A well read spy was a good spy and Natasha was nothing if not good. It was a point of pride and the effortless look took more to achieve than people expected.

"Same difference. If they know it's you causing it it doesn't much matter what your backstory is. Besides, people have more fun making up stories anyway. It's a help and a hindrance to the work."

"Oh, yeah? That's something. Though getting naked defeats the whole purpose of a disguise and a cover story. Now they have your face and any other identifying mark."

Peter had no good response back to that. Everything Nat said made sense, but like fuck he was going to admit that. Instead, he just shrugged and smirked. "Yeah, gossip is fun. I like feeding into it. Sometimes, I'd go to cantinas and just drop random facts about me and my crew, bullshit of course, but when I'd hear it repeated a few systems over? Always made me laugh." It also helped the myth of the Guardians. "And hey, everyone whose seen my dick remembers it, okay?" He gave her a wink. "Wanna test that theory?"

Well, he wasn't a complete idiot if he was at least employing gossip in a useful form. But she had an idea most people knew why he was adding to the rumor mill despite his best efforts. "It's a strange game of telephone. Did it ever get twisted in a way that wasn't beneficial?" Natasha fully expected that to be the case especially if Peter was drinking at the time.

She simply gave him an even look and arched an eyebrow. "No, no thank you. I have other engagements that are more entertaining."

Natasha could grudgingly respect him for that attitude though he never was going to learn which ones would work and which ones wouldn't. To each their own. She simply arched an eyebrow at him. A legend that was filled with more laughter than actual menace or a reputation that meant anything.

She bit back a sigh. "I'll keep that in mind," she said mildly. She would need her brain checked if that ever happened.
