RP: The Literacy Flourishes Charity Gala

What: The Literacy Flourishes charity gala and celebrity date auction.

Where: Fairgrounds outside Cardiff

LAYOUT OF THE GALA

Dining/seating There are 100 tables configured in a U-shape around a large dancefloor/stage.

Stage/dance floor The dance floor shrinks during presentations and the celebrity auction and expands during dinner and dancing.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

6:00 Welcome Pansy Nott welcomes all attendees, goes over the schedule for the evening, and explains the mission of the charity.

6:30 Dinner A four course meal appears intermittently over the half hour.

7:00 Orchestra/Dancing As the last course--dessert--is served, the orchestra picks up and the dance floor expands for dancing.

7:30 Celebrity Auction The music dims to a soft accent as Pansy Nott and Demo Finnigan-Thomas take the stage to begin the celebrity date auction.

8:30 Concert/Dancing Several musical guests begin performing, kicked off with a duet featuring Wes Carlisle and Violet Nott, and the dance floor expands.

10:00 Function Ends Pansy Nott takes the stage to announce the end of the silent auction. Results will be tallied and winners will receive their goods by 13 July. She announces the end of the gala, though the concert continues until midnight.

CELEBRITY AUCTION

Beau Rosier "To kick off our celebrity date auction is our favorite child actor all grown up! Beau Rosier first caught our eye as a cheeky lad on WeeVee's Merlin-under-Hangtree, but he's certainly proved himself a man of many talents, coming in second last year in the reality competition Let's Dance. I know I can't wait to see what role he takes on next! And so, I'd love to cast the opening bid at thirty galleons..."

Blaise Zabini "Our next celebrity hardly needs an introduction, but I do so love talking about him. Blaise Zabini, owner and editor of the Daily Prophet and perpetual bachelor, has set many a heart a-flutter, though none have managed to usurp the love he has for the paper. Win the bid for a date with him, and perhaps you'll have that special something he can't resist..."

Gareth Wagtail "Although our next celebrity is best known for a drunken fly over a muggle village last winter, Gareth Wagtail is a fantastic retired Chaser and current trainer for the Montrose Magpies. Outbid everyone else for a date with him, and I'd bet you'll be in for a wild ride..."

Gavin Montgomery "The Montrose Magpies have taken the league by storm this season with the help of our next celebrity. Gavin Montgomery, one of the best Beaters we've seen on the pitch since Cooper Reynolds' days on a broom, has quite the reputation of disappointing anyone who wants to snare his attention for more than a night, but just imagine all that intensity focused on only you for that single night! Who will start the bidding..."

Ginny Weasley "Everyone knows our favorite red-headed spitfire war hero! Ginny Weasley is Harpies Chaser turned Daily Prophet sports writer and editor, but don't be fooled. A desk job has done nothing to tame the spunk out of her, and a little birdie tells me she's hoping you lovely ladies will join in the bidding for a date with her..."

Harry Potter "I think you'll all agree that heartbroken is not a good look for our most famous of celebrities. Harry Potter, Hogwarts Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, is single and ready to mingle again--at least for a good cause. So ladies, here he is, get him with the winning bid..."

Rachel Turpin-Davies "Our next celebrity is up and coming Holyhead Harpies Chaser, Rachel Turpin-Davis. Quick as a snitch with an instinct for banter, the only thing this flying ace chases is the Quaffle, so you better keep up, cause she won't be chasing you..."

Thad Nott "We do love our Magpies, don't we? Next up is Montrose Magpies Seeker, and my second son, Thad Nott. I know, I know, him being my son doesn't make him famous, but his impressive flying and seeking certainly does! Don't let his bachelor reputation fool you, his dad and I have raised him to appreciate and value relationships, and don't those usually start with a first date? Who will start the bidding..."

Victoire Weasley "If you find it almost impossible to look away from our next stunning celebrity, that's because Victoire Weasley is part veela via the Delacour family and a world-renowned fashion model. Although she enjoys the jet set life, she's no Beauxbaton airhead. Fluent in several languages and quick-witted, you'll think you're in love by the end of the night..."

Wes Carlisle "Our final celebrity of the night has been charming us through the radio and on the stage for a decade. Wes Carlisle relishes sensuality and luxury, and is sure to show the woman--or man--who wins a date with him the best of times. I'm told there may even be a private concert in it for the lucky bidder. And if you're particularly clever, maybe you'll get a sneak peak at this new project Wes has hinted at..."

Tina was having the best night. She had arrived with Miguel, enjoyed dinner with the family, and enjoyed dancing with Miguel. It was a lot of people time for Tina however, and so by the time Wes and Violet were hitting the stage, she was needing a break. She had whispered to Miguel that she was going to be stepping away, before she slipped away to get a glass of water from the bar.

To her relief, she saw her cousin was there as well. Once she had placed her order for her water, she then tapped Clary on the shoulder. "You look gorgeous!" she called out, giving her cousin a wide and toothy smile that looked just like her mother's. She lifted her own skirt a smidge to show her cousin. "We had similar ideas, flowers," she said happily, pointing out the little design on her dress.

Clary turned around and smiled warmly, reaching out to lightly embrace the other woman. "You do too! So lovely." More fashionable than hers, but much like her mother Quin, Clary tended towards a bit more modest in her clothing choices.

"Of course you went flowers," she teased lightly. "So are you enjoying yourself?" She had seen her there with Miguel, of course. But she wasn't going to say anything about that, at least not right now.

Clary was calming in ways that most people weren't, she reminded Tina a lot of Liam in that way. They both helped to make her feel more grounded when she was overwhelmed, and boy was she overwhelmed tonight. Miguel and she had just decided that they would be getting married, it was enough to overwhelm someone without the anxiety Tina had.

"I could say the same about you," she teased, unable to help herself as she reached out to touch a flower near the other woman's middle. "I am very much enjoying myself, just a little..." Her cheeks flushed, just enough to be noticed. "Overwhelmed is an understatement," she admitted. "Are you? Have you gotten to dance at all?" Tina absolutely enjoyed dancing and Miguel was hands down her favorite dance partner.

"I can't help it, I always fall for the flowers," she replied with a little laugh as she looked down at her own dress. It really was pretty, she'd fallen in love with it. Though it wasn't the 'done' thing, she would probably wear it again some time in the future.

"Overwhelmed?" she prompted, her head tilting in that way encouraged people to tell her more. She never considered herself good with people, she was too shy, but she was so nice and was such a good listener.

"I danced a couple of times," she said, hedging, knowing that family didn't really count, but no one else had asked her, probably because there were just so many attractive people around, and she blended in to the background.

There was a moment that she debated if she should tell Clary, she was certain that she could trust Clary. Hazel eyes watched her cousin for a moment, excitement sparkling in them, and then she just nodded her head. "Very overwhelmed," she admitted with a lovesick smile.

Mentions of Clary dancing a couple of times excited Tina, was her cousin out meeting people too? It was impolite to ask, so instead she gently bumped her hip against Clary's. "How did you enjoy the concert? The first bit at least?" she asked curiously, already thinking about taking her cousin to another concert if she enjoyed it, maybe they could make a family trip with just the cousins.

Oh dear. Clary was not clairvoyant, but she recognized the lovelorn smile on Tina's face and had a feeling in the pit of her stomach that it wasn't actually a good thing. It wasn't even that she didn't like Miguel. He seemed like a pretty good guy, cheating aside. He'd at least admitted it and been sorry. But there was just something about the two of them together that didn't really feel great to her, especially a second time. They seemed like they didn't match quite right.

"I enjoyed it all right," she said. "It was getting to be a bit much, so I came over here to cool down and get away from all the people." They weren't exactly alone here, but the press of people was a lot less and she could breathe. She'd probably spend all day tomorrow alone though, recharging from the drain of being around so many people tonight.

"You'll have to be sure to save me a dance as well," she said happily, bringing her glass to her lips for a quick sip. "Mm, I got to dance with Liam. He found me earlier, while I was waiting for Miguel to join me. It was nice, we caught up a little," she did her best to sound nonchalant, it made her heart race just remembering their dance. He wasn't a terribly good dancer, but he had at least been able to stay with the music.

"You know, I think I saw Aldrich here too," she admitted, her hazel eyes moving to the crowd. She was wondering if she'd be able to find Liam in the crowd. "I think he's here with work."

"Are you sure you'll have time?" she said lightly, teasingly. "I've seen you attached to Miguel." She was trying, so hard, to be more positive about the relationship. She didn't want Tina upset with her if she were to express any of her qualms. She hated people being upset at her.

"Oh yeah? How's Liam doing?" she asked with interest.

"Yes, I saw him, he was with his family," Clary said. She'd been peeople watching most of the night, and one thing she could say about these events is how great the people watching was. She'd have plenty to think about while at work this next week.

"I hope so," she admitted, a nervous laugh slipping from her at the mention of Miguel. Once again, she debated telling Clary that they were engaged, and she came so close to doing so. Until Liam was mentioned. "He's doing really well, I think he might be here with his girlfriend?" It was definitely more of a question, she hadn't asked about his date. It had been a rather strange interaction, not their normal, yet it hadn't felt weird. Those were thoughts for another time.

Tina wondered just what Clary had noticed throughout the night, she always seemed to know things. It was rude to ask, she settled on, and she glanced around the room for her fiance. "I should probably find Miguel again, I can't leave him alone with mum for too long. She's been roasting him," she said with a slightly dramatic sigh. "He really meant it, it was an accident. I hope she can see that he really loves me..." They would be married, she couldn't wait to be married to him.

Clary wrinkled her nose ever so slightly. "They seem like such an odd couple," she admitted without Tina having to ask. It gave her the same bit of side eye that Tina and Miguel did, honestly, the sense that the two just didn't quite fit. But what did she actually know, she admonished herself.

She giggled slightly. "Aww, Aunt Z roasting your boyfriend," she teased, settlign on lightness and the most appropriate thing until she got used to those two being together again. She hated feeling like a judgmental bitch. "I supposed a rescue should be in order, then. Unless you want to let him squirm for just a bit."

A very strange feeling made her chest flutter when she said that, and Tina just nodded her head. "I... I don't know much about them, I'll admit. He seems happy," she said the last part so softly, her cheeks feeling on fire, as she took a deep breath.

Truth be told, Tina thought it was more than just roasting. She didn't want to drag her cousin between them however, and so she just gave her cousin a smile. "Enjoy a dance for me," she said, before she started to head off in the direction she had last seen Miguel. She really hoped that she found him before her mother did, she didn't want to deal with that again.
