Nick hadn't really known what to tell Boyd. He had never been given much a chance to offer anyone real comfort, even Evie had rarely needed any comforting. Venturing out the door and down the stairs seemed like a feat on a good day, but talking with Boyd had picked at the corner of his brain he didn't like being awoken.

He took his Seroquel like clockwork before poking his head in to see Evie. She had her headphones on, so he didn't bother her. He'd just leave a note that he stuck on the fridge and grabbed his sketchbooks from the hospital. If they were going to talk, it was best he brought what really said all he could about the hospital.

He took the stairs to the tenth floor and looked for 1007. Fidgeting with the hem of his shirt for a moment, Nick took deep, calming breaths before he was able to knock on Boyd's door.

Nick looked better than she'd thought he would, since she knew how hard it was for her to cope after she was released from the institution, and he'd been there much longer. Gabriel thrived on the attention, eager to make the boy scratching him behind the ears a new friend. She caught Boyd's head shake with a slight blush, since the look had been curious - but not like that.

"Of course it's okay, like Boyd said." Hannah didn't mind unexpected visits from people she wanted to see. "It's good to see you too."

The hug caught her off guard, but she returned it just as warmly. "I'm glad you came by," she said quietly. She could use the distraction, after all. "Can I get you guys anything? I'm kind of low on groceries, but I think I'm still on the manageable side so far."

Nick laughed a little at the puppy before he awkwardly looked up. He dropped his hands and stood up, taking a tentative step forward and reached up to hug Hannah too when Boyd broke off. "It's cool you knew Boyd, cause I kinda knew you two would get along if you didn't already."

He backed off out of the hug pretty quickly, still unused to being physical with people. Maybe he was getting better at it? He could tell that to his therapist too. Shaking his head a little, "I'm fine thank you, Hannah."

Boyd found Nick's awkwardness completely endearing, and she went and sat on Hannah's couch, curling up comfortably and watching her friends. "Nick was telling me about the hospital you two were in," she explained. Even as she spoke, she thought about Evie's protective streak; she understood it better now. "I want you two to promise me you'll steer clear of Vaughn if she tries and talks to either of you. Promise a girl, or I'll fret."

Hannah knew that Nick and physical affection weren't quite comfortable with each other just yet, but the tentative hug still made her smile. "You have a knack for knowing that kind of thing, I think." She couldn't have imagined Nick and Boyd not getting along - they were both so sweet she couldn't imagine why anyone would dislike them.

The mention of Vaughn made her frown. "I promise." She sat beside Boyd on the couch, motioning for Nick to sit wherever he wanted. "But if she can change her appearance, wouldn't that be hard? To avoid her, I mean."

Nick found himself a seat in one of the chairs near the couch, a little tucked up in it. He didn't know who Vaughn was nor what she looked like. The idea that Hannah said she could change appearances made it worse. There was a dull throb behind his eyes of when he thought too much, too far ahead. "I can promise, but...I don't know what she even looks like. So I barely know anyone here in this building."

Not that he really made an effort to go out and meet these new people. He leaned down when Gabriel came over, sniffing at his feet and pet the dog again.

"Just keep an eye out for anybody new. Anybody you ain't met before. And get safewords with folks, ways to know it's them. It seems real extreme, I know, but it's important, Hannah. You're my friend; she'll go after you, if she learns it. She might even if she don't," she explained, trying to get the seriousness across in the tone of her words.

The thought of Vaughn was hardly comforting, but Hannah knew worrying over it wouldn't help anything. She'd just have to be careful, as always, and try to avoid the woman entirely - even on the forums. "You'll be fine, Nick. As long as you stay away from 1002 on the forums, she shouldn't have a reason to bother you." She tried to sound reassuring, even though the thought of Vaughn hurting someone as harmless as Nick made her incredibly angry.

"I'll be careful." She'd made the mistake of trusting someone who seemed nice once before, and she wasn't going to let it happen again. "You will be too, right?"

"I'll be careful, but why is she bothering you?" He turned to ask Boyd. No one gave warnings about people unless they had done something to them first. Doctors never warned about patients unless there was a history and patients didn't warn about patients if they weren't attacked first.

"Did she hurt you?" His face drawn with concern.

Boyd looked at both of them carefully. For some reason she trusted them both. She didn't know if it was their shared (messed up) history, or if it was just that they were both good, because they clearly were. The only thing Vaughn had disallowed was talk about being blackmailed. She could keep her word on that.

"She's in love with the man lives on the roof, or she was, now I don't know what she is really, but I was with him once, and everything's gone crazy with her since. She's been keeping him locked up there for years, ain't letting him talk to no one, threatening everyone he cares about if he even thinks about it. I didn't know she had feelings for him, but being real honest, I would have slept with him anyway." She said it with conviction, because there was absolutely no doubt of that in her mind. "She tried to kill me with a real big knife," she said in closing. Not dramatic, just real.

Hannah turned to look at Boyd, awaiting her response to Nick's question. She'd heard rumors about Vaughn, combined with bits and pieces of information she considered at least slightly valid, but sh knew most of it centered around the redhead sitting beside her.

She tried not to look too surprised when she confirmed the fact that she'd slept with the man on the roof, but she'd never been the sort to judge. What Boyd did was her own business, unless she ended up hurting herself as a result. "She doesn't sound very sane." It reminded her slightly of Liam, and the thought of those two actually finding each other made her shiver. "Has she tried to hurt you since? What do you think she wants now, if not the man on the roof?" Instinctively Hannah shifted closer, placing a comforting hand on Boyd's arm.

Nick unfolded himself from his chair and went over to sit on the other side of Boyd. Hearing about that kind of insanity was frightening. The very darkest of the dark without a glimmer of light. "She sounds..." he faltered for the word before settling on one, "she sounds like a very bad person."

He slid an arm around Boyd's shoulders, gently pulling her close for a little when he ran out of words. Nick really wanted to protect Boyd. She may not be Wendy, but she's still someone he can watch out for.

She wrapped her arms around the both of them in return. It was a warm, safe hug, and she somehow knew this sort of thing was not in Vaughn's gameplan. Still, if felt so very nice, so very safe, and she took the comfort it offered in that moment, even as she knew that it meant she had two more people in the building to protect from the witch's clutches.

"You two listen here. If she talks to you, if she does anything at all, if you're scared, anything, and you can't get to me, you talk to 601 or R1, they'll help," she explained. She didn't put Vlad on the list because she knew him well enough to know he helped those he cared about, not random strangers. Daniel and Shane, they would always help.

She didn't know how much help the two of them could be against Vaughn, but Hannah knew it wouldn't stop her from trying. Somehow there had to be a way to stop the woman, and hopefully it wouldn't end in the worst way possible. There were police in the building, which was at least a slight comfort, although Vaughn had been able to evade them so far.

"601 and R1," she repeated with a nod. She'd spoken to 601 over the forums briefly, and even though he was apparently the Big Bad Wolf, he hadn't seemed very mean. "I talked to him - 601 - once. He didn't seem too bad." The man on the roof was a different story, since all she knew about him were things that probably weren't the least bit true. "You take care of yourself too," she added firmly.

Nick thought they could help. If he ever turned into Peter Pan again, "I'm tougher when I'm Peter Pan. Braver," he said with the faintest glimmer of confidence. "I fought Captain Hook. I could take care of a witch." He tried to make it sound like he was joking, but if it came to it. He would do it. Self-preservation was never one of Nick's strong points.

Boyd smiled at one of them, then the other, then she laughed. "We're a real odd collection of saviors," she said, but she hugged them both again, tighter this time. "Just remember, R1 and 601, and if we all turn into stories again, we find each other. It's better in numbers."

"I'm not sure how much help I'd be," she admitted. Cinderella - if that really was her fairy tale - didn't seem to be very useful. After all, she'd talked to Vaughn and even helped her up the stairs, seeing nothing odd about a woman covered by a hooded cloak. "If we turn into stories again, I mean."

Hannah did agree with the 'safety in numbers' adage. "Do you think it'll happen again, becoming our stories?"

"I saved Evie from Jack that last time," Nick told them with a little sigh. "Should stay away from Jack too. He had a hook and he got really mean." He did look a little pleased with himself for managing to protect Evie from him. At least he's good at something when he's not completely himself.

"I think Boyd's right. If we stay together, it's safer," he nodded seriously. "If it happens again. I dunno if it would. It's a weird place.."

"I don't think we'll know 'til it does," she said honestly, "but there's no reason to think it was a one-time thing," she admitted, looking at her new friend with concern. She touched his cheek. "We'll stay together, and nothing'll happen to us," she assured, mostly because she intended to make sure nothing happened to them.

Hannah wasn't too worried, admittedly - it wasn't as though Cinderella had any of her villains in the building, and if all else failed staying in her apartment and locking the door was as good a safeguard as any. Especially if there were wolves and men with hooks roaming the halls.

"Well, Hook wasn't exactly very nice. We should be ready for him and Vaughn - for anything, really." Somehow she doubted a few mice would pose much of a threat, though. "You know, I can't imagine telling my psychiatrist any of this," she added with a small laugh.

Nick couldn't help but to laugh a little, a low almost unused noise. "I think mine is going to put me back if I even mentioned it," Nick grinned slightly at Hannah. Giving them both a little squeeze, "Don't worry. We can find each other if something happens. I won't be hard to miss. I'm probably the only one who's flying."

"Did any of you keep your memories of us while it happened? Cause all I wanted to do is explore. I remembered my friends, but I only wanted to be with ones Red thought was real fun, and for Red, fun and danger are sort of the same thing some," she explained, adding. "And we can't mention this to our doctor's. They'll just give us more meds and lock us up."

Hannah nodded, remembering how her real memories had gotten mixed up with the ones she assumed belonged to Cinderella. "For me it was all mixed up... I couldn't really figure out what belonged to me and what belonged to her, to my fable." She'd probably told Vaughn too much, even if most of it hadn't really made any sense.

"I don't need any more of those." Despite her confession that it did feel safer locked up, she didn't want to go back that badly. "I'd never say a word."

"I wasn't mixed up til I saw Evie," Nick cocked his head to the side remembering. "I was too busy chasing my stupid shadow. It got loose and I didn't have a Wendy to sew it back on, but then I saw Evie. Then Jack and it all got...shaken up like how my head was before I went in the hospital."

Nick didn't like really having to trek over the fact he had to fight Jack. Especially with the look in Jack's eyes this time wasn't fear, but he wanted to truly fight him back. "Definitely didn't like it much."

"We're gonna need to think up a way to find one another," she said thoughtfully, and she glanced down at her hands, which were already starting to shake. It was the first sign she needed to get something into her system, and she didn't want them knowing that she'd developed a problem while dealing with this Vaughn situation.

She smiled brightly at them and she kissed Nick's cheek once, then twice, and then she hugged Hannah and kissed her soft, blonde hair. "I gotta go," she said, standing. "You two keep visiting," she said, hiding her hands behind her back.

And with that, she ran out of the apartment, leaving them both behind.

Boyd's departure was troubling, especially considering the fact that there was something going on with her that she couldn't - or wouldn't - talk about, but she simply returned the hug and watched her leave, chewing on her bottom lip. Where did she have to go in such a hurry? The last thing she wanted was to get Boyd in any kind of trouble, or even locked up again, but she couldn't just sit by and let her friend deal with whatever was bothering her on her own.

She turned back to Nick with a smile and a small shrug, trying to blink away the worry in her eyes. "Aside from Jack and chasing shadows, how have you been?"
