to?" he demanded. His worry was rolling into unfamiliar panic, and the knife in his hand was the least of his concerns. He put it on the counter and pushed it toward Rosalie. "I didn't find anything other than the knife. No sign of anyone around."

Aaron shrugged, and looked evasive. "Nobody bad," he insisted. "I can tell things like that. Like her." He pointed, abruptly, at Rosalie. "See. She just wants to help, and--" he cut himself off as the knife clattered to the counter. Aaron backed away to the other end of the kitchen.

Hesitantly, Rosalie picked up the knife and turned it over, examining it for- she didn't really know what. It was clean, which lessened some of the anxiety about Singer/Wednesday that was still coursing through her. She looked at Aaron with some concern as he skittered across the room, but addressed Shiloh, trying to understand why he was getting upset. "Why does it matter if he tells? It's..." she tried to think of the least offensive word, "unusual, but no one's going to call out a witch hunt about it."

"It matters because the people in this building aren't all God fearing. Imagine if that man who died had learned of what Aaron could do. You do not think he would have used it to find out what the one named Vlad was thinking? You might be able to trust the ones you tell, Aaron, but you do not know if the ones they tell are equally trustworthy." Shiloh cautioned, watching Aaron move away from the knife, then watching Rosalie touch it. "What do you feel from it?"

It seemed very unlikely Aaron was going to share Shiloh's caution about God fearing men, judging by his expression, but, as usual, there wasn't much time for the conversation. "It's all twisted up. Bad." Aaron would not get any closer, just shook his head several times and said again, "Bad."

Biting her lip, Rosalie glanced down at the knife which, although sharp, was not very large or even threatening looking. "From the person who was using it? Or trying to use it," she amended. Unconsciously, she slid the sleeve of her jacket between the knife and her hand, like the feelings from the weapon might be contagious. Which to Aaron, she supposed, they apparently were.

"Can you tell if it was a man or a woman?" Shiloh asked, even though he wanted nothing to do with people who wielded knives.

He wanted Aaron around them even less.

"We should move."

"I don't know," he said to Rosalie--and then to Shiloh, the same: "I don't know. People don't leave labels on how they feel, and women can be angry same as men." He shrugged slightly to Rosalie, as if this warranted an apology.

His scowled at Shiloh. "No. I like it here."

"It's New York," Rosalie said to Shiloh, as a bit of an explanation. "Stranger things happen every day, and there are more dangerous places to be." There was some puzzlement in her voice as she continued, like she hadn't expected him to be too concerned about the hazards of the building. "You don't have the safest of...um. Occupations. You know?" She didn't look at Aaron and some pink crept into her cheeks.

"You should be," Aaron snapped, already raw and irritable, and in no mood to be lorded over. "Just because you don't care about yourself doesn't mean nobody else does." He snatched up his pop can and stalked out toward the door, past Rosalie. "Do you want help finding Wednesday?" he demanded.

Rosalie's gaze flickered between Shiloh to Aaron, uncertain at the sudden tension between them, and she slowly nodded. "Yes please." Turning her head to Shiloh, "If it's alright?" It was getting to be late, although she assumed Aaron was on break for the holidays.

"You are different than I am," Shiloh replied to Aaron. "Your life is supposed to be better." He looked at Rosalie and nodded for her to follow Aaron. "He can help you find the girl, but make sure he stays safe," he cautioned. "Don't let anyone touch him."

"What do you know about it?" Aaron growled, whirling on Shiloh as if poor Rosalie wasn't present. "You're not the boss of me. You don't even know me!" And he stalked straight out the door without waiting for her.

Rosalie had opened her mouth to promise that Aaron would be fine, but been cut off by the outburst. She hovered a second, took a hesitant step towards Shiloh, and then froze, glancing at the door and realizing that Aaron shouldn't be out alone after the events of the day.
