Who: OPEN to anyone that wants to spill into the Lobby after they completed their group hell.
What: Probably a lot of wigging out.
Where: The Lobby.
When: After Group C's exit--they were pretty early on, so chances are it was before yours.
Warnings: We'll say language, since people are unhappy.
Notes: 1) The doors to the Group Hells turn back into the doorway down into the basement after people are through. 2) You can't see where they've been. 3) There's no posting order. Just reply to the main post with a new thread if there are specific participants you want to reply to--make sure you note who they are and what the char is reacting to, or leave it open, up to you. I don't have specific directions, my brain is not wired for public planning right now.

Iris looked about as good as she felt. The gray-toned sleep clothes she was wearing didn't do anything to help the ghastly color of her normally bright features, and her eyes were burnt red by stress and tears. As soon as her bare feet sensed wood flooring instead of the cold concrete of the horrible room with the lights, she took her hand from Peter's arm and stood up herself. She wasn't much paying attention to where she was going, and she kept tensing up under hard waves of wracking shudders that went up her spine.

She was trying not to think about what might have happened when she pointed that gun at Peter, but she was too used to sudden attacks of panic and now she was having a hard time breaking that loop of continuous explosive fear. Mostly blind to her surroundings, she didn't look back for John and Cole, she just went forward toward the stair and vague perceptions of safety.

Micah nodded to John. "We've met," he said, assuming whatever they had to do had been very different than summoning some ugly, winged octopus. "It was sadistic, but not like yours, I don't think," he said in reply to Peter, and he was just about to elaborate when Iris recoiled and then dropped to her knees.

He crouched in front of her in a second, and he looked up at the other two men, even as he reached for her wrist and took her pulse, his other hand coming up to cup her cheek. "What the fuck happened?" he demanded of them, his expression worried and hard.

John scrubbed his hand over his face. "Sadistic doesn't even start to cover it," he grumbled, kneeling beside Iris on the other side. "It was." He swallowed hard and shook his head. "We had to trust people. And then shoot at them." He looked at Peter, his eyes silently asking the other man not to disclose anything in great detail. "It was God-awful."

He hadn't wanted to take his eyes off of Iris until he was sure she was safe, so maybe it was the intense scrutiny he viewed the situation with, but he felt almost like he saw Iris fainting a split second before she actually did. When Iris went limp and he immediately stabled himself to catch her in his arms. O

nce he was sure he had her securely he slowly knelt down toward the floor taking her with him, luckily in time for Micah to come over and start checking her pulse. It was clear that he knew what he was doing and so Pete felt free to just take a deep breath and attempt to stay calm even if every instinct in his body just wanted to run and not look back.

He shook his head when Micah swore at him, "She wasn't physically hurt," he assured Micah calmly, "It's gotta be exhaustion and panic," he answered softly feeling wholly responsible even though it was hardly his fault. "She had to shoot at me, it wasn't a good situation." He said doing his best to stay calm. That was what Pete did after all, he stayed calm, even though all he really wanted to do was find a quiet place so he could scream.

Micah listened, even as he relaxed when he found Iris' pulse, which was steady, if a little fast. He looked up, first at John and then at Peter. "She had to shoot a gun, and she was stuck locked in a room with the two of you?" he said the last part like being stuck with them was a very bad thing indeed, which it was in Micah's opinion. It wasn't anything personal - on the contrary. He knew John could handle himself, and he knew Iris trusted Peter. Still, that situation must have been a nightmare for her.

"We're taking her upstairs. Can you carry her two flights?" he asked Peter, barely refraining from picking her up in his arms herself and telling them all to get lost.

John rolled his eyes. Yeah, they had been stuck in a room together. Yeah, it had been hellish. But it wasn't as though either he or Peter was the goddamn devil. Micah acted like he was the hottest shit in town, and John was pretty damn sure that it would bite the kid in the ass one day. Crap like that always did. "At least be thankful she was with someone who knew how to shoot," John said. "Otherwise, she probably would've shot a bullet into Peter instead of over his shoulder."

Rocking back on his feet, he stood. "I've got a kid to get back to. Let me know how she does." The last was directed at Peter more than Micah, because John was pretty sure Micah didn't give a damn if John knew how the poor girl was. "See you." And then he was off, reaching his room in record time.

Peter nodded at Micah, "Yeah," he answered, "I'm not as wiry as I look," he said with a good natured tone. It was clear John was on the defensive, but Peter didn't feel like he had much time for that right then.

He stood and lifted Iris with him, and looked in the direction of John as he left and gave him a nod, "Take care, John." He said before he waited for Micah and followed him.

Micah didn't have the slightest idea what had gotten into John. He'd worked beside the man in a life-or-death situation with copious amounts of blood and shocked victims, and he'd never suspected him of being the sort to take offense so easily. The thought, however, was gone as quickly as it came, and he focused back on Iris and the man who held her.

He clapped Peter's shoulder, and he motioned to the elevator, which was currently unoccupied. "I'm just a floor up," he said, and he looked down at Iris' pale, unconscious face with worry. "How'd she handle it?" he asked, assuming this man knew where her fears stemmed from.

Peter was half terrified to get into the elevator because this would be just the moment it would choose to act up, but he followed anyway.

At his question he sighed heavily and looked away for a moment, it was a loaded question. "She was doing okay considering the shock of it all, but that was only until the guns came out and we figured out what we'd have to do to get out. Then things went south from there, she was a trooper though." He said searching his head for any other option that could have worked to get out of that room, and coming up empty. So much for hindsight being 20/20. "I take it you didn't have to shoot at anyone?" he asked curiously.

Micah touched his fingers to Iris' hair, and then he pushed the elevator button. "No. We had to read shit from a book," he said, while some thing looked at us from an aquarium." He sounded like he hated the damn building, and in that moment he did. Why did it stick Iris in something like that, while putting him in something ridiculously easy to handle. "If this building was a person..." he started, jaw clenching and voice trailing off.

He forced himself to breathe deeply as the doors to the elevator opened, and he motioned to his apartment and then opened the door, so Peter could get her inside. "Bed's to the right," he said. "Thanks for taking care of her," he added, even though Iris wasn't his. He felt protective of her, and he was glad she'd had someone she'd trusted with her at least.

"I think she'd like it if you stuck around until she woke up," he said honestly. "I'll get something to jolt her out of it."

The jolt was not necessary; Iris was stirring once they were inside her apartment, and she had her eyes open, though not focused, before Peter got her through the living room. She recognized the voices, not the shapes, and she was disoriented enough, tired enough, to take them at immediate value. "Peter?" Fighting her way through dark cotton, she focused on him. "Micah's here? I'm asleep?" It wasn't a sleepy, uncertain series of questions: it was a search for order and information, despite her state. Both of them she equated with dreams, her dreams, and just then (without short-term memories available) she could think of no reason they would be in the same place with her unless she was dreaming. She knew it was Micah's apartment, she could smell it, and she didn't think to panic.

Pete followed where Micah told him to go and gave him a nod when he said he should stick around. "It was no trouble," he responded about looking after Iris, "Thats what friends are for right?" he said easily.

He was just setting Iris down when she started talking, "Iris, it's me," he said when he heard his name. "It's alright," once again he was hoping to reassure her. "Micah's here, everything is fine," he said calmly. "You're not asleep."

She thought she was asleep?

That solidified one thing for Micah - the dreams he'd been having that he was certain were about her, the ones he could never remember, they were real. Not only that, but she remembered them.

He turned back from where he'd gone looking for his medicine bag, and he lingered in the door of the bedroom, where Peter had laid her down on the bed. "Your friend John hates me," he told her, intentionally keeping it light. "Pete here thinks I'm okay, though," he said. "I was worried fucking sick about you," he added, the truth evident in the words. He had been. "I haven't found Eliot yet."

"Oh." She sounded almost disappointed, and curled up a little on the coverlet. "I don't know why John would hate you," she said, calling up the image of John and, as she did so, the events previous. She brought her knees up a little closer, but she didn't start shaking or crying again. "I am just tired. I don't like guns." She said the last while turning her eyes nearer to Peter, and offering a very weak smile for a very bad attempt at humor as she stated the obvious.

To Micah (far away, in the doorway, she had to look over the bottom of her eyelids and open her eyes a little wider than they wanted to go) she said, "Eliot will survive. You did, right? You didn't get shot." She was prepared to be informed that he was the one that did the shooting, actually.

Peter nodded easily when Micah said he thought he was okay, "That's the thing with Bellum, always making new friends," he said chuckling.

Peter watched her carefully and grinned right back at her, "Really? You could have fooled me, sharp shooter," he said glad to see at least an attempt at humor. Personally he wanted to hear more about the aquarium Micah had talked about because that sounded worlds more interesting than the shooting contest.

"We didn't have guns," Micah said from the door. "We had to read from a book - the necronomicon, or something asi," he said, sounding completely unimpressed by the entire process. "And some ugly, tentacle faced octopus with wings swam by. No guns," he said, not explaining what was in the book that needed to be read. "I did punch someone though, if that helps," he said, smiling at her attempts at strength. "I'm sure the bastard is fine," he agreed, not wanting her to worry about Eliot.

It took her a second to comprehend that. "You read from the Necronomicon?" she asked, surprised enough to uncoil from the protective shield of several pillows, even if she couldn't quite sit up. Then, a second later, "So we don't know what the others are doing." She didn't know what the building might force Eliot to reveal, or do, but he suspected that whatever it was, he probably didn't like it very much. It wasn't in his nature to be a team player.

Frown. "Oh, Micah." Sigh. She let her head fall back and closed her eyes again. They didn't seem to want to open, but she was still awake. "Who did you punch?"

When Micah said that he had spent the evening reading from the Necronomicon he raised his eyebrows in a cross between shock and being more impressed, he wasn't sure how he felt about that at all. He settled on jealous. Definitely more jealous than he'd been in a while, and the way his life was going that was saying something. "Dude," he said shaking his head. "That's insane."

He wasn't quite sure what he ought to be doing now, he felt like the two of them were on the verge of a personal 'who did you punch?' conversation and he didn't want to intrude. He also didn't want to leave and feel like he was bailing on his friend either. "Do you want anything, Iris? Water or a cup of tea?" As far as Pete's Mother was concerned the best cure for a bad day was a cup of tea. Every now and then he found it worked pretty well himself.

"My place; I'll do the honors," he told them, motioning for Peter to stay where he was. "And I don't get the appeal about that book or the ugly thing in the water," he said. He'd turned for the kitchen, but Iris' question about the punch surfaced, and he stopped. "Someone named Will - he was dating Ella, I guess, and set it up so she'd catch him in bed with someone else. And he called me a pussy. He deserved it," he said with certainty. "Tell her she's staying here tonight," he told Peter, as if Peter could make Iris agree in a way he couldn't, before disappearing into the kitchen, the sound of the cafetera clanking open audible all the way in the bedroom.

Pete nodded at Micah and thanked him before he looked back at Iris with his eyebrows raised, "I've got my orders, Iris. I think you'd better stay," and he supposed it was just good luck that she didn't seem too eager to argue and was asleep before he even had to think of a retort.

He watched her carefully for a moment making sure she was actually asleep and he turned toward Micah and moved in his direction, "Thing in the water? Giant squidy thing?" he asked unable to really stop himself or his geeky curiosity. Seriously, if there was a group summoning Cthulu he was going to wonder how he rated getting shot at.

Micah, who was standing in front of the stove over the coffee maker, mimicked Stefan's squiddy fingers at his chin. He laughed at the memory, and he motioned for Peter to sit down on one of the barstools. "She fall asleep?" he asked, nodding toward the bedroom.

Pete shook his head and clearly looked disappointed that he'd missed that, "You hang out with Cthulu, I talk my friend into shooting at me. I can only imagine what everyone else had to do."

He took a seat at the barstool and tried not to think about the fact that he was sitting in the apartment of someone he'd just met in his mario pajama pants. Not ideal, but he supposed he hadn't been hit with a bullet so the night was a win. "Yeah, I think she was fighting a losing battle with the sleep already." He held his hand out toward Micah realizing they hadn't met properly at all, "I'm Peter Kelly by the way, I live on eleven."

Micah shook the other man's hand. "Micah," he said, adding the "Braden" after a moment's hesitation. "How did she do? Tell me the truth," he said, and the worry was still there and evident. He didn't bother hiding it; there wasn't any point. "She's mentioned you, that you helped her before," he said. "She doesn't trust many people," he added, realizing he was sounding like Iris was his more and more every day, which she wasn't.

"How about you tell me what's so wonderful about the damn sea creature too," he suggested, pouring them both cups of coffee and sliding one over to Peter.

Peter sighed a bit and tried to think about how to answer the question, all in all it had been a bad situation, and it was clear it had taken it's toll on Iris, but all things considered they had gotten out without any blood being shed. "Honestly, things fell apart there at the end, but she was a champ when we first got there. I think it could have gone worse if she'd been in there with just a bunch of strangers," he said hoping that he didn't sound like he was tooting his own horn. He was just glad he was able to be there for her at all. "And considering how bad it was, she still managed not to hit me with the bullet and was a big part of us getting out of there."

He liked that Micah seemed to know about the whole dream walking escapade and it made it much easier not to dance around how they knew each other. "I don't know how much of that I was responsible for, I just am glad she thinks so," he answered honestly. It was always nice to know that you were able to help someone.

He took the cup of coffee happily and took a sip thanking Micah for it. He chuckled a bit at the question about the sea creature, "Lovecraft was the first real author I picked up that wasn't a school assignment, Cthulu was pretty much the most horrifying thing I could imagine as a kid."

"Lovecraft," Micah repeated, making a mental note to read up on the ugly green thing. He was fairly sure it couldn't actually exist; the dimensions of tentacles versus wings would make the creature immobile at best, but he didn't logic that outloud. Peter (like Stefan) seemed to like the ugly thing, even while he feared it, and Micah didn't want to crush his dreams.

"What's your story?" he asked, not meaning Peter's tale. He knew the name, and he'd heard the rumors (it was impossible not to in this building). It occurred to him, as if for the first time, that maybe he and Iris had more than a friendship. He considered being outraged on Eliot's behalf (Not on his own, of course), but he hadn't seen the other man much lately, and it faded as quickly as it came.

Peter smiled and shrugged a little, "I'm afraid it's not that interesting, I grew up in Texas and went to college there too, I moved to New York to go to law school where I met my wife, got married, finished school, passed the bar, got a job, and then about a year ago I met Vlad who hired me and we moved here and," he chuckled a bit, "that turned out to be a terrible idea because since then my wife has left me for my boss and now I'm unemployed and wifeless," he took another drink of his coffee and shook his head.

"That sounds more pathetic than I meant it to, I think in spite of all that stuff at the end there I do alright, I'm job hunting and my wife's friend left her dog with me when she moved out so I've been keeping busy." He blinked, "And it just gets more and more pathetic the longer I talk. I should just stop. What about your story, Micah? Hopefully it's not a bad country song just waiting for Kenny Rogers to come along and discover it." he said chuckling, though it occurred to him that he would feel pretty terrible if it actually was.

He was still unable to really take himself too seriously about what had happened, because if that wasn't the makings of a perfect country song he didn't know what was. It was just a good thing Lena hadn't taken Kiki's dog or else he'd be jobless, wifeless and dogless.
