WHO: Robbie Stebbins and Alicia Spinnet
WHEN: BACKDATED to Friday, 2nd September, early evening
WHERE: Park in Muggle London
WHAT: Running to work off chocolate, stretch legs, to catch up
Summer was definitely on it's way out, the sun setting much sooner in the day, moths and midges emerging to flutter around the street lamps that one by one lit up as the sky darkened. The park still bustled though, Muggles making the most of the last of the season. Schoolchildren kicked footballs around on the grass before their school terms began the following Monday, families gathered up their picnic baskets and made for home, friends cycled along the path that circled the park.
As Robbie waited for Alicia to arrive, he watched the peace around him with a strange sort of detachedness. The scene before him was a stark contrast to the Wizarding World he lived in; fear and worry lining the faces of the citizens he saw at work and passed in Diagon Alley, as opposed to the cheerful and relaxed expressions these Muggles had. They knew nothing of the assassinations in his world, the murderous escaped prisoners, the violent Purists that sought to take power just that morning. All happening under their noses.
He breathed a sigh. It was calming though, being here, out of the office, breathing some fresh air and having the time to enjoy it for once. His Ministry bodyguards lurked at a distance, but instead of feeling claustrophobic from being so closely watched, it gave him a sense of safety and comfort. For an hour or so, he'd be able to run with his friend and escape for a little while, and he appreciated that.
