Who: Everyone
What: 4th of July/America's Ass' surprise birthday party
When: 4th of July DUH
Where: Governor's Island
Rating: Don't do anything Rogers wouldn't do! *shakes finger*

Disguised as a legit celebration/benefit for America's veterans, the surprise birthday party for Steve is kept as lowkey as possible...considering it's Captain America.

You know the drill!

Sif was pretty sure that that game wasn't called cornhole but she had learned better than to trust Drax's atymologies.

"I would enjoy a game of throwing accuracy. It's not my strongest skill, so practice is always welcome."

"Before cornholing, let us play the game of metal shoes," Drax suggested, flexing the muscles in his arms in preparation. "My aim is true and deadly, renown in several star systems."

Of course, he was really only good at using weapons that were in his hands while they were in his hands. Once they were thrown, it was anyone's guess where they would end up.

Naturally, Drax wasn't thinking about that fact. He walked toward the horseshoe pit and picked up horseshoes for both himself and Sif, waiting to give them to her.

Sif took her share from Drax. This was a simple enough game that she knew how to play it, and tossed her two shoes at the ring at once: one ringer and one leaner. They weren't weapons, but ot was close enough that her aim was reliable. They would make good weapons in a fight.

"Your turn," she told Drax.

Drax knew nothing other than 'throw the thing' which was rudimentary, and he did it with such force that the post rang like a bell as the curved outer arch of the horseshoe bounced off it.

He threw a second one that flew right past the post and hit the back barrier to keep such things from flying off and boomeranging someone's ankle bones.

"Damn." He turned to look at Sif. "They never return. This game is always broken."

"You did well with the first throw," Sif praised him, as if he were a small child. "I do not believe these are meant to return. The weapons that are thrown and circle back are built at a different angle."

She went to pick up the shoes and returned for another toss, this time letting Drax go first.

It was a good thing that she reminded him before getting the horseshoes, since Drax's mouth was open wide like he was about to bellow out the word 'RETURN' in the hopes it was voice activated.

"Thank you, friend." Drax took the four shoes in his hands, and threw all of them at once.

One actually stuck to the post and Drax threw both arms up over his head.

"Up your face!" he announced, triumphantly.

"Well done," SIf praised him again. "Now I will fetch them and take a turn."

Which she did. Her four throws all landed near, or around, the post. "Now I see the saying: close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. Which are, I think, an explosive thrown in the same way. Do you know how to count the points, friend Drax?"

"I do not. I only count it as one when it hits. I ignore the rest."

Which tended to be his way of doing things, most of the time.

"I appreciate your patience," he told Sif, as he felt something shift in his stomach. It was a mass of half chewed meat tubes and squishy buns that wasn't settling right. Before running to the portable toilet, he thought it was better to leave on a compliment rather than wander off while under the belief he was invisible, which was also what he usually did. "It is a quality not often found in warriors, or in people like Quill or Rocket. They are my friends, but they are friends who yell and wave their arms or paws a lot."

He nodded to her and said, "I should go soon. I need the cold aid of lemons to settle the hot dogs I ate earlier, followed by the chamber of relieving one's self. I will show you the corn holing game later, if you'd like."

"I'd enjoy that. Fare well until then."

Drax really was like a child sometimes. But not always in a bad way.
