Mike Corner & Hestia Jones

Thursday, June 14th | Holodecks | PG

Cuties hanging out.

Mike enjoyed Hestia's company so he jumped at the chance to join her at the holodeck complex. He hadn't explored that particular activity yet, but he was more excited about seeing Hestia.

He changed out of his uniform and made sure to use a charm that made him smell good. He also chose his outfit carefully, finally settling on black trousers and a blue polo. He arrived at the holodeck and kept an eye out for Hestia.

	Mike laughed and reached up to fix his hat. "Come on," he said, taking her hand again so he didn't lose her in the crowd. "Let's find a decent spot." He never thought he'd be celebrating New Year's the muggle way, but he was excited. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Hestia allowed him to lead her, her fingers wrapped around his hand as they moved through the crowd. Hestia smiled at the faces of the people in the simulation and realized that it had to have been some sort of recording. With a mental note to pick something like this when she was alone, Hestia found herself stopped with him and looked up at the ball, the roar of the crowd around them. "It's impossible to believe that people do this every year!"

"They are so happy," she said as she stood gazing around in wonder. "No one cares about a dark wizard, no one cares about war. They're all just happy with life, and maybe a bit drunk." She was grinning at him and just as she went in to kiss his cheek, someone blew a party whistle in her ear, causing her to shriek and jump from surprise. "Oh, oh gosh- I'm sorry!"

"This place is full of 'em," she breathed, her free hand resting on her stomach in an attempt to calm her nerves. The sway of the crowd carried them along as they all stood in place, cheering and chatting on. "It reminds me a bit of Guy Fawkes Night," she realized, her eyes barely registering the images on the billboards. "Though this might be what it's like in London if we went there at this time."

	Mike reached over to hug her in an attempt to calm her. "Yeah, probably," Mike agreed. "I wonder if I ever do any muggle things like this in my future." He wasn't against muggles at all; he just never really had the chance to partake in their traditions. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Hestia wrapped her arms around in him in response, her head resting on his shoulder. "I hope you do," she whispered in his ear, her gaze still fixated on the lights. "We might have magic, but the muggles, they just do things differently. That's why I went into-" she paused and shook her head, pressing a kiss against his shirt. "I just hope that you do. Because this is brilliant."

	"Hey, it is alright. You can tell me anything." He ran his fingers down her back as he looked at the ball, which shone in the darkness. Hestia's head found his shoulder again and she breathed in, smiling through her anxiety; knowing about the future was hard enough, but knowing that he was happy in the future and that they won the war, wasn't that worth everything? Wasn't it enough to know that they succeeded? Explaining that was impossible, and so she shook her head and exhaled before looking up at him. "Everything that we did in the past, in my time, it got you to where you are. Here, now. And that's the best feeling. Better than this ball drop. That's all."

	Mike turned his head to he could kiss the cheek not resting on his shoulder. "I get it," he admitted. "We had a rough last year at Hogwarts and then the Final Battle...it was difficult. 	Hestia nodded and closed her eyes, her arms wrapping around him so that she could try to get him to sway in place with her. "Suppose we could celebrate any holiday we wanted," she murmured, toying her nose against the skin of his neck. "I think, after this, we ought to do something you want. Whatever it is. "Like an amusement park?" she grinned. Nothing sounded nicer than being chased by pirates or using muggle machinery to make her friends laugh. She'd never been to an amusement park but knew of the muggles ones in America. Maybe, if the holodecks could do this... "Yes, I think we ought to. That would be really fun. With friends, just us, whatever. I've never been in a bumper car."

	"It might be okay with you," she admitted, her eyes darting between the sky and the lights. Hestia felt a shiver of anxiety from the idea of flying around between the buildings and turned her attention back to Mike. "If you fly, I'll be okay. Hestia planned to argue with him but he was right; the ball was dropping and people around them began counting down, the unified chorus of numbers resonating against the buildings around them. She adjusted her hat and joined in the chanting, the tip of her nose tingling as she fought excitement and anticipation. "This is the best new years I've ever had," she shouted, interrupting the numbers as the counter got closer to one.
