Narrative: The Drake Brothers
Who: Bobby and Ronnie Drake
When: February 8; early morning
Where: The FOH crib
What: Things never turn out good when your younger brother, who hates the fact that you're a mutant and outed you and your friends to the police, has become part of the very organization out to rid the world of mutants. It's even worse when said younger brother seems to have finally gone off the deep end and doesn't seem at all phased about causing plenty of pain and injury to his older brother.
Bobby had been in and out since getting shot in the shoulder despite having it haphazardly wrapped and tended to. The bullet had been left lodged between bones and the wound, itself, hadn't been cleaned properly. It was no wonder his entire arm was aching and being completely passed out was better than being awake.
But they were rarely given any time to actually sleep or even attempt to try and get comfortable with their wounds. There weren't many times in Bobby's life that he was genuinely afraid for his life or the life of his friends, but this was certainly one of them. Especially when they would bring John back from his session and the expression on his face made it obvious just how cold-blooded and cruel these people were.
He never looked Rogue in the face, though, whenever they brought her back. He knew if he did, he would be forcing himself to his feet and attempting to do something to fight back, which would only cause more problems for all three of them. They had enough problems. He didn't need to cause anymore. He was hoping they wouldn't get any worse until it was his turn, per say.
Whatever room he was in was cold, damp and smelled between a mixture of mold, sweat, burnt flesh and decay. His hands had been secured behind his back, which made his arm ache to the point of going numb from the shoulder wound. He was almost wishing the would either fix it or cut his arm off. Both would be a blessing, though, so he knew neither would ever happen here. He tried to shift his position, trying to take some of the strain from his arm, but nothing seemed to help. One way just made it worse and another way caused him to lose all feeling in his arm.
"Can't get comfortable, Bobby?"
Bobby opened one eye only to be met with an almost blindingly bright light hanging in front of him. The rest of the room was dark, so it was hard to see who was in the room, but he knew that voice. "...What the hell, Ronnie?" That's all he wanted to know. His reasons, before, didn't make any sense and it was clear he was just upset, but there had to be a better reason. Something deeper than just being put off by him having mutant abilities. It wasn't as if his parents didn't love them both equally. It wasn't his fault that his parents weren't accepting of his gift. It couldn't just get rid of it. He had hoped, if Ronnie hadn't called the police, that the idea would grow on his parents. He wasn't particularly dangerous or anything.
"Don't play stupid, Bobby. You know why. You come home after being gone to some snobby boarding school only to tell Mom and Dad that you were at a school for freaks. Dangerous freaks, too. Your friends? Come on, Bobby. You saw what the Pyro dude did! And the chick? She's just weird." Bobby closed his eye tightly again as the light got a bit brighter and turned his head down. He finally opened his eyes again to stare at the wet and dirty concrete floor and shook his head. "They weren't there to hurt any one, Ronnie. None of us were. We were looking for help."
There was quick movement and the next thing Bobby knew was his brother was pressing his fingers against the messily wrapped gunshot wound. Bobby bit down, gritting his teeth so hard that his jaw was already aching. He wouldn't show his pain. He refused to. He wouldn't give Ronnie the satisfaction. The pressure caused new blood to begin seeping out against the bandages and began running down his arm. "Help!? You came home to ask us for help when you were running from the law?!" "We weren't running from the law!" Bobby managed to get out through his clenched jaw. "Whatever! Don't lie! Mutants were all over the news!" Bobby took a deep breath and did his best to pull his shoulder away from his brother and let out a grunt of pain when he did.
"Does it hurt? It should. You hurt Mom, Bobby and you broke Dad. They sent me in for testing to see if I was infected with this mutant stuff! Do you know how many trips to the hospital that was? How much money they wasted?!" Ronnie growled and gave Bobby two hard kicks to each leg. "It's a good thing I didn't turn out like you, bro. Probably would have killed myself." Bobby let out another groan of pain and shook his head, turning his head up to look at his younger brother.
"Would have...been better off...then you are...now." Ronnie stood up from where he had been leaning over his brother. Balling his hands in to tight fists, he took a swing and then another swing and another, each punch landing in Bobby's shoulders or face or stomach.
"We'll just," Punch. "See who's," Punch. "Better of now." Punch.
And it continued for what seemed like hours until Bobby was taken back to the cell that held him, Rogue and John. Face bruised, swollen and nose bleeding and broken, he laid on the floor. Letting himself slip in and out of any form of consciousness, it was better than being awake and in pain.
