Gale: Net Post
I've read so many stories of great ships traversing the stars but certainly never predicted that I, myself, would be catapulting through Wildspace aboard one such vessel. Divination always was my weakest school of magic. Hail and well met, I am Gale of Waterdeep; wizard by passsion and profession and, most recently added to my curriculum vitae, quartermaster for magical items that might assist anyone in the field. I have my spellbook with me, thank the Weave, so if you have need of magical artifice I'll see what I can do to assist you.

I suspect I will be spending the next week in the library reading everything I can about...all of this.

The demands of tradition, I'm afraid. An archmage abandons their given surname and replaces it with an epithet to denote their dedication to their city. Like a raw gem, Waterdeep has its stunning facets and its sharp, unforgiving edges. Thankfully my tower is decidedly the former and not at all the latter. I'd certainly be a lousy archmage if I couldn't conjure comfort in my own home!

The Weave is a topic for an entire day or, more accurately, an immortal lifetime of study. Alas, I am but merely mortal, and I try and answer one question at a time. A byproduct of strict academia, unfortunately. Also...this method of communication requires some getting used to.

I agree. Texting took a while for me to master, and even now I still throw the phone they gave me. I wasn't raised with technology, but some of my friends thought it would be for the best if we kept in touch with those of us who lead more complicated lives. Phones are faster than owls, or so they say.

I'm a witch, but my power comes from me and is channeled with a wand. We don't rely on anything like the Weave. I hope that you can find a way to continue to use your magic here - assuming it isn't something physical that you have to be near?

I think there's something quite sophisticated about correspondence via owl! I have a tressym, a fey winged cat of sorts, who will sometimes deliver my letters. I quite like the idea of not being available at the drop of a hat. There's a certain romance and excitement to eagerly awaiting a letter, ripping it open, and replying by candlelight. I'm quite curious about your brand of power-- witchery? Witchcraft? What do you call it?

If I manage to find one of our owls on board I promise to bring it by to you so that you can study it. They're obedient for us, but I'm not sure how they'd do for others. At school, we were permitted to have them as pets but most students used the owlery; I appreciated that, as they can be messy creatures.

It's... Magic. I don't really know how to classify it beyond that. Most of us use our wands, some can do non-verbal magic. We aren't limited by schools of magic, or elements, things like that. It's almost as if the possibilities are endless, but some people do have an affinity for certain spells and things like that.
