She waved him off -- both literally and figuratively, since she was still holding a flag. "Christine, yeah, and you don't need to thank me. I'm a doctor. It's actually my job to ensure people heal, basically what I signed up for when I decided I didn't want to live a life of my own anymore." That was a joke. She really did love the work she did, and was happy that she could.

"I guess we haven't really had a chance to introduce ourselves. So yes, I'm Dr. Christine Palmer. I run the clinic with Bruce. Stephen's my best friend." Among other things. "I like to crochet and sometimes I read trashy romance novels. That is me in a nutshell." She grinned. "Your turn."

Christine had to laugh. That had always been people's reactions in medical school, when she introduced him as her boyfriend (or friend, depending on what stage in their relationship they were). And more often than not, she really was one of his only friends. She was glad to see he had more now.

"Hey, don't think I didn't notice: you didn't answer my question. Who are you, Steve? I gave you my answers. Shared my soul," she teased. "Come on. How do you describe yourself?"

"And that's what I was asking. About you. The guy. " She put a hand on her hip and cocked her head. "And you have absolutely no idea how to answer that. Interesting. Good thing I'm a surgeon and not a psychologist -- not sure what to say about that."

She smiled.

"I would fall asleep if you started talking about missions. There's a reason I don't have a history degree."

Christine shook her head. "Nope. I don't know ANY of them, other than Tony and we really only talk about money."

Reaching into her pocket, she pulled out her lipstick and reapplied a layer on her bottom lip. Smacking them together, she raised an eyebrow.

"I'll get a better answer out of you yet, Steve. We'll be friends one day." She grinned. That was a promise.

Christine gave a giggle. "And that's how I know you're old. Who buys newspapers anymore?"

She gave Steve a friendly nudge with her shoulder and was about to say something when her phone went off for a text.

Glancing at it, she made an 'oh' sound. "Looks like the fireworks are starting soon. I'm going to head up there." She gave a little wave at Steve. "I'll see you around!"
