Who: Boyd and Nick and added Hannah!
What: Nick wants to help Boyd.
Where: 1007 to start
When: Immediately following this
Warnings: Crazy talk? Possible drug references? Nick may awkward you to death?

Nick hadn't really known what to tell Boyd. He had never been given much a chance to offer anyone real comfort, even Evie had rarely needed any comforting. Venturing out the door and down the stairs seemed like a feat on a good day, but talking with Boyd had picked at the corner of his brain he didn't like being awoken.

He took his Seroquel like clockwork before poking his head in to see Evie. She had her headphones on, so he didn't bother her. He'd just leave a note that he stuck on the fridge and grabbed his sketchbooks from the hospital. If they were going to talk, it was best he brought what really said all he could about the hospital.

He took the stairs to the tenth floor and looked for 1007. Fidgeting with the hem of his shirt for a moment, Nick took deep, calming breaths before he was able to knock on Boyd's door.

She didn't bother dressing to make an impression on Nick. It was out of the ordinary for her, not hiding behind her looks. But the girl who opened the door for him looked exactly like Boyd felt: Like a woman not yet in her 20s who had lost control of everything somehow.

She was wearing a pair of drawstring pajama pants with bunnies on them and a white baby tee, and her long, red hair was in two braids down her back. The only thing remarkable about her appearance was the circles beneath her eyes and the drugged state of her pupils. She didn't even bother shoving the box of prescription medicines into the top drawer when Nick knocked.

Maybe it was finally time to be open with someone?

She tugged the door open, hand on the frame, cheek pressed to her hand, and she smiled at him. He was young, very close to her age, but maybe a little older. And he had kind eyes.

"Hey, honey," she said softly, and she looked over his shoulder for any haunts that would be visiting along with him.

"Hi," Nick replied awkwardly. For some reason, he didn't picture Boyd to look like this. Everyone was always older in his head. More mature. She looked young, but worn down. Pretty, though, a pretty that Nick itched to draw the smile she had on her face.

He gave her an imitation of a smile back, as if he didn't know how to tug his mouth up in the expression. Over his shoulder was the ghastly haunt of a middle-aged woman who hung close against his back.

"May I come in?" Nick asked, polite as ever.

His mother, she assumed, and she smiled at the haunt, welcoming. Ever since Red, she'd been able to get more off the ghosts, and they seemed to get more off her. She hoped the reassuring smile would put the woman at ease, let her wander away from them.

She looked back at him, and she gave him a tired (but genuine) smile, closing her fingers around the hem of his shirt and tugging him into the apartment. The action gave him a glimpse of what she was normally like, even if it was still reserved (for her).

"That's an invitation, honey," she said, letting the door close behind him.

The haunt backed off to let Nick be pulled into the apartment. Nick's eyebrows shot up towards his hairline as she tugged him in to her apartment. Even the rare bold move threw him off guard for a moment, leaving him looking a little flustered.

"Oh. Well. Okay," he stumbled out his words. He looked around the apartment, just scanning a little. "..You have a really nice place, Boyd."

She smiled more genuinely when she realized the tug had thrown him off. Not a lot of contact, then, for Peter Pan. She didn't know why, honestly. He was adorable, and she tugged again on the shirt, walking him backward all the way to the floral couch under the window. "Thanks. It's real girly," she admitted, looking around at all the floral and white. "But it's mine, and that's nice."

She curled her legs beneath her, and she reached forward a hand to push his dark hair from his eyes. "Hey," she said quietly with an honest, non-threatening smile.

"I like it. I don't think it's that girly. I draw a lot of flowers like that," he gestured a little to the pattern on the couch as she lead him. He didn't protest that either.

Nick smiled another hesitant smile as she pushed his hair from his eyes. Sometimes it was easier to hide behind that. "Hi." he replied, "Sorry I'm...they had a lot of rules. Bout touching and cause they thought I'd go violent if anybody touched me so..sorry."

She tipped her head, but she didn't stop from brushing the black locks back. Boyd was affectionate, and nothing was going to change that. "There wasn't much touching in the woman's wards," she admitted, "but I was never violent. Just visual hallucinations is all," she admitted. "Why'd they think you were violent?" she asked, scooting forward a tiny bit, her knees against the side of his thigh. She didn't acknowledge personal space; she never had.

"Cause I attacked Jack, I think. Well, it wasn't Jack. He's Hook," Nick explained. It made sense for Peter Pan to attack Hook, except to anyone else it was unwarranted. "I was...sure he was going to hurt everyone. Made sense to fight a pirate, I guess."

"That happened when you were ten?" she asked, leaning her cheek against the back of the couch lazily and listening, her gaze a little unfocused, movements just a little slow. "He must have been around twenty then. What happened, honey?"

He's seen girls like Boyd before in group therapy. Her gaze reminded him of the hospital, which was almost comforting. She at least was on the same page as he was in some way. Tentatively, Nick reached out to take her hand with a a little squeeze.

"Yeah I was ten," Nick nodded, "I gave everyone a fright. They got me to a hospital and then I just...never came home. I didn't stop seeing my fairies til a few years in to it. Then I came here and it all came back."

She smiled when he took her hand, because it felt like a touch from a kindred soul, someone who didn't want her to save him, someone who maybe understood what things had been like for her.

"I never stopped seeing things," she admitted. "There, here, other places. I did all sorts of things to try and chase what I saw away, but it wouldn't go." She tugged his hand up, held her own palm against his and measured it against hers, letting the comforting silence fill the room for a second. "You ever wonder if it's true? If you're seeing things like they say? Or if it's really there? Even being here, being whatever we are, I still wonder some. If no one else can see it, is it real?"

"What do you see?" he was curious to know what she had seen. "When I'd really...see a lot of things. They'd lead me places, that was the real problem too. I'd follow where the fairies would and scare the hell out of my family."

He looked at how big his hand was in comparison to hers before he bent his fingers down to clasp her hand. "Sometimes I do. Worse after the...weird Saturday thing. I saw Tinkerbell and I felt like I was back where I was before everything else." He shrugged his shoulders, "Never flew before though, so I assume that was real.."

"Dead folks," she said easily. "Seen them ever since my momma got killed along with my daddy when I was ten. Then my grandmother when I was twelve. After Saturday they talk to me, which I guess makes some sense, what with Little Red Riding Hood," she admitted, stretching her fingers in his grasp before settling them against his again and giving him a sweet smile, then holding up her other hand.

It was exceptionally simplistic; the sort of touch adults really wouldn't think to do, but it was something she didn't have to think about. It was contact for the sake of contact, and it was easy to focus on, even through the drugs; safe.

"I would be real scared if you were my kin and you went missing like that," she admitted. "They wanna take you off to Neverland? The fairies?" she asked, adding, "they got room for one more?"

When she heard the knock at her door, Hannah was sitting cross-legged in the middle of the living room, surrounded by stacks of information about various colleges in the area. It was about time she enrolled and started getting a little direction in her life, since she'd just realized how pathetically dull her life really was.

Gabriel started barking and raced to the door, eliminating the 'pretend not to be home' option. With a sigh she got to her feet, nudging the puppy out of the way before pulling the door open. Her surprise was evident when she saw Boyd and Nick - especially Nick - standing in front of her, but it quickly changed to a genuine smile. "Hi! You-- sorry, I just wasn't expecting anyone." She stepped aside to let them in, her gaze flickering momentarily to their joined hands.

"God, I haven't seen you in so long." That was directed towards Nick, but she turned to Boyd with just a hint of concern in her eyes. She didn't ask outright if the other girl was okay, but it was fairly obvious that she wanted to.

Nick was still a little pink from actually blushing after Boyd kissed his cheek. Girls, he was finding, were really unusual. Nice, but unusual. He a crooked smile at Hannah, letting himself be lead inside. Almost immediately, he dropped Boyd's hand to crouch down to scratch Gabriel behind the ears, almost focused on nothing else.

"Hi. Um. Boyd said we could visit cause we're friends. It's..okay right?" he asked her when he finally looked up. "It's good to see you again, Hannah."

Boyd noticed Hannah's glance toward their hands, and she gave her friend a little head shake, even as she nudged the blushing Nick into the apartment. "Course it's alright we visit," she said, immediately smiling down at the puppy when Nick crouched beside it, and then giving Hannah a warm, spontaneous hug. "Sometimes it's real good to see friends," she said softly, kissing Hannah on the cheek as she'd done Nick a few moment earlier.

Nick looked better than she'd thought he would, since she knew how hard it was for her to cope after she was released from the institution, and he'd been there much longer. Gabriel thrived on the attention, eager to make the boy scratching him behind the ears a new friend. She caught Boyd's head shake with a slight blush, since the look had been curious - but not like that.

"Of course it's okay, like Boyd said." Hannah didn't mind unexpected visits from people she wanted to see. "It's good to see you too."

The hug caught her off guard, but she returned it just as warmly. "I'm glad you came by," she said quietly. She could use the distraction, after all. "Can I get you guys anything? I'm kind of low on groceries, but I think I'm still on the manageable side so far."

Nick laughed a little at the puppy before he awkwardly looked up. He dropped his hands and stood up, taking a tentative step forward and reached up to hug Hannah too when Boyd broke off. "It's cool you knew Boyd, cause I kinda knew you two would get along if you didn't already."

He backed off out of the hug pretty quickly, still unused to being physical with people. Maybe he was getting better at it? He could tell that to his therapist too. Shaking his head a little, "I'm fine thank you, Hannah."

Boyd found Nick's awkwardness completely endearing, and she went and sat on Hannah's couch, curling up comfortably and watching her friends. "Nick was telling me about the hospital you two were in," she explained. Even as she spoke, she thought about Evie's protective streak; she understood it better now. "I want you two to promise me you'll steer clear of Vaughn if she tries and talks to either of you. Promise a girl, or I'll fret."

Hannah knew that Nick and physical affection weren't quite comfortable with each other just yet, but the tentative hug still made her smile. "You have a knack for knowing that kind of thing, I think." She couldn't have imagined Nick and Boyd not getting along - they were both so sweet she couldn't imagine why anyone would dislike them.

The mention of Vaughn made her frown. "I promise." She sat beside Boyd on the couch, motioning for Nick to sit wherever he wanted. "But if she can change her appearance, wouldn't that be hard? To avoid her, I mean."

Nick found himself a seat in one of the chairs near the couch, a little tucked up in it. He didn't know who Vaughn was nor what she looked like. The idea that Hannah said she could change appearances made it worse. There was a dull throb behind his eyes of when he thought too much, too far ahead. "I can promise, but...I don't know what she even looks like. So I barely know anyone here in this building."

Not that he really made an effort to go out and meet these new people. He leaned down when Gabriel came over, sniffing at his feet and pet the dog again.

"Just keep an eye out for anybody new. Anybody you ain't met before. And get safewords with folks, ways to know it's them. It seems real extreme, I know, but it's important, Hannah. You're my friend; she'll go after you, if she learns it. She might even if she don't," she explained, trying to get the seriousness across in the tone of her words.

The thought of Vaughn was hardly comforting, but Hannah knew worrying over it wouldn't help anything. She'd just have to be careful, as always, and try to avoid the woman entirely - even on the forums. "You'll be fine, Nick. As long as you stay away from 1002 on the forums, she shouldn't have a reason to bother you." She tried to sound reassuring, even though the thought of Vaughn hurting someone as harmless as Nick made her incredibly angry.

"I'll be careful." She'd made the mistake of trusting someone who seemed nice once before, and she wasn't going to let it happen again. "You will be too, right?"

"I'll be careful, but why is she bothering you?" He turned to ask Boyd. No one gave warnings about people unless they had done something to them first. Doctors never warned about patients unless there was a history and patients didn't warn about patients if they weren't attacked first.

"Did she hurt you?" His face drawn with concern.

Boyd looked at both of them carefully. For some reason she trusted them both. She didn't know if it was their shared (messed up) history, or if it was just that they were both good, because they clearly were. The only thing Vaughn had disallowed was talk about being blackmailed. She could keep her word on that.

"She's in love with the man lives on the roof, or she was, now I don't know what she is really, but I was with him once, and everything's gone crazy with her since. She's been keeping him locked up there for years, ain't letting him talk to no one, threatening everyone he cares about if he even thinks about it. I didn't know she had feelings for him, but being real honest, I would have slept with him anyway." She said it with conviction, because there was absolutely no doubt of that in her mind. "She tried to kill me with a real big knife," she said in closing. Not dramatic, just real.
