Entry tags:big bad wolf, willful child

Who: Shane, Shiloh and Aaron
What: Shane has a delightful hole in his stomach in need of stitching.
Where: 104
When: Immediately following this.
Warnings: Gore, mentions of wound stitching, and swearing likely.

All Shane wanted just now was to go to sleep. His vision was black around the edges and his head was light. It would be very easy just to lay back on the bed and pass out. Hell, it would be easy to pass out right now, and just let his body fall where it liked.

He focused on the pain throbbing in his side to keep himself awake and alert. Even exhausted as he was, he knew he couldn't afford to fall asleep, not when there was enough blood on his shirt to make not waking up a distinct possibility.

He kept one hand, still tipped with claws, wrapped around his stomach, covering the wound as he dully watched Shiloh fetch supplies to stitch him up with. God, he'd been stupid. This was it, for a while. He couldn't be hunting anyone down if it was going to endanger other people and nearly get him killed. This couldn't happen again, wouldn't happen again, and he wasn't going to continue his work until he was sure it wouldn't.

Shiloh's eyes cleared a moment later, and he didn't remember anything he'd said. It was as if Shane had been asking him about the wounds still, which Shiloh did not want to answer. "They're private," he said truthfully, thread tugging through skin as he continued to stitch.

Shane's curiosity about the wounds was far behind him, now. "Do you even know what you just said?" he asked, his incredulity strong enough to distract him from the stitching for the moment. Shiloh was acting as if nothing had happened between Shane's question and his answer. Had he gone into a trance? Whatever it was, in this building, he wasn't willing to discount anything that seemed strange or off.

Shiloh looked honestly confused. Maybe Shane had hit his head, as well as been stabbed. "I said the marks were private, and didn't want to talk about them." Maybe he'd lost too much blood. He tied off the neat line of thread, and he pressed his thumb to Shane's lower hip, so he could see the soft inside. Not as pink as it should be, no, but not at the point of hallucination. His thumb dragged over Shane's chin as he moved back.

"But...nevermind." Maybe he was hallucinating. Or, more colorfully, maybe he was going insane. Either way, it seemed like Shiloh had no idea what he was talking about.

At least the stitching was done. The pain from the wound had leveled off without really getting better, but now it was consistent. Again, Shane didn't object to being touched, mostly out of sheer confusion. He let out a shaky breath. He really wasn't sure how much longer he could stay upright, let alone stay awake. Whatever Shiloh had said was a problem he could face when he didn't have more pressing worries.

Shiloh moved without asking, and he slipped Shane's sleeves off, leaving him bared from the chest up. His touch was firm, yet more delicate than a man's, and he pressed him back to the bed with hands that seemed familiar with the act. Another drizzle of peroxide, and Shiloh tipped his head to the side as he watched carefully. "Your name?"

He didn't protest. The bed seemed like the most comfortable he'd ever laid on right about now. He fought the urge to slip from consciousness as soon as his head hit the pillow, the sting from the peroxide helping to keep him present. "Shane," he said. "Shane C--" He stopped. He was definitely, absolutely distracted, to the point where it might be dangerous. He was going to have to be more careful with what he said. "Marion. Shane Marion." His voice was thin with exhaustion. The sharp teeth were gone, disappeared sometime during the stitching. "Yours?"

Shiloh could tell his grip on lucidity was a thin and shallow thing, and he ran soothing fingers over his brow. "Shi. Sleep, now. You're safe here." He could tell, of course, that Shane'd been about to give another surname, but he let it lie. If he wanted to tell him, he'd have plenty of time to do so in the coming days.

The simplicity of that command finally got to him. He was stitched up and somewhere that at least appeared to be safe. Trying to put off sleep now wouldn't do him any good.

He passed out almost as soon as he shut his eyes, laying utterly still. A few moments after, the claws finally receded, and he curled on his side in his sleep, dreaming of nothing.
