who: Emma and Kurt
when: Friday morning
where: Frost's office
what: Some women love to play matchmaker. Emma Frost likes to play life ruiner.

Emma Frost was prepared for most eventualities and that was usually because she tried to exert a level of control in all situations. She wasn't one for surprises and her telepathy tended to ensure she didn't have to face them too often - at least without a plan or her game face on. Emma now had calculated a move that she had bounced around in the back of her head for months now, ever since her mind-wipe attempt on Raven Darkholme. There was some information she had gleamed that she had considered telling one of the students to use as a distraction against her. At the time, Emma decided against it because she wasn't up for being killed by the woman. Yet peace had happened for weeks and there was a new stake in the game: their training squads. Emma had to ensure hers came out on top and if this revelation affected both a student on one squad and the adviser of another, perhaps that could tip a domino that would one day work to her advantage.

Doing this right before a challenge would have been the perfect opportunity, but Emma Frost was covering her hide in case Mystique did plan retaliation. Easier to claim she was acting in the student's best interest when it was right after one. She had contacted Kurt in the early hours of the day, inviting him to her office at his earliest convenience. Pouring two glasses of her special blend of tea into some fine china in preparation, Emma smiled at her work. Everything was perfectly set up and Kurt with his abilities tended to never be late - an aspect Emma Frost loved. She took pause when she felt a familiar presence approaching. Come in, Mr. Wagner.

Kurt had been a little surprised to say the least when he'd gotten a message from Ms. Frost requesting his presence in her office. His first instinct was to assume that he was in trouble but he couldn't think of anything he had done recently to justify that hypothesis. That didn't stop him from wracking his brain as he made his way downstairs to the office however. Maybe this had something do with his fake-dating Kitty to get Doreen to leave him alone? God, he hoped not. That would be extremely awkward.

He teleported to just outside the office door and was raising his hand to knock when Emma's voice suddenly floated through his mind and invited him in. No matter how long he'd been around telepaths at the school it was still always a little unnerving to hear a voice in your head when you weren't expecting it. He let himself into the office and pulled the door shut carefully behind him. "You wanted to see me Ms. Frost?" he said in way of a greeting.

"Yes, Kurt, I did. Please, have a seat." Emma strolled to one side of her desk, gesturing outward toward the pair of chairs situated before her desk. As if her imposing height for a female wasn't bad enough, Emma took to wearing thick heels to help make even the most masculine students feel intimidated in her presence. Simply one in an arsenal of psychological warfare games that Emma waged on everyone. "Would you care for some tea? Freshly made and one of the finest blends to be found from Bolivia of all places."

Before Kurt had even answered, she had already strolled back to her tea seat in the corner. She'd already poured two cups and if he refused then she'd simply drink both herself. It was one of her favorite tastes and she felt it wouldn't be too gluttonous to have a few cups of the stuff herself.

Kurt obediently walked over to the armchair in front of Emma Frost's desk that was often so dreaded by the students, his tail flicking back and forth a little nervously as he plopped down. "Oh, um, alright," he nodded as she offered him a cup of tea, though he made no move to drink it when she set it down before him on the desk.

Her psychological attempts at making Kurt feel small and intimidated were definitely working and he hoped that she would get to the point of the matter quickly so he could head back up to this room. In the mean time, his yellow eyes wandered over the desk and around the office, taking in the lavish furniture and the sparse knick knacks. It was a very nice and neat office, but it lacked the sense of friendliness and approachability than say Dr. McCoy and Mr. Cassidy's offices seemed to have. Or maybe it was just because Kurt hadn't had much interaction with Ms. Frost outside of class and so she still felt a little unfamiliar to him.

Emma Frost bent down slowly and then rose carefully with the two cups of tea. She set one down on the corner of her desk and then strolled a few steps forward to offer Kurt one himself. Perhaps in her shallow, younger years she may have feared Kurt's appearance and the two fingers and a thumb that would reach for the tea. She knew much better now, especially after years of dealing with mutants. She didn't envy his physical mutation, but she wasn't repulsed by it. "You'll enjoy it, I'm sure."

Once the cup was taken, she retrieved her own and took a sip as she traveled around her desk and took a seat at the already rolled out chair. She pivoted it so that she could face Kurt at a slight angle, not wishing to sit directly forward and mislead him into thinking he was in some type of trouble. "There was something I wished to discuss with you, Kurt. Something that understandably is a private matter but I feel may be in your best interest to address." She took another sip. "Your parents, Kurt. Your mother and father. What do you know of them? I'm speaking of your biological ones."

Kurt visibly tensed at Emma's words, the topic completely catching him off guard. "My parents?" he blinked, immediately wondering what had brought this on. He had really never spoken about his family life to anyone around the school though most of the staff and his friends knew that he had been adopted. In all honesty it wasn't a subject he thought about very often anymore unless it was Parent's Day at the school or something and after an entire childhood of wondering he had mostly come to terms with the fact that his biological parents were either dead or would simply remain unknown to him forever.

"I-er. Nothing, really," he replied, shaking his head. "I only know that my mother had abandoned me and then my adoptive mother found me. She always told me that she did not know anything about my parents," he explained though he was fairly sure Ms. Frost already knew as much from his file. "Why do you ask?" he ventured to ask, peering up at her.

Emma had gone through all of the student's files and had even done her own telepathic research on the few that caught her interest. While Kurt originally hadn't been among their number, Emma was taking a more active interest in him now that she had gleamed some information from Raven Darkholme's mind. "Interesting. And I'm sure your adoptive mother spoke the truth," Emma insisted, especially since she now knew who Kurt's biological mother was.

"I ask because it's recently come to my attention that there may be new information on the matter you may find useful. I'm uncertain if you've ever tried to find your biological parents, considering the lack of leads to follow." Emma Frost had a soft smile, one that may have looked like compassion but was really amusement she was having trouble making. "The new teacher, Ms. Raven Darkholme? I've learned she has information on the matter you might find useful. When I learned she had yet to come to you, I thought I would take matters into my own hands."

"Was?" Kurt said, eyes wide at this revelation. He shifted uncomfortably in his seat as Emma told him that Ms. Darkholme apparently knew something about his biological family. "I don't understand...Why would she not tell me if she knew something about my parents?" he asked Emma, his brows furrowing at the thought. Had she been hiding something from him this entire time?

Of course Kurt had realized early on when Ms. Darkholme showed up at the school that the two shared a common physicality, but he just as quickly pushed aside any notions about whether or not they could possibly be related. After all, Kurt was quite convinced that if that were indeed the case that Ms. Darkholme would have informed him immediately. If his mother was still alive somewhere, wouldn't she want to find him too?

"Why are you telling me this? What should I do?" he asked anxiously, completely oblivious to any ulterior motives that Emma had.

If only Kurt knew just how much of a physicality Raven and Kurt shared. If everything went according to plan, Kurt would be brave enough to confront the other women and then he'd learn the full extant of the truth. While she could tell Kurt right now and spoil the surprise, what fun was that? It didn't leave Raven in the tricky situation she deserved to be in for what she had done - and Emma this time wasn't referring to the trespasses the two women liked to make against each other in their rivalry.

"You should speak with her. That's my answer to all of yours questions," Emma admitted, crossing her legs. "This is, again, not my information I should truly be said. I have spoken to much, but you deserve to learn the truth. Why she's keeping this information from you, only she knows."

Kurt felt that Emma knew much more than she was letting on, but he knew better than to push his luck with her, despite the fact that he really wished she would just fill him in. He couldn't simply go and speak with Ms. Darkholme now, he was far too on edge. He needed a little time to try and clear his head before he confronted her, a prospect which was all ready tying his stomach into knots. He would definitely go and hash things out with her however. He wasn't a confrontational person, but he also wasn't afraid to stand up for himself or do what needed to be done either. Besides, there was no way he could let this go without getting an explanation first.

"Thank you Ms. Frost. I have to go," he mumbled before he vanished from his seat on the armchair. He teleported up to the roof so that he could consider Ms. Frost's information in private.

"I understand, Kurt. I apologize that I cannot be more helpful, but this is something that you must take up with her." Emma's faint smile was still there. She sat up in her chair and set her tea down as Kurt mentioned that he needed to prepare to leave. "If you ever need to talk - Lord!" Emma reeled back in her seat, the stench of brimstone fowling up her office. Emma sighed, frowning at the smell. Well this was just great. So much for her good deed for the day! As if she needed that smell in her office to make the other students think she really was the devil.
