The quietness of the shop over the past couple days was a double edged sword. After the crazed crowds of Christmas and New Years, he was relieved to have a few moments where he could actually hear himself think. It was an important thing, hearing one's own thoughts. Particularly when the genius of them was what kept the products coming. The other side of the sound, however, was the fact that George was dreadfully bored and it was never a good thing when George Weasley was bored. Bad things tended to happen when he was bored. The last time he'd been like this, it had resulted in having the entire back room renovated. He hadn't meant to combine an acceleration charm to an entire crate of fireworks and he certainly hadn't meant to create large holes and burn marks in the walls when they'd gone off. It had simply been a series of disastrously unfortunate events.
Deciding that another renovation project was not something he wanted to do in the near future, he'd parked himself behind the counter. Under normal circumstances, he would have been locked away in his lab working on some new stuff, but that wasn't an option that afternoon. Given that it was Sunday, George had the shop to himself. He always covered the Sunday shifts so everyone else could have at least part of the weekend to themselves. So unless he closed up his shop, which wasn't exactly a good business practice, he wasn't going anywhere.
With nothing left to do, he'd grabbed a scrap piece of paper and started to doodle. What had started out as plans for a possible new product quickly turned into two blokes riding a platypus ... with George having no idea as to how it happened.
