CELEBRITY AUCTION

Bid
Beau Rosier "To kick off our celebrity date auction is our favorite child actor all grown up! Beau Rosier first caught our eye as a cheeky lad on WeeVee's Merlin-under-Hangtree, but he's certainly proved himself a man of many talents, coming in second last year in the reality competition Let's Dance. I know I can't wait to see what role he takes on next! And so, I'd love to cast the opening bid at thirty galleons..."
Blaise Zabini "Our next celebrity hardly needs an introduction, but I do so love talking about him. Blaise Zabini, owner and editor of the Daily Prophet and perpetual bachelor, has set many a heart a-flutter, though none have managed to usurp the love he has for the paper. Win the bid for a date with him, and perhaps you'll have that special something he can't resist..."
Gareth Wagtail "Although our next celebrity is best known for a drunken fly over a muggle village last winter, Gareth Wagtail is a fantastic retired Chaser and current trainer for the Montrose Magpies. Outbid everyone else for a date with him, and I'd bet you'll be in for a wild ride..."
Gavin Montgomery "The Montrose Magpies have taken the league by storm this season with the help of our next celebrity. Gavin Montgomery, one of the best Beaters we've seen on the pitch since Cooper Reynolds' days on a broom, has quite the reputation of disappointing anyone who wants to snare his attention for more than a night, but just imagine all that intensity focused on only you for that single night! Who will start the bidding..."
Ginny Weasley "Everyone knows our favorite red-headed spitfire war hero! Ginny Weasley is Harpies Chaser turned Daily Prophet sports writer and editor, but don't be fooled. A desk job has done nothing to tame the spunk out of her, and a little birdie tells me she's hoping you lovely ladies will join in the bidding for a date with her..."
Harry Potter "I think you'll all agree that heartbroken is not a good look for our most famous of celebrities. Harry Potter, Hogwarts Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, is single and ready to mingle again--at least for a good cause. So ladies, here he is, get him with the winning bid..."
Rachel Turpin-Davies "Our next celebrity is up and coming Holyhead Harpies Chaser, Rachel Turpin-Davis. Quick as a snitch with an instinct for banter, the only thing this flying ace chases is the Quaffle, so you better keep up, cause she won't be chasing you..."
Thad Nott "We do love our Magpies, don't we? Next up is Montrose Magpies Seeker, and my second son, Thad Nott. I know, I know, him being my son doesn't make him famous, but his impressive flying and seeking certainly does! Don't let his bachelor reputation fool you, his dad and I have raised him to appreciate and value relationships, and don't those usually start with a first date? Who will start the bidding..."
Victoire Weasley "If you find it almost impossible to look away from our next stunning celebrity, that's because Victoire Weasley is part veela via the Delacour family and a world-renowned fashion model. Although she enjoys the jet set life, she's no Beauxbaton airhead. Fluent in several languages and quick-witted, you'll think you're in love by the end of the night..."
Wes Carlisle "Our final celebrity of the night has been charming us through the radio and on the stage for a decade. Wes Carlisle relishes sensuality and luxury, and is sure to show the woman--or man--who wins a date with him the best of times. I'm told there may even be a private concert in it for the lucky bidder. And if you're particularly clever, maybe you'll get a sneak peak at this new project Wes has hinted at..."

Lucy & Jaimeson - 7PM

The orchestra had just started up, and Jaimeson’s relief had come to relieve him moments later. He had wandered away to get himself water, and while on the way he caught sight of her again. He had first noticed her when she had arrived, one of the perks of the job. He was supposed to pay attention to who was coming and going.

Lucy looked absolutely stunning in that red dress, giving him ideas about asking to unwrap her. Now that he found himself with a few free moments, what could it hurt to ask her to dance?

Jaimeson made his way through the crowd to her, all thoughts of a drink gone. “Would you care to dance?” he asked, giving her one of his wide toothy smiles that he enjoyed sneaking at work. It was good to see her technically outside of the office.

Although she'd thought she was in love with the dress she'd sent Molly a picture of last week, Lucy was relieved when she'd found her true dream dress before her sister had gotten to making her new dress, and they were able to change it to the new design in time. Her dress was a little less modest at the chest than she typically preferred, but she absolutely loved the fully bodied skirt and the shape of the open back. She'd even got her hair styled in an updo that left her back exposed in just the right way. And even better? She didn't have to work tonight, which meant she could fully enjoy dressing up to this degree, thanks to her dad for buying their little family tickets to the event.

Lucy was a little surprised when anyone came up to ask her to dance so early in the evening, but she was even more surprised when she saw who it was. Jaimeson hadn't been with the Minister's protection unit for that long, but as part of the Minister's PR team, Lucy was well aware of all the staff directly involved with the Minister. It was also difficult not to notice him since he always made it a habit to catch her eye at work, throwing flirtatious expressions her way and such. He was a bit over the top for her preference, and she often found herself rolling her eyes at him.

"You've been relieved already?" she asked, surprised, though perhaps he'd been on the day shift already and would have been off around this time even without the gala going on. It occurred to her that she'd not answered his question, but she wanted to know the answer to hers first.

Lucy's immediate question caught Jaimeson off guard, causing him to laugh before he could stop himself. "For long enough to dance with a beautiful woman," he said easily, that smile only growing. It wasn't safe to announce just how long, let alone what his shift was. It would leave far too many security problems, he knew he was already creating a small one asking her to dance.

"You didn't answer my question," he pointed out, resisting the urge to point out that the longer she stalled, the less time he would have. There was this odd feeling that he'd enjoy wasting his time talking to her, even if this was their first time being able to have a conversation outside of work.

Oh, he was suave, wasn't he? It didn't particularly surprise Lucy, but it did make her automatically contrary. Men who were used to getting their way, to women simpering over them, were just the sort Lucy found it easiest to fall into bed with. Which could get complicated when the man in question was a coworker.

"You're right, I didn't," she agreed, looking at him shrewdly, letting a few more beats pass before she stepped closer to him, holding out her hand. "But sure, you can have one dance."

Jaimeson's brows perked during her moment of contemplation, waiting to see what she was going to say. He was even starting to expect to be turned down, until she stepped closer, and he felt a rush of relief. "I'm honored," he said, taking her hand in his, before leading her out to the dance floor.

He started to lead Lucy in an easy waltz, a skill he had picked up from his grandmother. He had enjoyed learning to dance with her in the kitchen when she would watch him. "The Nott's know what they are doing, the Minister is impressed with the gala. I think I'm most surprised by the silent auction, that journal of Newt Scamander's..." He gave a low whistle, shaking his head. "I might have to put in a bid. Did anything catch your eye?"

Lucy had approached dancing as she had most things in her life: with a dedication to mastering the skill and practice to ensure she didn't lose the ease of it. And so, as he swept her up into a waltz, she was relieved when it was clear he knew what he was doing and that she wouldn't have to lead while pretending to follow. That was always so bloody tedious!

"It does seem well done so far," she conceded, "but I'll reserve my judgement until after the celebrity date auction." Because there were a couple that she would have interest in bidding on if she had enough money to do so. "Oh certainly, but a PR apprentice hardly makes enough to throw such crazy amounts of galleons at a single item or experience," she pointed out, ever practical, though she didn't admit that her father had paid for her ticket to the event.

They moved effortlessly to the music, Jaimeson thrilled to discover that she knew what she was doing. He hoped tonight be full of more pleasant surprises.

"What's the most ridiculous thing you've spent galleons on?" he asked curiously, already trying to figure out how to work in asking her out on a date. Maybe he could get some ideas as to where to take her.

Snorting rather inelegantly at his question, and quite without her permission at that, Lucy's brows shot up as she looked up at Jaimeson. "I don't spend my money frivolously," she answered shortly. And even if she did, it wasn't any of his business.

"What about you? Most ridiculous purchase?" she tossed the question back at him, thinking it was only fair he own up to his own answer since he'd decided it was appropriate to ask her in the first place.

Jaimeson had a thing for difficult women, a laugh slipping from him when she was so short with him. He didn't even think twice when she asked about his most ridiculous purchase. "That'd probably have to be what was supposed to be an Occamy egg for a woman I was dating at the time," he said this with a laugh, unable to help himself. The entire situation had been so stressful at the time, but now he laughed before he got to the punch line.

"Turned out to be a painted ostrich egg," he admitted then, a sheepish smile gracing his full lips. "Dumbest thing I've ever done, I think the ostrich got a good home though..." At least he hoped.

How in the bleeding hell had he managed to get on the protection unit for the bleeding Minister of Magic when he'd obviously had such shady stories? She knew how thorough the background checks were for those who worked so closely with the Minister, so perhaps he was lying. Or he hadn't been caught, a soft voice whispered in her head that sounded awfully like her Uncle George.

"Hmm, somehow I have my doubts that it's the dumbest thing you've done," she accused lightly, though she didn't really expect him to share any further. But she'd agreed to a dance with him, and she would see the dance through.

"You've got such confidence in me," he teased, unable to help the eye roll. It was likely far from the dumbest thing he had done, but that hadn't really been the question, had it?

Another turn around the dance floor, and Jaimeson knew the song was going to be coming to an end. He knew less about her than he had before their dance, but at least he had spoken with her. It wasn't a good thing, but it also wasn't the worst.

The song reached it's end, just as his watch made a low beep. The warning that he needed to head back to the Minister. "Thank you for the dance," he said, as their dance came to a natural end.

He's the one that said it, her raised eyebrow said so clearly, but Lucy didn't see the point in saying it outright. He already struck her as the sort of man that was way too used to women tripping over themselves to get his attention, and that had never been her.

But he was a terribly good dancer, she thought rather wistfully.

Enough that she was a little disappointed when the song came to an end. "You're quite welcome," she responded, taking a small step away from him. She hesitated only briefly--was she supposed to say something else?--before giving him a slight nod of acknowledgement and turning to head back to her seat at the huge Weasley/Potter table.

Jaimeson wondered if she knew that her face was giving away her every thought. He was certain this look read clearly, he wasn't terribly amusing. It was a look he was so used to getting from her already. He couldn't wait to see it sometime while she was tied to his bed.

It had been awkward, but it wasn't the most painful encounter he'd had with a woman before. He needed to be back to work, and with a wistful little sigh, he turned to head back towards where the Minister was. "I should have told her that I wanted to unwrap her," he muttered to himself with a laugh.
