Jaina didn’t even bother knocking on the front door of the houseboat Jacen lived in. She knew his roommate wasn’t there and she could feel her twin sitting in the living room with some kind of creature. She almost felt bad for Theodore Nott being stuck living with her brother, not that she’d tell anyone that, well, she might tell her brother.

Plopping down on the couch, she put her feet up on the table before speaking. “Uncle Luke, Anakin Skywalker, our Grandmother and Kyp, who are you betting on showing up next?” Jaina asked. She wasn’t sure if Jacen knew about Kyp yet.

“Kyp’s here?” Jacen said, answering the question of whether he’d known while completely ignoring the rest of her list. He did now and made a mental note to find the man later. “Does he know about Lando Jr. yet?” He couldn’t help smirking a little as he glanced over at her.

Her answer was to throw a pillow at him, which she almost did but decided against. Instead, she just glared at him. “No.” She answered. “It hasn’t come up, but with other people from New Zealand here, who knows what he’ll learn.” She grumbled. She didn’t want him to hear about it from someone else.

Jacen very maturely stuck out his tongue in answer to her glare. “I think it’s just us, Obi-Wan and Thor here with New Zealand, but yeah, telling him sooner is probably better than later.” It was part of why he’d askd the question. “If you haven’t told him, I guess I can wait to give him the big brother speech.”

“Big brother? You’re younger than me, remember?” She laughed. “Or have you forgotten that part?” She didn’t care about how he’d aged in the force, she was still the older sibling. “But he deserves to know, he’s still from the Yuuzhan Vong war, so…”

“Details,” Jacen rolled his eyes as he answered. Younger twin or not, he still felt like he had that big brother role. He was protective of Jaina, whether he was technically younger or not. Anyway, he looked older, so that counted, right? “Yeah, he does deserve to know, sis. Better from you than anyone else.”

“He’s either going to take it really well, or really poorly, and I’m not even sure which one I expect,” or wanted to see happen. There was a lot of questions there. “But enough about Kyp,” she decided quickly. “What about all the rest of our family…”

Jacen let her change the subject, nodding. “I wish they were a bit older,” he admitted before amending, “well not grandfather, obviously, but most of them didn’t even know who we were.” They were both used to younger versions of their family showing up and versions of family who had died before they were born, like Bail Organa and Uncle Luke in New Zealand, but it didn’t mean he was fond of the experience.

“He’s a pain at this age,” she admitted, trying not to roll her eyes. “But yeah, it’d be a problem if he was older, but Uncle Luke, it’d be nice if he knew us, it feels like everyone who comes doesn’t have a clue who we are or our timeline, except for Kyp but they were talking about family right now. “I guess we’ll just have to show them all what they’re missing.”

“Even Mara only really knows us from Atlantis,” he said. She had known who they were, at least, just not as young adults or even teenagers. He knew their aunt had been in Atlantis with other versions of them, which was weird in its own light, too. “It would be nice if someone could show up at the right age and with the right memories, but you’re right. We just get a chance to show them how awesome we are with no preconceptions.” He was half-joking about that. After a pause, he added, “I know you’re not crazy about grandfather being around,” he offered. Even without their twin bond, he could have felt the emotions that arrival sparked in Jaina.

“Yeah, it would be really nice,” she missed people who knew them and that she could talk to. She loved her twin, but there were some things that talking to your twin brother about wasn’t the best idea. When he brought up their grandfather, she groaned. “Yeah, well, you can’t tell me you are excited at the prospect of him being here?” But of course, Jacen was always better at dealing with these kinds of things. “I know he’s from before, but how far? What do we really know?”

“I am a little bit,” Jacen admitted. “I know we don’t know how close he is to [...] anything, but we have the chance to actually know him. Who he really was and not just the stories.” There hadn’t been anyone left alive by their time who had really known Anakin Skywalker. There were bits and pieces from stories, holos and that kind of stuff, but they had truthfully never known any of their grandparents, It was hard not to be curious about who they had been.

“You can feel his ego from a few starships away,” Jaina shrugged. “I think he’s not too far away from the dark side.” She didn’t know for sure but his age. The way he felt in the force. “I can’t believe I’m saying this but we need to be careful.”

“Weird when you’re the careful one,” Jacen quipped before nodding. “Maybe he’s close, but maybe we can make the difference here. Besides, it’s not like we’ve never been cocky.” He’d always thought it was a Solo trait, but maybe some of that came from the Skywalker side. And maybe having his family around would keep Anakin from stepping over that line. Maybe they could learn something from him, too.

“There is a difference between cocky and him,” she warned. Maybe she was being unfair but something about him just annoyed her and well, he annoyed her, he was insufferable, arrogant and a pain in the ass.

“Uh huh.” It wasn’t like Jacen didn’t realize their grandfather could be dangerous. “He’s here now and he has all of us. We should give him a chance. Especially since we know how hard resisting the Dark Side can be. If anyone can help him avoid that fall, it’s his family.”

Jaina simply sighed. Well, it came out as a sigh-growl. “He’s still a pain in the ass and he likes to flaunt it.” She said but decided it was better to drop the subject, they didn’t need to talk about it any more than they already had. “I’ll leave you to be the helpful twin.”

Jacen nodded, knowing that Jaina’s mind was made up on the subject. It wouldn’t do any good to argue with her about it. “So, Kyp is here?” he said, instead changing the subject to one her was sure she equally didn’t want to talk about.

“Yup,” she confirmed with a smirk. “Looks like we’re getting a mix of different people from home all of a sudden,” she wasn’t sure she should mention how she felt about seeing him. “I think I’ll have to tell him, you know…”

“You’d better,” Jacen agreed. “I don’t think you want me or Obi-Wan to do it.” He was teasing, partly. It wasn’t a job he wanted, anyway, but he couldn’t help making the teasing suggestion that either of them might. It was lucky there wasn’t anyone else here who remembered New Zealand, as far as he knew.

“Don’t even joke!” Jaina sighed dramatically. “I don’t even want to think about how that would go over.”

Jacen laughed. He couldn’t help it. “I guess you should tell him sooner rather than later then, right?” he said, actually half serious.

Jaina just tossed him an annoyed look but nodded. “Yeah, why don’t you just go tell Violet that you’ve been interested in her for, what, months and want to spend quality time with her.” She made a disgusted expression. “Just don’t tell me about it.”

Jacen responded by throwing a pillow at her. “Violet knows how I feel, and we aren’t talking about me,” he said. “You’re just trying to change the subject so you can put off talking to Kyp.”

“There isn’t anything to talk about,” that was a lie, and she knew Jacen knew it too, but it was also clear Jaina wasn't ready to talk about Kyp or what their weird one possible future might look like. “Come on, let’s get food or something.”

Jacen decided not to dignify that claim with any further argument. “Alright, food,” he agreed. Smirking, he added, “We can get you a little liquid courage, too.”
