Who: Megan Jones, Ginny Weasley, Heidi Macavoy and Tracey Davis
What: It continues to be a rough year for Tracey…
When: January 11th, Wednesday 1997. 6:45pm
Where: Hufflepuff Girl’s dorms then near the Quidditch pitch.
Rating: pg-13, for now.

Tracey came running through the halls in search of somewhere to hide. Her hands covered her nose and she choked on the disgusting fluid clogging her nose. It had run out and covered the front of her sweater and robes. Small bats of the disgusting fluid chased her down the halls.

Her state caused quite a few to point and laugh. Though none laughed harder than the Slytherins that saw her. She couldn’t go back to her house. Luckily, Megan was near Hufflepuff when she got close and she let her in so she could run up to Heidi’s room.

She hadn’t seen her girlfriend and she didn’t know whether to hope she was in her room or not when she got there. Flinging open the door, Tracey ran in and made her way to Heidi’s bed.

Heidi was making her way back from tutoring to the Hufflepuff dorms. She had had a tutoring session with Professor Delacour, which was a bit awkward, knowing what was going on between her and Lavender, but still helpful nonetheless. She heard the snides and jokes from mostly Slytherins and just rolled her eyes and ignored them as she made her way to Hufflepuff.

Making her way inside she saw the concerned looks and was confused. As she made her way up to her room, she loosened her tie that went along with her untucked blouse and skirt. She slipped her robes off and began to remove her scarf as she entered her room.

Immediately, she dropped her robes, scarf and bag as she saw the girl in her bed. "Tracey." she said in a hurried, concerned tone and rushed to her bed. "What's wrong?"

Tracey was trying not to get anything on Heidi’s bed as she sat there. She hung her head and some dripped on the floor causing Tracey to moan pathetically and feel nauseous. The door opened and felt a flood of relief when Heidi came in.

“I gob hexed.” Her words were terribly nasal and almost impossible to understand she was so clogged up. The bats continued to circle and annoy her. “I can’t eben stop it…can’t…talk right,” she said, half sobbing and half gagging.

She looked at Heidi imploring her to help.

As she rushed over to her girlfriend's side, Heidi kneeled in front of her to look at what had happened. In any other circumstance, Heidi would have found Tracey's voice absolutely adorable. But right now, she wanted to deck whoever did this to her.

Taking out her wand, Heidi used the counter spell for the hex. Being best friends with Ginny Weasley, the Bat Bogey hex queen, She of course knew the proper counter and had been the victim of the hex herself before. "Is that better?" she asked once she saw that the bats were disappearing.

"Who did this?" she asked, still on one knee in front of Tracey, a hand on the blonde's knee.

Tracey wiped her nose pathetically with her sleeve once the counter-curse had been uttered. She left a long, shiny line of snot on her sleeve. “Yuck!” She felt so disgusting and humiliated. She really didn’t want Heidi to see her like this.

She nodded dejectedly. “Yes.” Tracey’s voice was still a little stuffy but a lot better than it had been.

Tracey paused for a long time. She really didn’t want to tell Heidi who had done it. She looked at Heidi. “Shouldn’t I…clean up first?”

Heidi watched as Tracey settled down from the hex. Anyone else and it would be gross, but Tracey just looked pitiful in a somehow endearing way. "It's okay." she said soothingly as she rubbed Tracey's knee.

Standing, Heidi held out a hand. She could tell that Tracey was avoiding the question, but Heidi would revisit it later. "Yeah, come on, the bathroom is down the hall."

Leading Tracey to the community bath, it was a simple, classic white tiled bathroom with sinks and mirrors along the walls and showers and stalls. Luckily, no one was in there at the moment.

Tracey felt absolutely miserable. “I’ll clean it up,” she assured Heidi. She wouldn’t once she felt human again. She allowed Heidi to bring her to the loo. “Can I get…some clothes?” Anything Heidi would give her would be a little tight but it was better than a snot covered uniform!

Happy to see no one around, Heidi began to shuck her clothes near the shower. Once they were gone, she climbed in and turned the water so hot it started to turn her skin pink.

Had Heidi forgotten about who had done this? It was unlikely. Tracey was really dreading telling her. She was dreading it so much that she was tempted to lie. But, she knew she couldn’t…

The whole thing was more confusing to her than anything.

"Don't worry about it, I'll do it." Heidi shrugged. The last thing she was worried about was her floor and bed. Nodding, She waited until Tracey was in the shower before going back to her room to get some clothes.

In her room, she did a few quick cleaning spells before removing some old comfy yoga pants and a baggy hufflepuff quidditch jersey and heading back to the bathroom.

"Trace?" she called, seeing that the girl was still in the shower. "I got you some clothes." she told her and reached down to pick up Tracey's knickers and bra and put them on top of her new clothes and set them on the bench outside of the shower before sitting down herself and folding Tracey's messy uniform and waiting on her lover.

“Thanks,” Tracey muttered. She really was appreciative but she still felt terribly embarrassed about her state and what had happened.

The shower was blissful and she stayed in for a long time. It seemed like a good place to hide from everything that had happened. “I am here,” she called back to Heidi. Knowing she had to get out eventually, she shut the water off and emerged with a towel; her skin deep pink from the heat of the shower.

“Thanks,” she muttered again. “Is this Cedric’s?” she asked, holding up the big jersey. “Are you sure it is all right?” She knew how important that few things she had left of Cedric’s meant to Heidi.

Putting on her knickers, she didn’t feel like putting on the bra. Putting on the pants, she waited for confirmation about the Hufflepuff jersey.

At the question, Heidi was silent for a moment before giving a soft smile and nodding. "Yeah. Yeah, it's his." she confirmed.

Again, if it was anyone else, she would never let them touch, let alone wear Cedric's jersey, but it was okay if it was Tracey. And she had to admit, the girl looked adorable in the big jersey, sporting Hufflepuff colors.

Standing and looking at Tracey, she still looked pitiful in the most endearing way possible. Moving towards her, Heidi wasted no time in taking Tracey in her arms and burying her face in her still damp blonde locks.

After another few moments of silence, Heidi whispered into Tracey's hair. "Who did this to you?"

“I’ll be careful with it,” Tracey assured Heidi. She felt so much better about things now that she was with Heidi. Trusting Tracey with the jersey only made her feel better. “I don’t look a little funny in gold in black?” she joked, hoping to lighten the mood.

Tracey gulped. She really didn’t want to say. She sighed as Heidi held her. “Ginny,” Tracey told her softly, clinging to Heidi. “I…have no idea why though. She looked a little mad, I said hi to her and before I knew it she was hexing me.”

"You look beautiful in it." Heidi smiled brightly. Seeing Tracey like this, the tint to her skin from the shower, the wet hair, the clothes, so...raw. She really was beautiful.

Hearing who it was that did it, Heidi tensed and held Tracey a bit tighter. She should have known the second she saw it was a Bat Bogey hex. It was Ginny's signature.

"I...told her what happened at the party." Heidi confessed, immediately feeling guilty. "But I told her not to dare do anything to you." She really wanted to find her best friend and smack some sense into her. She held Tracey protectively. "If I thought she would do this I never would have told her...I'm so sorry."

Tracey blushed as Heidi looked at her. She was giving her…that look. If her mood had been anything what it was, she would have thrown herself at Heidi then and there. But…her mood was a bit sour still, to say the least.

“Oh.” Tracey felt horrible. It was not better than she deserved. “It’s not your fault. I…screwed up badly. She and you have a right to be angry. I…could have ruined everything. I really am sorry,” Tracey said, her voice cracking, as she clung to Heidi.

	"It's not your fault wither. Ginny shouldn't have hexed you." Heidi shook her head. "You know I wouldn't leave you." Holding Tracey tight for a few more minutes, Heidi finally pulled back a bit. Tracey shrugged, unconvinced. She still felt terribly guilty. Though, there were still some conflicting emotions there regarding what she and Sara had done. Though, she would never give voice to them; ever.

“We can,” she told Heidi. Letting herself be lead, Tracey hung her head in shame. “Yeah is everything going so sadly?” she asked, choking on her words, as they walked.

Arriving in her room, Tracey flung herself on the bed and buried her face in the pillow. The smell of Heidi made her feel better; it was very comforting. “Why did we ever leave your house?” she asked with a sardonic laugh that was muffled by the pillow.

"Alright." Lacing her fingers with Tracey, Heidi lead her back to the room, thankful for the unusually deserted hallway.

"It'll get better, I promise." Heidi tried to sooth her girlfriend. "People just...don't understand, I guess."

Chuckling as Tracey curled up with her pillow, Heidi moved to sit on her bed as well, leaning her back against the headboard. "I wish we didn't have to, but then you'd have to live with my parents." she chuckled.

Tracey really hoped it would getter better. She had been miserable at school before but never anything like what she was currently experiencing. If it wasn’t for Heidi, Tracey really had no idea how she could handle it.

“I guess,” Tracey conceded. She was trying not to mope but it was hard. Feeling Heidi’s hand stroking her back, Tracey began to feel a little better. She unburied her face from the pillow and rested her cheek on it so she could look at Heidi.

“As awful as it is, I think your parents treated me better than a lot of people around here lately,” Tracey said with a bitter laugh.

“This is bullocks,” she sighed. “I was just starting to like Ginny too. Now…this.” Tracey felt awful about the whole thing. “Do you think…you can talk to her and we can get past this?” It would be awful if one of Heidi’s best friends hated her and kept hexing her!

Heidi hated seeing her girlfriend like this. She wished that people would aim more of their crueler pranks and snides on her rather than Tracey. She could handle them better. But it seemed that they liked to pick on the weaker link. She hated that.

Continuing to stroke Tracey's back soothingly, Heidi smiled gently down at the blonde as she looked up to her.

"My parents are more subtle in their cruelties than school kids." Heidi shrugged, knowing that her parents could be equally as cruel if they wanted to be.

"I'll talk to her." Heidi assured. She knew how irrational Ginny could be sometimes. "Gin has a hard time controlling her emotions sometimes and she's rather protective. She'll get over it. Trust me, I've been on the receiving end of a few of her Bat Bogey hexes too." she chuckled.

“I guess,” Tracey conceded again. “It’d take that over what’s been going on though.” She really had no idea what she had done to earn all the animosity she was getting. Heidi was a lesbian too, why weren’t they picking on her? Not that she wanted that…

Tracey laughed. “She has? How do you deal with a friend who might hex you at any moment and be fine a few days later?” She smirked at Heidi. “Ginny might have made a good Slytherin. Though, I think I’ll keep that to myself so I don’t get hexed again.”

“When…do you think you could talk to her?” Tracey really wanted to get this all behind her. Ginny and Katie were some of the only friends she had. She really wanted to smooth things over with Ginny. “Or…do you think I should try to?”

Heidi almost felt guilty that Tracey was being harassed so much. She wanted them to harass her but they wouldn't. Maybe it was because Tracey was weaker, or quieter. Or because Heidi was more popular or a quidditch captain. It didn't matter to Heidi, she hated what was happening.

"It's just how Gin is." Heidi shrugged. "She has a bit of spunk. It's just something that comes with the territory."

"Today, maybe. As soon as I can." Heidi nodded, wanting to smooth things over as well. "I think maybe you should talk to her too, but with me there." she wasn't just going to leave Tracey to an upset Ginny.

Tracey nodded. “Well…” She trailed off as she thought. “Maybe you can talk to her first and if things go well we can do something with her or her and Katie in the next couple days?” she suggested.

She sighed in exasperation. “I was actually going to the library for an assignment and I need to go back there,” Tracey announced. She bit her lip nervously. “Can I…come back tonight?” she asked Heidi shyly.

They still hadn’t…been close since her mistake with Sara. She was dying to be close to Heidi not so much because she was randy but she needed that intimacy. Reaching up, she lightly stroked the “spot” behind Heidi’s ear before pulling away and smiling.

“I’ve…been thinking about you a lot the last couple days,” she confessed.

"That sounds like a good plan." Heidi nodded. "What should we do? A double date or something?"

Hearing where Tracey needed to go, Heidi nodded again in understanding. At the other question, she smiled softly. "Of course."

Heidi knew that the lack of...intimacy between them since the happenings with Sara were affecting both of them. BUt she wanted to be close to Tracey now and she could tell that Tracey needed it. As Tracey stroked her own spot, Heidi made a low, pleased sound, a kin to a purr. But Heidi Macavoy, Hufflepuff quidditch captain and extraordinaire did not purr. Well, maybe a little.

"You have?" She said lightly, grinning as Tracey withdrew her hand.

"Something like that," Tracey responded. "Not sure if it needs to be a formal double date but it could be or we could just hang out."

Tracey smiled happily. "I can't wait for tonight then. I just can't let Snape catch me out. He told me not to stay outside the dorm anymore." She rolled her eyes.

She loved the sound Heidi made. Tracey needed to stop or she knew she'd never leave. "I have. I was thinking about something that happened at your house, in your room. It gave me an idea," Tracey said cryptically hoping to make her anxious for that night.

Getting up, she gathered up her bag. "I'll see you tonight, all right?" Leaning in, she gave her a soft loving kiss. "Thanks." She gave Heidi a soft smile. "Good luck with Ginny," she called over her shoulder as she left.

"Snape can sod off." Heidi shrugged. It was clear that Snape was not her favorite professor.

Raising an eyebrow, Heidi began to wonder what Tracey was talking about, but she figured she would find out that night so she let it go.

"Hey wait." Heidi said and sat up and moved to Tracey at the door. Gripping the girl's waist, Heidi kissed her gently on the lips one more time. "You really do look sexy in those clothes." she whispered before letting her go.

Once Tracey was gone, Heidi Grabbed her sweater and threw it on over ehr messy blouse and made her way to find Ginny, a stern look on her face.

Walking down the halls, Heidi had a good idea where the redhead was. Gryffindor had the pitch today. As she turned the corner leading to the pitch, she spotted Ginny with an equally pissy look on her face. "Ginny." She called firmly.

Ginny was trudging along through the snow. Her hair was in a ponytail and her cheeks were red from the cold and wind. Her jaw was tight and her posture was slumped. She looked over to see Heidi. She stopped but didn't walk over immediately.

With a sigh, she heaved her shoulders and walked out with her crimson robe swirling behind her. She stopped a little bit away from Heidi and stood obstinately. "She tattled on me, huh?" Ginny huffed angrily.

"Did she tell you what she did to deserve it?"

Heidi kept her glare on Ginny as the younger girl approached. It took all of Ginny's few words or her first question before she was set into action.

Having always had nothing but the tensest and heaviest of emotions between the two of their firey spirits, Heidi grabbed the front of Ginny's robes and quickly and deftly pressed her against the wall, still gripping her clothes tight. It was a move that she had used on Ginny many times before, only it was always followed with an equally as heated kiss. Now it was followed with a fuming glare, though their faces were still the same close distance as the kiss.

"What the bloody hell were you thinking?" Heidi growled, the famous temper of her irish blood that she usually kept under lock and key boiling up as she wanted to protect Tracey.

"You mean the party and her with Sara? I knew. And even if I didn't, it still doesn't give you any right to hex my girlfriend." her body was still all but pressed against Ginny as she kept the girl pinned to the wall, their faces still close. And as always, there was that never-ending tension between them.
